<< <i>Yeh, and I'll bet there some NGC's are being cracked open now that people see the price disparitiies.

Don't you find it odd that most all of the AGE sets graded 69 or 70 by NGC were either all 69s or all 70s?

Among the sets sold on eBay, 70 sets have sold so far with grades of 69 across the board. (for an average price of $4,566 and declining )...140 sets that have sold have been 70s for all three (with an average price of $6,990). A mere 9 sets had mixed grades.

I'd expect NGC 70s sets to continue dropping. They've gone from the mid to high 8,000s initially, to current sales in the low $6000s, despite the fact that raw prices are increasing as supply dwindles.

Sellers of the NGC 69 sets who are looking to maximize their profits are better off cracking them out and selling them ungraded. Oh, but that's why the 20th AGE boxes keep selling for nice premiums. >>

Right you are there ....now with another shipment this week of thge AGEs.. look another supply blip of the NGCs69 and 70 just like the one that happened after November shipments. Nothing like buying the NGC69s cracking them out and selling them raw , for a profit spread of $$400-700. What a spread and almost risk free.
Where are all the COMEX and CBOT futures' traders ?.... THey would die for such an easy profit like this .

It appears as if prices are softening on eBay a bit further in advance of the mint's AGE distribution, with the last 3 raw sets selling for $4,200, $4,400 & $4,000. This is similar to market declines after the mint made it's previous distribution toward the end of October. Prices also have softened on graded AGEs as well, though the most of the selling is of the NGC graded coins and sets.

Here's another interesting observation....Average prices recognized since this started for a graded 3 coin set:

    NGC...........$6,075 (233 sets)

    PCGS.........$7,665 ( 72 sets)

That's an awesome statement (IMO) of how much more collectors value PCGS's grading of these sets.

    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!
  • I have two gold sets and I am keeping them the way I got them from the Mint. I personally like them in their case. I did grade the reverse proof silver at NCGS and got two 70s.
  • 53BKid,

Why do you think that so many more NGC sets have been sold on ebay as compared to PCGS? And at far less prices? If my memory serves me correctly, both TPGs have graded roughly the same amount of sets.

This is not a knock or plug for NGC or PCGS, I am just curious as to your thoughts as you have been tracking these sets very closely.

For full disclosure, my business goes to PCGS.

With AGE sets, raw sets are now likely to be cracked out NGC Sets

with low chance of making a PCGS 70 grade.Coins in origonal boxes

are no guarantee of origonal status. The only protection one has,

as to what you are actually buying, is the PCGS First Strike Gold and Silver Sets.

I do not believe that there are many sealed from the Mint Gold sets extent.

These Sets should not only survive the test of time, but they should be on a steady

upward price trend, as the supply continues to fall short of market demand.

Highest price paid on eBay for PCGS RP PR70 is $6237.00 among the first 5 sold.

Average price paid for the 43 that have sold there is $5,034 and declining.

The Last 5 sets have all sold beneath $5000.00

    I hope this helps-

Last 10 raw sets on eBay have sold for an average of $4,462, almost $1,000 less than unopened sets.

There are only 6 raw available on eBay now, the lowest since the beginning of the program in early September.

    Supplies are drying up.

It should be interesting to see what happens to prices once the mint finally completes deliveries and cancells the remaining outstanding orders.

With the mint finalizing their distribution of product and cancelling outstanding backorders, it should be interesting to see what happens to pricing from here on.

Ebay sales of raw sets have declined signficantly, with sealed sets heavily influencing average pricing. Several sealed sets have sold between $4,750 and $5,500.

Individual sets with the Unc and Proof ineligible for the 20th Anniversary designation, have been going for anywhere between $4,150 and $4,825.

However, the number of sets available has dwindled signficantly to just 4 raw sets as of now. This is quite a bit less than over the past month, and dramatically less than during the height of distribution when some 30-40 sets were available on any given day.

There is still some supply being held by dealers who didn't get the price they hoped for...... so that may still dampen prices in the short term

Hmm...I didn't get my two sets back from PCGS until early December. Anyone think it's time to sell, or will prices rebound?
