Here ya go, rld14, as per my coin show report , the most coins I have bought at one show ever in the 5 years since getting back into coins; nothing spectacular, but any original surfaces Fine coins are hard for me to turn away... F18, F15, F12 imho...
The 1912d rev is a bit dark, some splotches but in hand the rose hues are nice. 1908p slightly better date, can't remember owning a F12 before. If I didn't already have the 07d in XF, this one would fit right in.

Really nice pickups! I bought 2 Raw halves at Coinfest which I submitted to PCGS right at the show before I could photo em
I do have a whole mess at PCGS now so as soon as those come back I will get pics of them, I also picked up an 1893 Quarter in NGC 63 plastic that I am working on imaging, it's got beautiful original skin on it, one of those coins that some clown would likely crackout, dip and probably get upgraded but I felt like I had to save it

Congratulations to the new owner of the PCGS, XF-45, 1904-S Barber half, that went off for $5,600.00 on Ebay......WOW! The coin was a beautiful example of this date. Congratulations should also go out to GoldenEyeNumismatics, the seller of the 04-S, who's a class act and an active member of these boards. Currently on Ebay, there are two PCGS, XF-40, 1904-S Barber halves on Ebay......what kind of prices will they bring?

Here's the one that sold last night for $5600 ...
I had this XF 45 pegged at $4,500. I'm scratching my head at $5,600.
Here's one of the two being auctioned this week...[ edit: This coin closed for $3551. ]
... and the other... [ edit: closed at $2650.01 ]
Anybody have the POP figures at their finger tips ? {Edit: XF 40 = POP - 9; XF 45 = POP - 10 } [ It seems like yesterday that the AU 55 that I bought from Peter Shireman was the finest AU available and a POP - One coin !! Now, my AU 58 is a POP - 9 coin !! ]
Seems like the big proceeds are bringing these out of the Danscos and Whitmans...

I have been collecting Barbers religiously for almost ten years. I have never seen an XF45 like that 04-S. It might even go AU50. Definitely the nicest choice midgrade I have encountered. I doubt another will ever be seen as nice in that grade. It is all about eye appeal and that coin had it. I was the underbidder by $100.00 I figured I could have paid the money and sold off my VF35 for $2K or so which I paid only a fraction.
I guessed $5-6K for the final price, but was right only because I knew I was going to bid in the 5K + range. A self fulfilling prophecy I guess.
Congrats to the new owner and may you tire of it within a few months and sell it off.
I just looked at your 1904-S - listed by PCGS as a VF 35 - and that is a great looking coin and has as much detail as the two XF 40's currently on eBay. The overall impression is far nicer as well. One of the XF 40's is at $2,500 now - and the next one is at approx. $1K less. Both auctions have five or six days to go.
Granted, that XF 45 CAC is a very nice coin, is it $3,600. [ or so ] nicer than your's ? Don't think so.
If you do ever decide to sell your 04-S - please let the board know - as not all of us haunt eBay frequently.
Here's the old 1904-S PCGS 30 from my old mid range set [ sold last year ]
Without permission - I have Hi-Jacked Tyler's images [ sorry - Tyler, but a picture is worth a thousand words...]
Here's another [ ex: HLRC - PCGS 45 - sold in 2008 ]
Lastly, my old 1904-S, sold three years ago, PCGS 55

Thanks Mike, your positive opinion means a lot. It could be argued as VF35, but I think my example is in the XF40 range. Not worth resubmitting though. I really do like my example and am perfectly pleased with it. I did buy it for a steal (in this case, there was a Santa in numismatics) so I figured I could sell mine and offset the costs of the higher graded example.
In the end, it wasn't that big of a deal, but to have a key date as the showcase and centerpiece of a collection for grade and eye appeal would be pretty impressive.
Tyler's 04s by the photo has XF42 details, no way 35, just another example of PCGS punishing a toned coin. imho...

Baley - Thanks for posting the quarters - I for one, would love to see more of your coins. I can understand completely why you're keeping them in a Dansco.
My Dimes are in a Dansco - and my certified Dime set are the duplicates. The main problem is that PCGS thinks the toning is AT because they have been in that album for almost 15 years and are toning up spectactularily.

Peter - Here's the 1906-S PCGS 68 [ ex: NGC 69 ] you were trying to post.
here is what you typed: myitems.aspx# [/IMG] I changed this out because it just gave me another red X.
what I think you need to type is the actual serial number after aspx=serialnumber[/IMG]
Then again, its all new to me as well. The image is under 50Kb - so you can add it to PCGS's image files...although I added it to my PhotoBucket account.
Pretty coin [ major understatement ] - and I'll edit this post in a few minutes with the Reverse Images.
