Fox struck out only 216 times in almost 10,000 at bats. In 1959 he was doing his imitation of The Thinker

Also, if you rearrange the letters to Pitchers Beware, you get "Paw is beer retch." Coincidence?

And Dick is still with us at 81, and was All Star in 1960. Those 59 All Stars were great, but mostly busts

Do Rice Krispies make the same snap, crackle, pop sounds with bourbon as they do with milk?

Wow, indeed. A truly incredible specimen of a tremendous card.

  • marinermariner Posts: 2,603 ✭✭✭✭

    Thanks, everyone!

Robbie....my last group was 16 cards and I got three 10's from bumps......keep in mind though that I examine the cards in the holders very closely and only submit ones that I think have a chance at a bump. Still, 3 PSA 10's out of 16 cards is pretty awesome!

Here is the next one.....I will play this out slow and post the third one soon. :)

This Philley card is a tough card and tough in a 9.....I am thrilled that mine hit the 10 jackpot!

Beautiful card Don ........the black background and Dave's name in white just make that card Pop out !!!!!!!!
I had not heard of Philley before and looked up his playing days ...........seems he had a long career from 1941 to 1962 .......I thought it was really neat that his last name matched the Teams nickname .........played for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1958 to 1960 and earlier in his career played for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1951 to 1953 ...........I can just imagine how cool it must have been for a radio broadcaster back then to say " Now batting Dave Philley for the Phillies " ! Might be the only player in the history of the game to match his last name with the team's name !

I agree!!! I immediately started thinking about every team name/player name combination I could. Most were easy--I couldn't think of anyone named Randy Red Sox, Dave Highlander, or Steve Yankee, but Brown was "low hanging fruit." Brewer seemed like the next most obvious, but no dice. I'll be interested to see if there are any others.
