I approximate up to 15,000 Mint sales today.

    Conservatively at 70% APE 10th's, that's 10,500 sets.

    What say you?
  • 27489XXX at 06:42 PM

Since the order will be rejected, this is were they are at.
  • I agree w/ Bully, it will be between 10K and 15K sets when it runs out.

The Mint tried to pull a fast one by saying 30K Sets, but they have to get up earlier in the day to fool this board.

    hypocrite image

    I ordered at 5:39 PM order # 274882xx

I also expressed dismay at the 30,000 order limit on this set and publicly riduculed it's potential. Yet here I also have placed an order. Am I also a hypocrite? image

Maybe, maybe not. As soon as it hits the sell-out level in a week or so, I'm out. image

If we add the phone orders to the on line orders

we seem to arrive at 15,000 sets sold on the first day.

This is really a remarkable achievement, considering the high

price of the set. While the rate of purchase may slow down

from here on, this set should be a sell out before the end of

the year. If PCGS decides to make both coins 10th anniv FS

that will only enhance the attractiveness of the set purchase.

After agonizing over should I , or should I not,

I had to face reality. I really can't afford a set

at this time with end of year bills coming in so

I made the really tough decision.......I bought a set.

So how do we circumvent the 5 coin minimum at PCGS and still get these things graded for a reasonable price?

  • Ok, dumb question? Are they 2 half ounce coins? The description does not say anywhere what the denominations or the weights are .....

One of the other TPG's is waiving the minimum requirements and accepting just one set for special 10th anniversary designation. I feel that PCGS will soon follow.... or will they accept losing out?

The set is composed of 1/2 oz PR PLAT and 1/2 oz Reverse PR PLAT.

With the price of platinum it was decided by the mint that 1 oz coins

would be too expensive as would (3) 1/2 oz coins.

5 coin min? The regular submission {30.00$} does not have a min. Modern does but these are way above the 300$ limit.
  • I got my order in. #27486XXX others have posted bigger numbers.

I'm hoping to sell to a big dealer who wants to slab a whole bunch and will offer me a quick profit. If that doesn't happen I will submit myself. I have other coins to send in and have buddies so can easily meet minimum quantity requirements. Worst case I own an ounce of platinum. image

    $30 also has a 5 coin min.

    $50 does not.

    # 27496XXX @ 12 Noon Friday the 12th.

Granted the farther away we get from the start the less reliable the number is. Based on reports of the first number being around 27469xxx, one could determine the order numbers have to get well past 27500000 (4000 to go). Also, I think all orders numbers are the 'same' whether it's from the phone or internet. The operator is using the computer just like we are, it's the same system.

My brother ordered a set today and I ordered my set yesterday.

The difference in the conf. #'s from the first one I ordered yesterday and his today was 27968 sets.

so, it's getting close because I saw some #'s yesterday lower than my first order.

It's just amazing how many people are buying these in Ebay pre-sales for hundreds above Mint cost when they could buy the EXACT same set from the Mint. Just unreal.

image Maybe people buying these sets for a few hundred more, have already put in their order and want more. Maybe many more. Some may not feel right asking friends/family to order for them, getting around the one per household rule. Or maybe they do not like dealing with the mint.........Whatever, as long as they get some nice coins.

I wouldn't call it EXACTLY the same set. They have the dubious honor of paying more for a set that has been picked over.
