I'm starting to rescan all my cards and have large, high resolution scans of the front and back. While doing so, I realized that my Weeb Ewbank was signed on the front and back....very sweet!

I've had some wonderful success lately w/ my TTM request. In the last week, I'm gotten cards back from:

    Bob Kuechenberg
    Harold Jackson
    Charlie Sanders
Paul Tagliague (almost 1 year wait!)
    Dan Reeves
    Ara Parseghian
    Lou Holtz
    Bill Kilmer
    Dick Stanfel
    Bill Stanfill
    Jim Bakken
    Dermontti Dawson

Bob Kuechenberg is the best. He sign my 1976 Topps card as "Bob Kuechenberg, 17-0, All is Within" and my 1990 Notre Dame card as "Bob Kuechenberg, ND #1, All is Within" and he personalized my index card and said "Your Friend, Bob Kuechenberg". What an A-1 class act. I have another 21 that I'm waiting on and so far only 1 has been rejected (Norm Snead).

BTW, I finally saw a scan of a Fritz Pollard autograph. It's on a scrap of paper and the person is asking $3k...unreal!

    Greg,

Do you have a scan that you could post or pm me. I would love to see what a Pollard signature looks like!

Hey Greg, just have knuckles create the missing cards and send them in for auto only grades...heres the copy of the post from July 10th.

    Hey Greg,

If you need a Thorpe for your collection, have Knuckles create a Thorpe card for you. You won't be able to register it to your set with the $20. Authentic only special. I found a way around adding a card to the set registry. You have to send it to PSA/DNA and pay what ever fee they charge for Thorpes autograph, and request an "AUTO GRADE ONLY" they won't grade the card, only the signature and give it a grade. Once you recieve the grade for the signature, you can add it in your set registry. I found this out awhile back, when I was having problems adding my own cut signatures to the set registry. Because PSA changed their grading procedures, everything must now be sent to PSA/DNA and you must write on the invoice "AUTO GRADE ONLY" or they will just put the word Authentic and it won't register in the set. Customer service can't help you, nobody at PSA will help you add it to the set because it's an unlicensed card. Then you have the pain and hassel of resubmitting it back to them and be charged another fee again just to get them to give you an auto only grade.

I hope this helps, I want to see you hit #1 Your set rocks!!!

I didn't mean anything by my comment....it's a very nice autograph. I just can't believe the guy wants $3k...then again, it's the first Pollard autograph that I've seen. I really don't know how tough his autograph is...

I would guess there are less than 50 of his autographs around. Maybe way less. But either way, most if not all are buried in collections never to see the light of day. And take into account that of the total number of autographs he has signed, how many are 'cut' examples, 'light' from time or taped on something. Tuff Stuff magazine shows no price for any type of autograph. Meaning it is not just rare, almost non-existent.

I just can't imagine that his signature is that rare. He was over 80 when he died and was a successful business man while he was alive - how rare can his sigature be? I bet his family has no idea what his signature is worth....

Very true. I would have expected once his HOF Induction was announced, the market to be flooded with his autographs (as seen with Friedman). Friedman is tough, but not impossible to find. Certainly not as expensive. Hey, I wish there were more Pollard autographs around. I have only seen the one discussed in this thread. I would love to get it but yeah, it's expensive. Maybe i'll get on a payment plan!!

Ok, so now that the 2 Senior Candidates have been announced, does anyone know if Marshall Goldberg or Emmitt Thomas has a certified autograph in any product. I just did a quick search of ebay and couldn't find anything of either.

    Reese,

Yep - the Conzelman is #'d to 9...I just forwarded to you a scan...it's very nice. I can't belive I found it!! Now, I have to find a few that you already have (Henry Jordan, Arnie Herber). I'd really like to crack the 20 mark by the end of the year.

BTW, I'm going to send an auto request to Emmitt Thomas...I'll let you know what happens. Any luck finding a Goldberg? I can't find one ANYWHERE!!

That Conzelman is a beauty! The signature is clean and actually fits in the space. It's much nicer than my Conzelman postcard.

I haven't found either Emmitt Thomas or Marshall Goldberg. I looked all weekend!!! I checked every website I could think of and came up with nothing. Good luck with the TTM to Thomas, I hope he starts signing now that he is pretty much a lock to get in the hall. Keep me updated!

    Reese,

$1k...which is crazy. Len Ford autographed gum cards typically sell in the $300 to $500 range...but the card the person sold was a 2002 Legendary Cut. A little high in my opinion, but I'd probably overpay for some of the cards that I currently need.

    Thanks Frank,

Roastedcat posted a while ago that there was a get them graded with an "autograde only" and then it could be added. I don't know if anyone has tried it, but it sounded like it would cost more to go that route. I will get them graded and if I can add them to my set that is great, if not, thats ok too. Right now, this set can't be completed 100%. I want an autograph of each and every member, regardless of what the registry allows.

By my count, I've now got autographs of 224 of the 241 members! Its getting tough to find autographs image

I think I'm going to be sick. I found this by accident earlier this evening. Its the Chicago Cardinals HOF owner Charles Bidwell Sr autograph. Tuff Stuff has it valued at $700. The seller had it titled as "Football, 1940's Autographed album page 4 signatures" and in the item description, had the name "Charles Bridwell" It sold for $125 !?!? I've contacted the buyer and he's not going to sell. image The search continues....

    Jay,

I saw the same thing...that's very interesting. I wonder how they'll grade items slabbed authentic. I think what the set means is that you could add auto'd cards, index cards, checks, ect... as long as the item has been PSA/DNA authenticated.

    Greg and Frank,

My understanding would be any PSA/DNA cert. auto would count. That could be a ball, card, ticket, photo, check, letter, cut auto etc. I think there is something like this for a baseball set already.

By being on the list I mean requested set list.
