Just picked up one hobby box from my local guy for $82 cash (not bad!).

    Nothing great, but nice cards.
A-rod N43 boxtopper, 3 black minis, 12 normal minis, 1 emperor, 2 flags, 6 a&g minis, trot nixon bat relic. Mantle, bonds, pujols, daisuke, phil hughes base cards, but not sure if thats particularly great, depends on if they are sp's. Not sure what my 2 "hits" were - well one was the relic.

Anyone else notice the back color pattern? I can't tell yet if there are variations, but always the first two cards in a pack have a much tanner back, then the next 1 is white, then the mini, then the dick perez, then the next 2 are tan, and the last 2 are white. This pattern was repeated for each and every pack in my box.

As I expected, this set will be fun to open with my kids as there are plenty of non-sports folks to provide an educational experience.

    - Jim

    Jim,

I noticed the same thing last year with the color variations. There didn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to them. Maybe I missed something, but I don't think they are variations.

Just my 2 cents (about all my opinion is worth these days).

Oh man, Im standing in a Wendy's parking lot somewhere in south Georgia picking this up....stealing wireless from the nearby Days Inn. I can't wait
to see someone rips and pics late tonight. Ill have my scanner going to and add to the madness.

Who said snakes one per case? Why couldn't I of gotten the 1 per case rip card instead? It will be interesting to see what people will pay for these and
if they will consider them part of the base mini set.

    So far I am doing....base set...mini set...auto set.....anyone else?

Hopefully I can get to the store tomorrow and hopefully he saved me a few boxes.

OK, I know I'm a newb on a&g...but please bear with me, what is the per pack seed rate on sp's? And is it true that all non serial#d parallels also have normal prints and short prints?

So if barry bonds is a short print, his mini is short printed relative to other base card minis. Same for a&g mini's and black-border mini's?

    First box:

    12 SPs
    2 Mini blacks
    2 Mini Flags
    1 Mini Marcus Aurelius
    Scott Rolen game used bat
    Chien-Ming Wang Auto

    image
  • Nick, nice pull on the Wang auto. I pulled one last year and it sold on Ebay for over $340 - I wonder what they are this year.

    Box 2:

12 SPs (9 unique and 3 duplicate of those 9)
    2 Mini blacks
    2 Mini Flags
    1 Mini snake
    Hanley Ramirez bat
    Eric Chavez jersey
    Rich Harden Jersey

Im already sick of the Dick Perez sketch card inserts that are in EVERY PACK.
  • parkerjparkerj Posts: 1,098 ✭✭✭
I much prefer the gum in the Heritage packs to the Dick Perez sketches, but they both leave you with a stale taste in your mouth.
  • Sounds like the Sketch cards are worse than the Flashbacks in Heritage.

    Box 3:

10 SPs (maybe i missed 2 of them)
    3 Mini blacks

It looks like I pulled 36 SPs from three boxes. No doubles of any.

Is it a good guess that the SPs are the same for the minis like last year?

Half the case gone so far and, aside form the Wang auto, the "hits" have been less than spectacular.

It's the wild west out there on the Bay right now with no short prints being officially announced. Great deals to be had, but I've also had to cancel 2 or 3 wins because of false claims in the title.

That Fielder will probably pay for half the case, and the Ichiro should bring at least 100. Nice!

    3 Flag Mini
    2 Black Mini

And dont forget my Wang. LOL

So in summary regarding my Prince Fielder Wood card and my Chien-Ming Wang Auto card......getting wood is a good thing when you have a nice Wang to go with it. image

Can anyone tell me how the relic cards are constructed? I've never held one of these cards in my hand or even seen one in person. In particular, I was interested in the Bruce Lee card. But after seeing some scans on ebay, the card looks rather unimpressive. The inner portion of the card appears to be inserted into a frame that's slightly larger, and it is never centered perfectly which makes it look terrible. Does the inner card move around freely, or is it somewhat held into whatever position it might be in?
  • The inner card moves around freely, as does the piece of memorabilia. I got a bat card in a pack today, and the bat piece was loose inside the inner card, I can jiggle it around....I don't like them this way!
  • I opened 10 hobby packs today pulled 2 autographs. Any SP lists been published yet?
