<< <i>It's hard to sit around and wait for that sale while your trading buddies are finishing up without you, leaving you almost no one to help you finish your set. >>
Maybe I missed something. I thought we were talking about 07 Allen&Ginter. It's not live for 3 months, last year the retail was released at least a week before hobby. I do know my guys will have enough extras to finish sets.
Yes we are talking about 2007 A&G. Are you saying that the 20% off sale will happen the day it's released? If not, while guys sit and wait for that sale, the trading will be well underway.

No, I'm not saying it will go on sale the day the product goes live. Last year the sale was 2 weeks in July, A&G shipped in August. I assume Jack Lockwood is selling the 8 box cases @ around $400. That price is about 1/2 of the hobby price. To me it would be better to lock in a price, as opposed to spending hours trying to save a few bucks, and maybe not getting it at all.
These cards look like they are going to be fun to rip, no matter what the price you settle on. If anyone finds some very good pre-order pricing, post it and let's get those orders going!

That seems like a fair price. Check with him, he's still trying to get rid of Turkey Red BB. He had a guy stiff him on a massive order, because the product was a bust.
At $410 - $420 for an 8 box retail case that would be about $52 for 24 packs. Compare that to 3 blasters at Target (which I assume will have 8 packs each) which would cost you $60 + tax for 24 packs (obviously not using Bigslick's "discounts" in this scenario).
That means everytime you buy blasters at Target you're gonna say man I should have orders that case (or cases).
All I will say is that A&G is crack cocaine. Hard. Drug. Cannot stop.
After being out of the hobby for nearly 20 years, I got into A&G hard last year.
It is an absolute fantastic product --- even my wife got into the pack-ripping.
At one point, I had over 200 of the #/25 bazooka backs.
I've sold off most of my A&G, but still have: - Complete mini set (reg back) - Complete mini set (A&G back) - several autos - nearly all relics - Jenni Finch TTM auto (those do look awesome!) - Unripped Josh Gibson rip card (#/99) - 3/4 BJ Ryan printing plates - several wood cards
I still have a bunch of base cards I don't need. I'm also open to getting rid of the relics and autos.
I didn't plan on getting into 2007, but I'm not sure I'll be able to contain myself.
Drug. Must rip. Deep Addiction.

I have a retail case and a hobby case coming. I only added a hobby case for the darned rip card. Kevin, (JoeStalin) you better be right about the rip cards being worth it. LOL
Sad to say but the Retail Boxes will have only 1 "hit " per box. Hobby has 2. I'm in the Retail at a little less than $40 per, but I'm buying Hobby now. The price has come down quite a bit.
<< <i>What do you consider "come down quite a bit"? >>
If you buy a lot of different products in #s, it's gone from about $80 to $70 per box. If your looking to only buy what people assume to be hot items, the price has probably remained about the same. I understand that everone tries to make the best deal they can, but this is like any other business, it just doesn't work like that. Sad, but true.
BigSlick - You aren't talking to dealers here. Most of us cant afford to spend $25,000 or $50,000 or $100,000 on product all year just to get the best price on the better stuff. We know you have connections, we've heard about them ad nauseum, but unless you're going to help out the board members and sell to us at the prices you're getting, please stop talking down to us like we're missing the boat or overpaying. Actually I can't speak for anyone but myself, I guess that's just how I feel when I read your posts.

I certainly apologize if I offended you or anyone else. It was not my intention. My reply was about new information that I received about the # of hits in the Retail end of the product. I think anyone who watches knows that the price has come down(Blowout and others). You're the one who asked the question. I thought I had read a link to one of your auctions that said something about your "staff", so I did assume you were a dealer, searching for the best price possible. My wife and I do show a total loss on everything I buy. Again I am sorry, if you were offended.
I sell vintage cards on eBay and at shows with no access to the kind of discount wax you keep going on and on about, and yes I am looking for the best price possible, but you did nothing to help me find that. All you did was brag about the low prices you're getting.

It's not my place to help you get a price. How was I bragging? You asked a question, I gave an answer. Again I do apologize, you might ought to make that work for you, it's the last you're getting.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Good price or not I am unable to spend big bucks on cases of anything. I ordered 2 boxes from my shop and that guy always gives a nice little discount to regulars. I just bought a box of series 2 for my son and he not only knocked $10 off he threw in a GU jersey card of Cal Ripken for my boy.

In a related story, Blowout is down to $930 for a hobby case, and they always give $10 off and free shipping for an order over $500, so thats $920/12 boxes = $76.66 per box. That's a little better than what I locked in at 2 months ago.

Seems like a bargain. I'm trying not to get interested in this. I've had a bad two days with cards and PSA.
The OTHER metalmike here- Drumk (a lot) lol. I bought 1 box last year and had bad luck so I bought 5 hot packs off ebay and pulled a JFK tie card- sold that and bought a complete set and a Promo rip card. The Promo rip cards are tuff- Arod with a Mantle inside. WOW!
USN 1977-1987 * ALL cards are commons unless auto'd. Buying Britneycards. NWO for life.
I bought about 25 cases of Topps Heritage cards from Blowout over the past three years, and they have always been factory sealed. Quick delivery too! Only downside, and maybe this is because my orders are so large, but I have to pay with a check or pay $100 extra if I want to pay with paypal. I've always paid with check and never had a problem.
OK, my turn to avow ignorance. What does factory sealed mean? Just the Topps logo on the wrapper? I've had boxes I purchased off the net that had the wrapping that were awful. I understand it's a crap shoot, but couldn't one re-seal with the logo'd wrap?
I can't believe Topps bumped the date on this. It is killing me. My local dealer has offered me hobby boxes at $85 each. I'm only in for two, but I'll probably stretch out a third box. I am really only interested in the base set. I will trade off the extra stuff I may find for variations of the Pirates cards.
