I think we are all holding our breath waiting for the Mint to stop sending out the coins. (those who have them that is). I'd like to see the number on ebay fall.
On a brighter note:
I sent two Rev Pr. to PCGS, the best I had, with no marks or anything..... I got: 1 PR70 !!!!! and 1 PR69 (dang). I guess this is proof a regular submission can get a 70, just not two.
The thing is, I was hoping for two 70's then I could sell one and keep one. Now, I don't want to sell my best coin !!!

I was one of the first to get the coins, so the rules were not out yet, thus the box was opened.
I got the First Strike and 20th. label. PCGS will allow FS/20th for the Unc "W" and the Rev Pr. for the first 30 days. After that you need a sealed box.
But, these were spotless gems. My Unc "W" wouldn't have been 70's, they had a 'shiny' nick or two or three, on them.
The Reg. proofs are really nice and I might have a 70, I really didn't look to hard because they are not eligable for the labels, so I can grade later or not grade at all.
Bottom line is: I had 10 sets, sent in my best two coins and got 1 - 70. Those are your odds folks and I figure I'm one of the lucky ones.
As of this afternoon, they moved a lot of the backorders to expect shipment 11/6/06...I assume that meant that the orders might only be filled if people returned their's, and that I was out of luck.
When I spoke with a mint rep, she assured me saying that more would be delivered next week--
I'm so sick of this. Why can't they just be square with collectors?
<< <i>just got off the phone with the mint, i guess someone else will get my set. seems they are using older/out of date account info or something. track order page still says in stock and reserved but customer service person tells me that my visa CC denied the ammount. i tell her i have a mastercard registered with my account and they say nothing can be done. i hang up and go into my account online and there is my mastercard info. no visa. i probably used one in the past but its not recent. i got screwed. oh well... >>
This sounds familiar! Happened to me in the past. In my case, I notified the mint of the credit card changes. And they still had the old credit card info somewhere on file, causing my coin order to get cancelled.
IMHO, the best thing to do is cancel your account with the mint and set up another one because the mint WILL NOT contact you if there are discrepancies with your account!!
I agree! "U got screwed." It's unfortunate, and I'm sorry to hear that. It's to bad the mint doesn't have better customer service to address issues such as these!

Come on ...can't let this thread die down.. for the many who were disappointed for no 3 pc sets ..don't give up. Over the last week, put together a 69 NGC set for a combined $ 3,600.00 . Keep on trying ..buy dips

I don't really know, but check David Lawrence's site. He has prices in his auctions, as well as, fixed pricing in the $6000 range for certified and non. Regards, Michael
What's happening on ebay is interesting. the higher prices are maintaining slightly above $5100 mark, but there are a lot more $5400s and above just sitting there now with no bids.
Whereas a week ago it was rare to see any trade at $4850-4800 now the lower end price is moving lower still.
It should be interesting to see what happens if the mint delivers more this week or next.

The 3 pc raw sets today are trading in the area of $$ 4700 - 4800 vs a top of $$ 6100 on October 10th . The raw sets will continue to drift lower , but the NGC 69 sets will continue to firm. The NGC 70 and PCGS 70 sets have not been able to hold their price levels which suggests lower prices ahead.
There's an inventory overhang as the flippers sell to cover their CC bills. In adition, no one really knows whether all have been distributed from the Mint as of yet. The market will settle, the excess dry up, and the ball game will change.

NGC universe is much larger with 86 individual coins and 74 sets sell on eBay:
Prices are much lower as 70s seem to be a very high percentage of grades.
On eBay there have only been 428 ungraded sets sold since presales started listing with an average price of $4122. Prices peaked on October 5 at $5640 per set and have been declining steadily ever since. The average price this week has been $4896, including a couple of unopened mailings from the mint.
The IRS MAN is salivating..... over 2 Mil.. of Ebay sales for 4 weeks of 2006 AGEs. Have a set of NGC 70s and some of PCGS 69s ..they all look great. Why so few sets of PCGS ?
Mint is showing my set shipped on Oct. 7 by USPS. I still haven't recieved it. Customer Service is telling me 2-3 weeks by mail. The tracking number on the mint's web site won't track. I usually get less expensive items from mint in about 3 days. I guess I'll sit tight for a couple more days to see what happens.
You have a problem. Your set should have been an overnight delivery. Whoever told you 2 or 3 weeks didn't know what they were talking about. The fact that your tracking number doesn't work should be a BIG RED FLAG.
My sets came overnight via FedEx. Get the proper tracking number from the mint and contact FedEx.
I have always wondered if the IRS tracks ebay auctions and such.
As only an occasionally seller, it doesn't have much impact on me. But I am selling an AGE set. Is it pretty common practice to declare this stuff now?
<< <i>It is a legal requirement. The penalties for not declaring are pretty stiff, not to metion the living hell you will experience going through an audit >>
Do you have to declare all profits made on coins, or is there a minimum $$ amount?
What if you trade your AGE set for another coin? Is there still a tax liability?

MCADSPEC--If the mint sent the coins via USPS then they sent the coins Registered mail. I got 9 sets to my po box and the actual shipping date on the box was several days after the mints official ship date. I wouldn't worry about it. If they say the set was shipped you'll get it. Just not as fast as Fed Ex.

Prices of ungraded sets are continuing to slip on ebay.
Many sets with minimum bids above $5000 are failing to get bids. One listed with a $4600 minimum bid failed to sell today. Several sets have current bids around $3900-4150. Not that they'll sell there, but it is an indication that things arestarting to cool off some recently.
