  • Unfortunately, (but not for me) this one is EDS but I would have to say that this will make 63 (and is off to PCGS tomorrow).

    John:

Guess who the underbidder was on the 1901 VAM 7 PCGS-45? (Truth be told, I had three people in mind when I saw I didn't win, and you were one of them.) image

My one Morgan purchase today at the Long Beach show was a nice white and decently struck 1889-0 in a PCGS MS64 holder... which I was attracted to because of this:

As soon as it is attributed it will be pop. 7/0 at PCGS

Not latest finds exactly. These were coins I have had for a while, at least one for about 15 years. Sent them to Leroy and got them back attributed, though I missed getting new discoveries on them.

    1879 VAM-20A PCGS MS64
    1880 VAM-35 PCGS MS64
    1880-O VAM-52 PCGS MS60DMPL
    1880-O VAM-53B PCGS MS63
    1882-O VAM-20 PCGS MS64PL
    1891-O VAM-16 NGC MS64DMPL
    1921 VAM-3DJ raw
    1921-D VAM-1AY PCGS MS64PL
    1921-S VAM-1AR PCGS MS64
    1922 VAM-2AB raw

These go on the long list of interesting varieties I set aside as possible new discoveries. Still have probably a couple hundred to see if they were already claimed or will send in. I thought the 53B was a 55. Could have sworn there was a checkmark.

  • The 1878 VAM-14.15 I cherried back on February 3 is on the way back from ANACS. They gave me VF-30 Details. This coin cost me, initially, $31.00.

I found a 1900-P in a 19$ junk box (raw), the coin has die gouges in the Obv. field, right at the jawline & neck...so far not a known VAM. image

Not sure what you paid, but I am in aww, there has to be a couple "you sucks" in that bunch. 88-O in my favorite vam year/mint. I have 14 1B1, 4 1B2 and 1-1B3. Not to mention 5 - 7A's. I am having real trouble cherry picking a 1A, can't figure out why.

Found a nice UNC 26-S peace vam 2C that I will be going back to the B&M for, noticed the die crack and when I looked at it I thought it was cleaned. looked it up when I got home and noticed it was polishing lines.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Picked up 4 nice problem-free raw coins. Nothing particularly spectacular but any '78-S new discovery is cause for celebration anymore.

    ....and from TT --> 1897 VAM-3A PCGS MS64PL

It's an R-5 VAM which I have hoarded in the past, keeping the best few (high grade and toners). This is the first I have located that is prooflike and I have seen a lot of the date and the variety.

Just got off ebay for $30:

(looks like, I'm new) 1921 P Vam 3X (can anyone confirm?)

    image
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.
  • Can't confirm the Vam, but the images are definitely edited in the field and on the cheek.

    My latest finds:

    1889 Vam 19A

    2 1891 O Vam 1A
