That Ott has changed hands at least 3 times this year. I was going to go after it, but I've got to wonder now what is up with it.

    fdny-
nice fatima. i've always liked that card, its the only one that has an image of a ballplayer with the same name as me (Daley, middle row). i've got an enlarged photo of the card framed and hanging in my living room. it was given to me by a friend.

I just picked this up(Hey...I'm a Devils fan and this guy is a beast!) for .99 cents!

    1998 BAP Auto

99 Score Supplemental Warner Rc for .50 cents

I also picked up today a 95 Select Certified Terrell Davis rookie for under a buck! Nothing wildly awesome but some nice rookie pickups and another Devils auto!

The seller has a tradition of aweful scans but if you look at the actual cards they are quite nice.

Picked up a bunch of various rookies tonight. All ended between .50-1.10. Most are numbered, but I think I did well. All together I spent less than 20 bucks and got some nice cards(I got them from the same dealer I got the Kurt Warner and Neidermayer auto).

I also picked up a McGahee #ed rookie, 95 SP Garnett die-cut rookie, Antione Wright #ed rookie(to 99), David Pollack #ed rookie(to 99), and a Phillip Rivers Topps Chrome rookie. A few others as well. Basically I spent with shipping an average of a dollar for each card. Not a bad pull, as a few of these will be going in my personal collection and others are ummm "prospecting" so to say! Sorry for the long thread btw!

That's cool. What few "expensive" cards I have, I really like, but it's sweet when you can get a card, or group of cards, that you genuinely want and are happy with their shape - but you spend perhaps a buck a card. Best of all worlds! image
  • Options
Oh I was really happy, I basically stumbled across the seller and found a ton of his auctions were down to the last hour and put bids in for maybe 30 cards, I missed out on some but still pulled in a KG rc, Jason Kidd rc, some Yankee rookies, and that Mike Doss. If he comes through he'll have earned a steady customer from me.

    Great pickups ToppsCo

All that for a few bucks - can't beat it!

Are you gonna have them graded?

I haven't done Bkb or FB in 4 yrs. - I miss it but with Heritage and other stuff - I guess I can't do it all.

I also used to do a Topps base brand from packs every year - gone also.

Remember when Warner RCs were hot, hot, hot!!?

    thanx for sharing

I am definetly glad about the prices! I think I might have some of the "higher end" rookies graded if they are up to it. Like the Doss gold refractor and the Yankee rookies and some of the others if they are worth it. I don't get to bust but maybe 1-3 boxes of new stuff so I basically stick to buying singles. I've always liked Topps stuff ever since I was a little kid(Post 87 Topps is when I started), I started out collecting NFL(NY Giants) and the old 89-90 Topps were my favorite as a youngster. I got that Warner rookie b/c I figure he's going to have atleast another good partial season, and his career numbers are still up there. It's a nice pickup imo for under a buck.

I don't collect Hockey and that's why I'm glad some of you put them up.

Ya know, for an 85OPC - the design is simple and more classic in appearance IMO. I like it!

'85 OPC is one of the greats. I've made a half-a$$ attempt to put it together in PSA 9 but there's not a lot out there. This Yzerman is definitely one of my favorites.

Wow, some sweet pics on this thread! I love the fro on Gamble! image

Here are some of my recent pickups...

    image

I met Mr. Hannah a few weeks ago at BC Collectibles. Great guy, very friendly.

    image

Since Dwight Evans retired I've not had a real "favorite" Red Sox player. But I love the way this kid plays, the determination he shows, and how he takes it all in stride. The day he came out with a mohawk hair cut, I knew he was my new favorite! image

    image

I got this on Ebay for $20. I am not 100% sure it is legit, but it is a cool looking piece.

    image

I recently went to see my best friend in Boston. We went to a local card shop and I picked this up for $53. As I said, I really like this kid, and I thought this would look sweet framed. The rest of the time was a bummer, cause I was at the Sox/Rangers game that was rain delayed for 5 hours. After the 4th hour we left...only to have the game start an hour later.

And I know this last one does not quite fit in with the theme of the thread, but I have to share it anyway. image

    image

Yes guys, I got me a new chair that is ALL MINE!!! And dam, ain't it comfortable! image

I'm gonna put it to good use soon. Caught my thumb fingernail on a rail today and ripped it part way off. image Oh well, a stiff drink and my new recliner should help ease the pain. image

    Congratulations on your new "home."

On the Ruth item - that's the second one that's come up recently - is that your pic of the item or ebay?

I would check closely for possible artificial aging or for that matter - is the aging a "photo-copy" of aging?

Knuckles - Nice Jersey. The more wear on a game used hockey jersey, the better. While we don't have the NHL in Cincinnati, I am getting my Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL version) back this coming season. When the Cyclones were in the old IHL, I became friends with Gilbert Dionne. I picked up one of his 92-93 game used Canadians jersey a few years ago. They won the cup that year and I have several photos of him wearing the jersey. Before he moved back to Canada, he signed it for me. I had tried it on and it was too small for me to wear, but I felt better that it looked small on him too!

    John

That may qualify under the "hardcore" thread - ya know you are hardcore...

when your wife steals the mailbox to keep you from getting more stuff!

or the mailman steals your mailbox to keep you from getting more stuff!

Why would anyone do that? I live in a development where the mailboxes are constructed with the same stuff as the house - so it is solid brick or stucco! They may knock it down but definitely NOT steal!

Don't need to make "another" thread about grading - but I was looking for 63F's and this one was there.

Does anyone truly believe this is a "no qualifier?"

I guess somewhere there is a very nice PSA 8 with an OC qualifier?

Wow. What a collection of stuff. I'm always amazed at what pops up here.

I just completed a trade with a fellow board member (another Mike!) for an Exhibit card of an old Washington Senator, Cecil Travis. Cecil played from 1933-1941, went off to war, and played a couple more years after returning. A short bio can be read on him at BaseballLibrary.com and his complete hitting/fielding stats can be found at Baseball-reference.com. If he hadn't frozen his feet in the war, he very well could have been a Hall of Famer...
