Just came in the mail today!

    image

What do you think is keeping it from an 8? Print spots?? centering?Corners are sharp...even sharper in reality than scan shows.

Centering is okay for an 8 (I measure about 30/70 T/B), so unless there's something weird going on with the back, I'd say it has to be the print spots.

    Just purchased:

  • This is the earliest card for Jeffries I've been able to discover existing. Not in high-grade condition but for a black-bordered card over 100 years old I'm pleased.

1901 Ogden's Tabs F Series Jem Jeffries (HOF)

If anyone knows what the proper dimensions are for these cards I would GREATLY appreciate it.

    Sweet Dempsey card Arthur.

Just out of curiosity - what's SMR on that card?

    mike

edit: BTW, do you have this card?

Thanks Mike. SMR is $200 for the Dempsey. I haven't really picked up any Adventure cards yet. I think I've got a pretty OC raw Braddock somewhere around here. There seems to be so much raw in decent shape that I thought I would wait for some deals and role the dice grading them. We'll see. That's a nice Louis. How ae the corners? Because that's really good centering for those Adventure cards from what I've seen.

Man, you're fast. I sniped with 12 seconds left and you caught that? I wish my computer could operate like that. image

Thanks a bunch halosfan, I really appreciate it. I had been watching that thing since the seller put up. Did you bite on the Robinson RC? That was a great price and any other day I would've jumped on that but there are just so many Dempseys! image

    Thanks again image

    Nice Kobe's!

Arthur, I would have but I pulled the trigger elsewhere just before on a card I'll post a scan of when I get it this week! Kinda stoked about this one but it did take me away from some nice boxing cards this past week. (damn my wife for getting me to be judicous at times ... grrrr.)

  • Xphunk, I agree with you about the '88 FB set. I've always liked that set and I like the price tags on them even more. Topps osrt of lost me in '89 but that '88 set is great. Keep us posted on how you do.

Picked up my first 1910 E75 American Caramel today. Pretty banged up but everyone's gotta start somewhere. image

Am I the only one that's surprised that a dude with a head *that* big was a professional boxer?

I mean, a blind guy could hit Dempsey in the noggin.

The corners are like the grade - an 8 is ok.

I bought the card at Coach's Corner - sometimes they don't get attention. Don't remember what I paid but it was definitely no where 200$ - I wouldn't have needed the card that bad!

  • I think Stingray and Arnyvee have the same Motorola pager that lawnmowerman has. But instead of theirs going off at the slightest mention of Emmitt Smith they're set to go off when someone mention '84 Donruss. image

Now watch, Matt will be here in minutes to see why someone mentioned Emmitt. image

The 84D Ryan is incredible - do you have a larger scan of it? A beauty.

I haven't erased it in a long, long time.

    Does anyone have this many?

You would think I've been pissing a lot of people off and receiving way too many pm's!!!

Hey Zef, nice looking Ringo. A side note: his son is the head of the Physical Rehab center at a local hospital here and he was my therapist after a couple knee surgeries. He said his dad still gets fan mail. I gave him a '55 Bowman card of his dad just to show his kids what "grandpa" did when he was young.
