Nope you just posted 2000. So I get the honor of 2001, which is the SC Gamecacks theme song. Luckily I'm a Tiger fan though. I'll keep practicing at taking images Mike. If I don't get the photographer roll at PCGS, I'll have to settle for other TPGs and work my way up.
Here is a crusty Barber to start of the next thousand posts. I finally figured out how to post scans, so I look forward to contributing more than just dealer photos in the future. I really like darkly toned coins. This coin appears more chocolate colored and less olive colored than what appears in the scans.
I was hemming and hawing about that coin myself - but - the 1897-P was not part of the group I was planning on upgrading, as I have that date in PCGS AU 58.
I love the toning on that coin - its very pretty. _________________________________________________________________
I just picked up another couple of Half Dollars for the Whitman:
1894-O in PCGS VF 30; 1901-S in PCGS F-12 [ both sight unseen, but I've asked for images]; and a very special looking 1911-P in PCGS VF 20. The images are too large to add here, but I was able to add the coin and its images to my second set, if you'd like to check it out. I think the 2nd set has slid to #24 or so. _________________________________________________________________
Keep plugging, Brandon, at least you take your own images and are able to post them... unlike Your's Truly.
Nice 1903-O in XF 45, Barberian - the coin looks familiar...

No... Stone has a MS63 1897 which looks similar to the MS64 25c as far as almost having the same toning.
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
Anyone see the results of last night's Heritage auction ?
The 1892-O Micro O in NGC 63 sold for $34,400 - alot less than I thought it'd go for. I still like Peter Shireman's old PCGS MS 63 a whole lot more - BTW - its still available @ HLRC on a POR.
...come on GoKings...... S T R E T C H ...... for it !!!

WOW, that other 1897 does look really similar to mine. It's has the same toning pattern, just less defined/pronounced. The luster looks like it could be stronger on the 64, than my 63.

This 1904-S - from Heritage's Summer FUN auction Bullet Sale - replaced the ANACS VF 20 that I crossed to PCGS as a VF 25 - and eventually sold to another collector...its a decent filler, IMHO:
MFH, are you on a Binge Barber Buying spree (say that 3 times fast!!!)?
It seems like you've picked up a TON of nice Barbers in the last couple days. Did you win the lotto or something, or have you just gotten lucky with the selection lately.
It doesn't really matter, those are some nice coins, and your 1897 will be in the mail Tomorrow (Monday).
I spotted this beauty on Connor Numismatics' web site and even though I have a "few" 1898's, I liked the look of this coin; originally, I thought I'd be cracking it out for the Whitman, but the other recent NEWP in ANACS F-15 will be the one getting the crack out [ the Dansco already has a nice AU 50 ].
PCGS Calls this coin VF 35 - I call it 37.5 based on what I've seen in XF 40 holders lately.
Thanks again, Dan.

Stockwitz, that 16-D quarter is absolutely gorgeous!
Oh if they all looked that nice. Just imagine how many wonderful coins there would be if nobody ever even thought of cleaning a coin. My aunt recently destroyed a perfectly crusty VF bust quarter by scouring it with abrasive silver cleaner before taking it down to a coin dealer in town. Arrgh!
To all the Barberphiles out there---HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!!! I wish you all a safe and happy holiday as we remember our road to freedom and independence as a nation...please remember our children, spouses, siblings, and friends that are deployed in harm's way to defend our freedom, in your prayers...they too wish they could be home to celebrate. Regards to all, Dave
Hello there fellow Barber Fans and I hope everyone had a great Independence Day Holiday,
Thought over this holiday I would post a group of Barber's I am sending in for submission. I have accumulated these since early this year over 3 shows to give them a try.
I have some hopes for what I think they will grade at, and should grade at, but to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if one or two came back body bagged the way things are these days. But I can hope anyway, right?
Then my next wish would be to get them in time for the Baltimore ANA or to pick them up there but that is probably wishful thinking on my part.
Thought it would be fun for all to see them before they go in first. We can do some grade guessing closer to when they come back if you want maybe in a separate thread.
Hope you all enjoy the group and can tolerate my so so photographic skills.
PonyExpress8, Very nice group of coins...really like that 1911...nice color and tone...would guess that one would come back as an XF-45--or close to it.
Thanks for the comments everyone. Yes it is a rather cool die break on the 1900-S starting at star 1 through the base of the neckline and ending through star 13 to the rim. While some find die breaks a distraction I personally find them rather fun and cool.
New Barberguy I think you are probably right on for the 1911, it's what I am thinking too.
Dave, Barbercoin and Dogwood thanks for the comments.
Mike thanks for the PM and kind comments as well.
Hope everyone had a safe and meaningful holiday. Except for the fires and air quality which have been pretty bad the past couple of days (again) it was otherwise a good 4th. My best wishes and hopes to the firefighters who are risking their lives to protect homes and property. Along with the families whose homes have been or are threatened or unfortunately lost. Also the short term loss of habitat for nature's creatures.
And we are only just into July!
It is going to be a long summer in the West I'm afraid. It's already been a tough time in the midwest as well with the opposite flooding from too much rain. My best wishes to those who have been negatively impacted there as well.
I love your 98o; very tough date in midgrades, and definitely worth stretching the pocketbook! Here is mine from a couple of years ago with about the same amount of 'meat' left on the bones:
Glenn, Super group of halves you posted; like everyone else, I'm salivating over that 1907s! I'm certain my PM got there before MFH's
Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.
