image I've been looking for an 1894 Barber quarter for my album without much luck, I'm hoping this may be the one. There is a scuff across the cheek, but it looks original.

Very nice. I 've been pleased with this dealer's coins and the website (independent of the ebay store) is a good place to periodically check for nice circ BQs.

    We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
  • An ANACS EF-45 that just crossed over...now PCGS XF-45. Not the prettiest coin but definitely hard to find...think it's a keeper for now.

    image
  • Here's another cross over--formerly an NGC EF-45...didin't quite make it to XF-45 though...now a PCGS XF-40...not bad looking...but I really like the tone.

    image
  • Okay...last one for today...I originally purchased this raw two years ago...submitted for grading and it came back as an XF-40...felt really strong about it and resubmitted...now a PCGS XF-45.

Dave - Those are three nice halves - and I think Phil did a good job imaging them as well.

Joe - Nice quarter and I think it'll holder - from the image the scuff isn't all that bad.

Rob - Beautiful 1897 Dime - I'd like that look in a New Orleans example !!

Tom - When are you going to finish up your images ? I'm especially looking forward to seeing your NEWP !!

    Good evening fellow Barber afficionados.

Nice 1894 quarter addition and other new additions to everyone's collectons.

In anticipation of rolling out my new website in a matter of days I have posted 40 coins on the BST here.

Included is a really nice selection of all Barber series plus a few other goodies so take a look. I am really excited about the site but wanted to post some coins ahead of it's launch for forum members first. Enjoy.

I don't think I've posted this one before. If I have, my apologies.

It really looks like this in hand. It was a raw purchase and PCGS gave it a VF20.

  • MFHMFH Posts: 11,720 ✭✭✭✭

    That's a very sweet VF 20 - should be a VF 25 CAC.

I don't remember if you did post this before or not -

regardless - its worth posting numerous times !!

You've got some highly desirable halves there...I don't know how you found those in that condition, mint state, raw form, and still able to get them certified...my hat is off to you...you have a very keen eye!

It came up on ebay. I liked it so I bid (okay, dammit...I sniped).

The cool thing is that it appears very unspoiled. It sat in a plastic case with spongy foam and aged nicely. The pix don't due the color justice. It has lovely, vibrant toning around the rim, and is free of ugly dings (though I see some pitting around the cheek). I think PCGS would BB it for questionable color.

I showed it to my wife and she said she'd like to wear it in a hat. "Maybe to bed", I said. I don't know why she didn't laugh...she always laughs at my jokes. Prolly thought I was serious.

I'm sure by now many of us have looked at PonyExpress8's
newest offerings. Most caught my eye and wanted to pull
the trigger on more than these two new upgrades :

This purchase leaves me with duplicates both in PCGS 58.
One of these days, I'll image the AU58's and put them on the BST.

Im so grateful im only trying to do the dime set. I would spend way too much if I was doing others as well. Great coins.

Not knowing if this is the same person
or two separate collectors but I'd like
to welcome "chugum" to the PCGS Barber
collecting group - and "BarberKing" who
has listed their sets accross the street.

"chugum" is almost complete in all three
series in a MS 63 grade. No images yet
but I hope this collector starts posting his
    images soon.

    EDIT:

After checking out the NGC collection of
"BarberKing's" - it is a separate and distinct
collection - and in no way resembles "chugum's".

Mike, very nice 1909-S Quarter. I'm jealous image

Lots of nice Barbers have gone (and are still going) on Heritage tonight... any winners here???? I put what I considered a lowball bid on a few, most of which were quickly blown out of the water once live bidding started, but one of the actually held up!!! image Will post later image

    Joe,

Your VF35 1896-S is just beautiful. Wow. I've only seen two (maybe three) VF35s in 20+ years, and they were scrubbed white. Yours is amazing. Tough, tough, tough!

    Very nice photography work too.

I just checked DLRC auction tonite and this NGC 61 1909-O quarter hammered at 1800?

I predict it will be the next PCGS 58.

    Crimmany that's beautiful.

Was watching that one too, but I thought the price was fair. I mean what is the reality for the prices of the 1909-O Barber Quarter???? Are AU58s really worth $4k??? If so, are MS63s really worth less than an AU??? The last few MS64s went for about $4k or so at auction as well (same as the AU58 @ Heritage). I bought my MS64 last year for just under $4k.

Do we really believe that an AU quarter is worth the same or more than an MS63 or MS64??? Not me. So it's either the AUs are way overpriced or the MS64 is way underpriced. I'm thinking that in this market the AUs are way overpriced and that the recent high price was someone just overchasing a condition rarity. If I'm wrong, maybe I should crack my MS64 and turn it into an AU and profit image

That said, for an MS61 or AU or whatever the grade, that 1909-O quarter looks very pretty and I'm guessing it looks even better in hand. image
  • MFHMFH Posts: 11,720 ✭✭✭✭
    Dennis -

I didn't even check the quarters tonight on DLRC.
    You're right - in a PCGS 58 holder, the 1909-O
would double in price. [ Based on previous sale
of the POP One in PCGS 58 ].

I was preoccupied with the Halves - and won a
nice upgrade. The images are too large to post - but
once they're resized I'll post them. [ The images did
attach to my Registry set though. I wish the size
constraints of 50 Kb were raised here.]

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay - I gotta ask - who is "CHUGUM" ??
... and when can we expect some images ??
His/Her sets are almost complete in MS & PR 63
    Dimes, Quarters and Halves...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I'm still having computer issues at home and the Geek Squad
    is coming over next Sunday...

Here's an attachment of the newp - reduced courtesy of Dave99B - Thx again, Dave:
