Maybe if y'all don't get enough takers you can start offering a three pack buy in to finish it off. I think the six pack deal might be a bit stiff for some. Just an idea. I think this whole thing is an amazing idea.
I was 16 during the summer of '75, the last season I opened any packs as a kid. The chance to relive my youth -- you bet. Please put me down for 1 block (6 packs), Zef. And thanks for being the point man for all of us...
It is great that you guys are trying to make this happen. I sure picked the right time to get back into the hobby after 15+ years. Put me down for a full box please

Welcome back to the hobby, Rob!
The running total after your reservation is 264 - 36 = 228! Well over half-way per an earlier post from zef.
Awesome! I'm amazed at the momentum of this project!
We should get SMR to do a story on this if it happens. It would be a great promotion for their forums/website! Maybe they could do two stories; one after the case is purchased (assuming all packs get spoken for) to show how we pulled it off and a second story down the road summarizing the results of the case break and showing photos of some of the graded cards that resulted from the break.

might be a BAD promotion! How to turn 25k into a pile of kindling! j/k good luck with the break!

Would I be the only one who may (or may not!) get all of my packs graded and put them aside for at least awhile?? Especially if Collectors Universe offers a commemorative label -- and/or they came directly to you that way??
I can dream, can't I?? I know that's not what zef's dreams are made of.

If there is a special label, I will likely get them all graded.
But, as a non-recovering gambling addict, I may not be able to resist opening one. The problem with opening one, is that it always leads to "just one more."

Zef, bump me up to 12 packs. now the wife and the mother in law will both be angry!!!! let me know amount needed when everything finalized and I'll paypal....... al.
For those of you considering doing this, here's the math: a 6 pack lot will get you 60 cards
there are 45 cards that are not commons or 7% of the set. you will be purchasing 9% of the set. what this means is that mathmatically, you *should* get just over 1 non common card
using SMR as our guide if you sent all 60 cards in to PSA your expected gross would be: All 7s: $288 (common card: $4) All 8s: $596 (common card: $8) All 9s: $2,051 (common card: $22)
depending on the card, a single 10 would bring in the several thousands as about half the set has a pop 0 for 10s including some of the "Big Boys".
Ah hell, I've convinced myself, put me in for another 6 (12 total).
***disclaimer*** Projected gross is based off of SMR not actual sales. As with any pack investment, there is always the chance you will not make any money (diamond cuts, poor centering, focus issues, print defects, etc). I personally have never opened a pack of 1975 Topps Minis and have no experience with the typical condition or average grade of cards pulled. You should never spend more money on packs than you can afford to lose.

<< <i>How many cards should you expect to be gum or wax damaged per pack? 1, 2, or 3? >>
I would expect 2 to be "damaged" per pack. However, if there is a card per pack that has wax on the fron of the card, I'm sure someone here could let you know how that situation is remidied.
The wax cards wont be a problem. I bought a pack from steve at national and this card was on the back and full of wax. It can come off and look how it turned out.
So i wouldn't worry about the card on the back i would worry about the gum stained cardand then even that card depends.
off topic for a minute but since im braggin up bbcs products heres 2 more gems i got from boxes i bought from steve at national
my point i guess is i've always got good stuff from steve he seems to get his hands on primo stuff so hopefully all of us will get some nice 8,9 or 10's out of this case. I'm sure it's a primo case or steve wouldn't have it.
This is almost getting to me! Would someone be willing to submit for me to PSA ( I think my memberhsip has run out). Also, is anyone considering getting their packs graded and just holding onto them? Will PSA grade packs any time soon?
