Oh man, I just got back from a trade day at the shop and say ALOT of A&G opened. I opened two boxes, but got most of the minis from all the rips, so I have a BUNCH for trade. I should have my want list tonight. If I can answer a few questions:
1) Mini sets can have a mix of backs, which is FAR more easier than just the mini set, plus you have a set that is worth a little more because of the added value. Im a bit of a purist and must have base mini's. I like to read the backs too. You will also find it easier to make a set, cause more people than not have the other variations for trade.
2) Ill get on my list of black back no numbers, it's time consuming because when people tell me their list of no #, they don't tell me what number the card is, so I have to go hunting on the checklist.
3) Retail has already been spotted. Blasters only so far, I have seen none here in Florida.
parkerj...very interested in the autos if they are for trade, I can also help with sets, and still need mini's

Wow, these cards are even nicer than the scans I've seen of them.
First box got me a Pujols relic and hanley ramirez auto. Love how they're inside that little window. Bruce Lee mini,2 mini flags, 2 black border, lots of cool things.
First time I've ever bought a case of anything at one shot.
Bought a box today while in Indy. 3 relic cards pulled. Alber Pujols bat, Jason Giambi bat, and Scott Rolen bat. Had a bad day, so this made it a lot better. Especially the Pujols bat.
Yes it would be putting a mini set together with blacks, no #'s and A&G backs. Besides the blacks, everything else would look the same from the front. It would bother me to have black minis mixed in but that is just me.
I have a Pujols relic if anyone needs it, I probably won't be collecting the relic set, unless I pulled the Washington, and then its all downhill after that.

So I hit the National today and the wife insisted on tagging along. She probably wanted to keep my spending in check and if that was her intent then she was very succesful. However, she may have opened up a can of worms she will wish she hadn't. From a collecting perspective I've been strictly focusing on vintage cards for the past decade. Other than the occasional pack at Target or Walmart I've been avoiding all the new stuff with a vengance. However today my wife noticed the 2007 Allen and Gintner cards and immediately fell in love with them. She's pushing for us to jump in the game. I know she would be happy with a set of cards which would be the cheap way to go but what's the fun in that? If I decided to go for boxes and put together my own set, what are you guys paying and where do you recommend I go? I haven't been to a hobby shop I care to go back to in a very long time. Ebay prices seem to be around $100 each. Any other suggestions? Is the price about right? I was so focused on the vintage stuff today at the show that I didn't even pay attention to what they were asking for the boxes there. Thanks guys and if anybody wants to sell a set PM me and I may take the easy way out. My budget has been taking a beating already.

Brian, I'm sure somebody could help you out with a set, but like you said there is not a lot of fun in that. $100 seems to be about the average, Blowout has them for $95, of course you could also go to our local cardshop where the guy had them marked at the low low price of $156. I'm sure if you bought a box or two you could easily fill in any holes in the set with trades here.

Wow, those prices have really gone up. Looks like my local card shop guy really took care of me with the case purchase. Paid $1040 tax included for the case. He could have made a lot more off other people than he did from me and I cleaned him out. He's got 2 boxes left and some packs

The SP have not been confirmed yet. This as a list that I got from a multi case buster on beckett. Maybe some case busters here can see if these numbers make sense.
