he should know that these boards would call him out if there was an inkling of this type of activity. he posted earlier today and several have pm'd him. silence is not good in this instance.

    Thanks,

Sellers of unopened product who purchase wrappers, empty boxes and lots of semi-stars and commons from the years of the packs they are simultanneously selling are bound to raise many red flags. It certainly doesn't look good.

80's Junkie was the funds collector, the acquirer , and the shipper of the 80's football wax bust, as well as at least one complete 80's baseball bust.
Thank god you guys over ruled the 75 baseball handling and let Steve ship directly.
I don't know how long time is allowed to dispute paypal transactions, but I'm very tempted to start a dispute on both of the above mentioned rips if it is still allowed. If all the participants did, he'd have one heck of a negative balance.

He averages 6.5 posts a day and now dead silence?
I know I am a 12 post total A-Ball Rookie compared to some of you guys, so that's why I'm asking about opening disputes.

i never got involved in any of these breaks so i will give an outside opinion here.

first of all a story has to make sense. this one does not.

    1- horrible feedback
    2-buys empty boxes and wrappers
    3-got the "good" cards naturally
    4- wont answer allegations
    5-ids/names match up
6-buying specific wrappers which relate to future box case rips
7- buying mint commons of same
    8-caught lying
the proponderance of the evidence so far says volumes in my mind. this is a horrible thing to do to anyone let alone people you befriended. although i am sure steve hart /bbce is a very busy person, he is the most secure way of doing your group rips in case anyone decides to do it in the future. i dont rip, so that was just a suggestion. this just stinks. i am sorry to hear this happen to you guys.

I just got his mobile number from an easy search on the web.
  • I think most wanted the cards to ship directly from Baseball Card Exchange, but this user was ready to do the legwork, so most wouldn't question b/c who really wants to do that.

I hope it works out for you guys in the end.

...and to think I was considering the 84 Topps FF as my 1st board rip
  • I'm angry as all hell right now. This wasn't a case of a nice guy who got tempted to do something wrong because of the position he was in. This is a case of someone coming in and deliberately and maliciously creating a "profile" of an individual in order to scam, steal and fraud people out of money. Many steps were taken, great efforts were made and premeditated illegal actions were taken on his part.

Anybody have any of the pictures taken from the '75 Mini break of him at BBCE?

That just might be the fianl nail! I can't believe anybody that just bought a case fresh box of 78's would buy a bunch of junk from 4SC's who is probably PSA's top[ submitter so you know you are getting just that junk!

Sorry guys but I need to vent for a minute. I just got a not so nice little pm from someone I wont name. Accusing me of putting these pack rips and case rips together to make a nice profit. Im floored. I want you guys to know I am in this as a hobbyist just like the rest of you guys. Luckily i am afforded the luxury of time and patience to put these rips together. They are alot of work and i spend about 20-30 hours total per rip with all the emails and packaging proccesing and shipping. I can guarantee you I have not made a dollar on a single rip and i dont want to. This is fun for all of us and I want you guys to know I like doing this and dont want anyone thinking I'm doing this for profit. Believe me I dont need to make a buck this way. Im thankful god has granted me a healthy and luxurious lifestyle. Plus I consider you all friends and my first rule to a fault is never try to make a buck off of friends.
The only one making out here is bbcexchange with the thousands of dollars we are spending with him.

For those who might think other wise here is a exact breakdown for this case rip so you can see I am not making anymoney off of this.

Case $9000 divide by 64 lots of 9 140.62 per lot

    1 lot 140.62packs+4.68paypalfees+4.35shipping=149.65

    2lots 281.24packs+8.91paypalfees+6.65shipping=296.80

    3 lots 421.86packs+13.24paypalfees+8.80shipping=443.90

    1 box 462.50box+16.65paypalfees+8.80shipping+587.95

So you add it all up I am not doing this for profit.

Sorry to rant and rave guys I was just very upset by this persons pm and accusations

Now lets all have some fun and pull lots of psa 10's so you can sell them to me to finish my 78 set

just looked into the feedback and there are no less than 16 instances whereas buyers claimed that boxes/packs were either resealed or tampered with. thats just ugly.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
His feedback was mentioned at least 3 weeks ago and no one cared.

I was astounded that he willingly gave us his ebay handle. At least 3 people (myself) included called him on the feedback and he of course bullied his way with what i felt was a lame answer. I then just kept what i felt to myself.

  • I think it was in the 78 thread....2nd or 3rd page
  • Steve, I honestly didn't see the mention of his feedback or I would've been right there with you. Nice work on your part and a very large THANK YOU to everyone involved in bringing all of this to light. I was strongly considering the '84 FB break and I don't exactly have $300+ to give to some scumbag.

The worst part is that I actually sent this douche a PM after he made the post about someone contacting him about [profiting off the rips just to say "Don't sweat it, everyone here appreciates what you're doing .... blah, blah, blah." He got us all good.

How sick does this make me feel? I actually planned to swing by Target on my way home today and pick up some '07 Topps to break. I don't even collect baseball but just wanted to crack some wax. I no longer feel like doing it.

    Anger.

weren't there a couple of boxes that were replaced by Steve Hart because they sucked so bad? Seems like he should know about this "great" person he has been dealing with, cut off any future business to him, and recoup the fees for the extra money Steve laid out on the replacement boxes.

I'm sure Steve won't be pleased any of this either, because through Gary he was the provider of the unopened product in question. I also thought it was very strange that he was against the idea of the 78 packs being shipped directly from bbce but I'm very glad they were for our sake! This entire situation is very disturbing indeed.

hopefully you guys paid with credit cards thru paypal. i really hate to see this sort of thing happen. it certainly looks planned out. winpitcher had his doubts early but no one seemed to notice (including myself) i never paid too much attention since i didnt partake in the rips. i figure nobody paid attention or didnt know about his feedback (link between his id here and his ebay id) or naturally they wouldnt send him $. i believe that his high number of posts misled people into trusting him. this whole thing is unfortunate.
  • CDsNutsCDsNuts Posts: 10,092
Just so it doesn't seem like I'm taking undeserved credit for anything, most of the facts were uncovered by other board members, and I just followed up a little.

    Lee
  • I had no part in the rips, but you guys need to be careful about what you are saying at this point for a couple of reasons:

If he did rip you guys off, posting all the evidence of it, gives him time to come up with a story or cover up other evidence that may be out there,

Also if he did not do this and he does have a business reputation to protect, you need to be careful of slander and defamation, last thing you want is to be served with a lawsuit from this guy.

As for the guy talking about getting phone numbers and other personal information from a Federal source. It is highly illegal to do so, I would keep it to myself. He could contact the AG on privacy issues and they can easily trace what records were run and by whom, based on the posting dates and times, thenyu find yourself and your source in a real bad spot.

If you believe you have been defrauded, you need to contact an attorney, paypaland maybe the local police in his area (likely will tell you it is a civil issue).

You know, I sure hope that this isn't true. The guy seemed to really want to help everyone out and seemed genuine. But, the evidence is certainly stacked.

I was a bit suspicious with this football break because there was hardly a star in the entire run. But, I'm going to hold off and hope that Gary comes up with some very good answers.

First off, I have not participated in any of the rips, but weren't a lot of folks sending their packs to PSA to be graded. If he is tampering, won't some of these get caught. If he knew that, then why would he mess with them? Believe me I am not saying he is innocent, but I would think he would be taking a HUGE risk.

I had a few questions for steve waiting to hear back.

Mrg I had already planned to set up a video camera and tape the enitre thing and post it up on you tube or something like that for everyone to view. But we will see trying to figure out if it will be more work for me if steve ships them or not. If he ships them for a decent price it saves me that work but then I have to go through and creat a list will all the addresses and lots for steve. Plus we probably wouldnt pictures of the break or video. I think one of us busting the case and getting pictures to go with it is part of the fun

waiting on 3 payments. Grote steves sending me the case it would have been a little more of a hassle plus I am going to video the break and spliting of the case and post it on you tube for us all to enjoy.

Then each time he was asked about direct shipping, he responded with a image nothing else.
