My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Pulled a Brett Butler rookie and a Von Hayes rookie along with my favorite manager of all time and an all time Fenway favorite....plus, I added the scan of the Gantner for the collector that was asking for Gantner cards....

Here is my contribution to 1983 Topps Rip

    image

Collecting Tony Perez PSA and Rookie Baseball PSA

  • The 82's were terrible. The highlight was a gum stained Fred Lynn. The good news is that the 83 topps pack was fantastic. It didn't have any of the super duper cards, but 4 stars all centered great. If anybody gets an 83 topps boggs that isn't a 9 or 10 and wants to trade it let me know.

I won a Colecovision!! Well, not really. My '82 Donruss cards were wretched. All of my '83 Topps have corner damage. I did find a new addition to my Pirates collection, though.

If anyone wants to trade your 1980 topps from the rip, I would trade any other year for your 1980 topps. I pulled a couple from 78 that could 10, but everything else is there inc. some stars. So, if you are building a 78 set or 79, or 81, or 84 donruss, trade me your 1980. 1980 was my first year collecting, so I love it beyond reason.

    Just PM!

  • May be a silly question... but does anyone get those insert cards graded?
I mean, to some, if you're building a complete set from that year, wouldn't you want the insert graded?

  • I have little to show over the last three packs. I'm heading out of town so I'll have to catch up next weekend. I'll still be watching to see if anyone pulls any great cards. I was hoping to see something after the Ripken...Nice Gwynn or Boggs maybe...something

    piman,
how did you pass over that ryan? it looks pristine....get that in a holder quick..before anything happens to it.

the centering looks beautiful. the corners look sharp as a tack....

    Thanks,

    Whoa! Nice Ryan!

It looks like the slightest of tilts (check the bottom right and upper left), but certainly not enough to affect the grade.

Well, I opened my 83 Fleer and 83 Donruss packs today....don't know what I was thinking but thought today was the 4th....oh well. And to make matters worse, nothing worth talking about in either pack....
  • Alfonz24Alfonz24 Posts: 3,114 ✭✭✭✭✭
I would post a scan of my 83 fleer, but then I would have to cleanup my platten.

All my '83 Topps had corner dings...best of the group below...PLUS, a nice Boggs rookie from my Fleer pack! Definitely a 9....does the top to bottom centering have a PSA 10 shot?

Nothing very good again in the 84 Topps. My best pull was a Jack Fimple rookie, but it was o/c.

  • My '83Topps pack had a torn corner and, as a result, badly dinged corners, so I opened it tonight. (I'm sending in most of the packs for grading during the February special.) Here are the cards I received:

    769 Checklist
    303 Miguel Dilone (Indians, OF)
    346 Joe Pittman (Padres, 2b)
    422 George Cappzzello (Astros, P)
    612 Steve Swisher (Padres, C)
    642 Checklist
    66 Bob Lillis (Astros, Manager)
    26 Jerry Royster (Braves, 3b-2b)
    368 Richie Zisk (Mariners, DH-OF)
    481 Scot Thompson (Cubs, OF)
    64 Bill Stein (Rangers, 1b-3b)
    410 Phil Niekro (Braves, P)
    724 Johnny Grubb (Rangers, OF)
197 Jim Eisenreich (Twins, OF -- the man Kirby Puckett replaced in 1984, I believe!)
48 Lary Sorensen (gum stained; Indians, P)

Maybe I'll rip another pack or two later...

Best of luck to the rest of you!
