  • Greg,

    Just email me your address

I'll just send it to you!

Buy me a beer sometime! imageimage

    Regards, Jeff
  • Gabb - Love your new title on the HOF players, I should change mine as well. "I used to think I was top ten material"

I can't afford to stay with some of these guys, I think it is great when I actually find some of these cards like Stydahar etc. I can't imagine how many houses or racecars I could buy for what these high grade cards are going for. I'd say 70% of my stuff is ebay finds.
  • Bill,

    Love your new proposed name!

You've got a great collection though!!

My favorites : (which I would LOVE to have in my set!)

    T. Canadeo PSA 7
    N. Van Brocklin PSA 7
    J. Brown PSA 8
    G. Sayers PSA 8

You should post pics of the Canadeo,Van Brocklin and Sayers

Best of luck with your collection!

    Regards, Gabbs
  • The Canadeo was a recent ebay raw find for $50!

Out of curiousity - did the "All hight grade" HOF rc sew owneer just win the friggin lotto? Seriously, he must have spent at least $250k in the last month.... Christ. It took me 3 or 4 months to pay off my Marino PSA 10 rookie, which is the most expensive card that I've ever bought ($1200 including juice at the Memory Lane auction). I like to think that I make a decent salary, but it's taken me nearly 2 years to piece together a reasonably modest HOF rc set that's a tad over 50% complete with a GPA of 7.96.

Is this guy buying mainly off current set owners (I know he bought a bunch of cards off Jasp)? I'm just curious as to where one would even FIND these cards in the span of a month let alone buy them. For instance, I've been looking for a PSA 8 1963 Buoniconti for the past year and have only seen one for sale that was terribly o/c.

    Regards,

    Greg M.

Well, I can't and wouldn't speak on where or how his money comes from. But I will say that although he is a new player on the Registry, he's been buying super-high grade cards for some time. Probably at least a couple of years. Most of his HUGE cards (Namath 9, Unitas 9, Jim Brown 9, etc) are cards he has picked up from auction houses over the past few years.

From what I know, he just recently discovered the Registry and decided to jump in feet first and try to take out MOSH. At first, I didn;t think anyone could take out MOSH, but he's been finding alot of the cards in a short period..Some from me, some from MOSH, others from ebay, Memory Lane, etc.

I predicted he would make the top 10 by Jan. 1st, and he's already there..My next prediction is that he will pass MOSH before the may Set Registry awards. He will eventually slow down when he gets down to just needing the really hard to find cards. The 1963 Bouniconti as an example. The 48 Leaf and 1952 Bowman will not be easy either.

I've been building my set for 7 years now, and I know how scarce some of these cards are...Some of them you only see once every few years. Of all the cards i've sold to him, I feel i can get them back one grade lower fairly easily and I will still meet my collecting goals. The additional funds will help me get the more expensive cards that I "need" to fit my collection.

If anyone else wants to sell cards that he needs, let me know and I can assist.

Tough card to get in 10. The whole year is tough due to the foil layer sometimes peeeling, rounded corner, bent corners from the cutter and surface scratches. I sent a few on the last $5 submission and got back 8's (I think they should have been at least 9's), but I'll revisit them for cracking when the card has more value.

What's a fair price for a 1997 SP Authentic box? I've been toying with buying a box for a while but the only one on E-Bay (DAC?) is around $185...

Me personally, I would pay $100..The cheapest I've seen were in the $150 range. Walter Jones is the only PSA 10 rookie I don't have from the set. So I can't see spending all that for essentially one card.

I can't blame them. A new set registry player with unlimited funds who guaranteed he would be # 1. I'm sure he's paying whatever they ask for. Now is the perfect time to sell him high grade cards he needs.

  • Don't misinterpret my comment. I wasn't blaming anyone. I was just making an observation. Even though it was just stating the obvious.

    No offense taken..lol

For me, it means I get to re-start my journey to 100% completion. The BAD thing about hitting 100%, is the thrill of the chase is minimized..Because there simply isn't as much on that i need. Now i've got some cards to search for again...

He was headed to #1 anyway, I just helped speed the process. If anyone else has some of the cards he needs, shoot me an e-mail or PM and I can facilitate the process.

    Hi,

I asked a question a while back that no one answered. What do you think of Jason Taylor's chances of making the hall? Also, does anyone have a PSA 10 of his.....or nice raw?

  • Greg- I think he has a pretty good chance, especially if he wins the Defensive MVP award this year. Looking at his career stats, he currently has 105 sacks, and has averaged around 13 sacks a year since 2000. I think he would need to finish with this years award, and around 140-150 sacks to become a lock.
As for his RC card, I'm still looking for youimage

Question - why isn't Kevin Green an automatic shoo in for the HOF? He retired 3rd all time in sacks and forced fumbles and was voted to 3 pro bowls. Plus he won one or two yearly awards (LB of the year - I belive in 1996). It seems strange that he isn't mentioned as a lock for the HOF.

    Greg,

I think the fact that he only made 3 Pro Bowls is what makes most view him as a non first ballot guy.

Couple of problems Greene is going to have is #1-he was a pass rush specialist..This is something that has hindered Derrick Thomas from getting in so far...Would ANYONE in the world put Kevin Greene in over DT? No way..DT has got to get in first..And that leads me to #2...LB is a hard position to make the HOF...Look at some of the past LB greats who arent yet in the HOF...Les Richter, Chris Hanburger, Lee Roy Jordan, Chuck Howley, Randy Gradishar, Robert Brazile...At least 3 of these guys were CLEARLY, IMO, better than Kevin Greene...

So while I do think Greene has a shot to eventually get in, I'd say its a 10-20% shot at best...I've actually met Greene (He was in the Army Reserves) and he's a great guy..I also liked his aggressive style of play, especially when attacking the line-of-scrimmage...But to call him a lock? He's not even in that conversation. But he's got to chance to make it in one day down the road...

  • The centering looks great and the corners are sharp. As for the color, admittingly it's not bright, but I think it might be a scaner issue. I still say it's 10 worthy and congrats Jason.
