Here is a card that I thought for sure is a PSA 9, but it seems that PSA does not agree with me...oh well, the card is mind-blowing colorful and gorgeous.....
Only thing I can think is that it was penalized for the slight red ink on the upper left border. Because other than that it is certainly a 9.
After all these years, I managed to pick up these last two cards that I need in PSA 9 to complete my Basic Set in all PSA 9's except for the Mantle which is a PSA 8.5. With the price of 9 Mantle's in the six figures now, I will be happy with my 8.5 Mantle.
Both cards are pop 3 and are just about impossible to find.....

Thanks Guys! That Hunter is a bear of a card and the Owens is gorgeous. Congrats on both cards! I picked up the Hegan and Torgeson in the Heritage auction also. The cards all came from the Walt Bettinger set that was broken up by Heritage....he is the CEO of Charles Schwab.

I just added this newly graded beauty to my set.....
Beautiful card Don .......looks like a 10 ......................copied from Wiki
Abernathy spent five years (1958–62) toiling in minor league baseball before returning to the majors as a bullpen ace for the 1963 Indians. Sold to the Cubs in April 1965, Abernathy recorded a league-leading 31 saves (again for a second-division team), along with 104 strikeouts and a 2.57 ERA. He had 28 saves, 88 strikeouts, and a 1.27 ERA two seasons later with Cincinnati. In both 1965 and 1967, he led the league in saves, and won the TSN Reliever of the Year Award. In 1968, Abernathy won 10 games with 13 saves, and had 10 wins and 14 saves in 1970. He led the National League in games pitched three times: 1965 (with 84, a major-league record at the time), 1967 and 1968.

Nice Spencer Don. I just picked up this Sparky 8. It looked like a sure fire 9 bump but on closer inspection is has a bit of print issues around the cap and background that would likely prohibit it from bumping. I still think an 8.5 is in order since the card is otherwise so strong.
Hey, congratulations on the Triandos. It's a tough one and you got a beauty. My last card in PSA 8 was Wally Moon. Don't know why, just seemed that I was never looking in the right place at the right time. Now go get that Mantle!

What a great Rice. Almost, (like Hunter) impossible to fine centered.
That Rice card is very nice. I can't believe the prices that these cards are going for now. Anybody have a crystal ball into this?

Here’s my latest pick up. Would have liked better centering but a tough card to find in this grade.
Shantz is one tough card....it always has some level of centering issues....congrats on your 8!

Shanty, Pierce AS, and Hunter were the three toughest cards for me ro find in PSA 8.
There are plenty of super tough cards but those three are right there with all of them.

Anyone else have one of these, Lee Walls without the bottom right border defect ?
There is a tinge of yellow but the border is straighter than on most of the cards
I have never seen one without the yellow. That is the least amount of yellow I have seen.
Man that’s a real beauty Don.
I have a raw super set now and so much wanted to have it graded however I don’t have $$$$$$$
Right now.
Been spending to much on my car.
My latest addition
Al....I have never seen a Walls without quite a bit of yellow....the card on the right is close to no yellow....amazing.
Tony....thank you....and congrats on your complete raw set.
John....another great 59 in Fitzgerald....another tough card in the set.
