Matt.......the dot is from the scanner, the borders are snow white and clean. I submitted 2 84 Donruss Mattingly's, both came back 9's, and my other one is actually nicer than this one.

Stone - the Garagiola is actually a business card made by Topps in 1976, using the '73 design. It has Joe Garagiola's NBC address and telephone number on the reverse, printed over his stats. According to the pop report, only 4 have been graded (two 6's, an 8 and a 9). I'm not sure if it's rare or just too goofy for anyone to care. I picked it up for $3.

Donato...thanks.....Mike too.....and I kinda figured the Munson would come back an 8, the centering was just a bit off for a 9 & one corner had the slightest touch.
Here is the rest of my recent submission.......

Did you buy them already graded or sent them in? I am questioning, b/c I am trying to figure out how much it costs to send a PSA/DNA certified authentic in to be "upgraded" to a Graded Signature...anyone know?
Missed out on this one tonight, thought I had a decent shot with a bid of $75, closed at $110. SMR is $55. Centering is nice Nicer color too (no toning).
I bought them already graded. I don't really about the PSA/DNA grading process, but I do know that any graded baseball in recent Mastro, Heritage, Vintage Authentics, and eBay auctions (etc., etc.) are selling at pretty high premiums. I paid $295 for the Mays, and there's one in the current Mastro auction that's at about $350. There's a Joe D. ball that's graded as a 10 on eBay right now that is close to $800.
I, like you, have been looking for info. on how to submit and what it costs, so please post when/if you find out.
nateluck......superb balls...........I just got this done by PSA/DNA when they were in my area 2 weeks ago......its a 1958 Pirates team signed ball. 30 Sigs in all, with the highlight being of course the Clemente. Others include Bill Mazeroski, Ted Kluszewski, Dick Groat, Roman Mejias, Bob Skinner, Bill Virdon, Roy Face, Bob Friend, Ron Kline, Vern Law, Hank Foiles, Dick Schofield, and so on.....
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
The Powell's just a 3. There's a 1/4" wrinkle at the bottom edge, just to the left of his glove. Might have been a 4 on a good day, but I'm still pleased with the purchase. I actually already had a very nice 2 of the card, but I'm trying to collect the St. Louis players with as many different backs as possible.
those autos are incredible! I know you pay more for all that but well worth it!
Steve
I kind of like the horizontal T206s - are there a lot in the set? More important is the PSA 10 from the hospital! Congratulations - nice pic and I can tell you're a happy dad! All my best.
bri
The color on the Munson is perfect! None of the usual fisheyes - that card is one corner from perfection! That 58 Pirate team ball - WOW!!! Nice Clemente sig - where did you get the ball and how much did PSA charge to authenticate it? A real prize!
Scott
Very nice Babich! What is the % of cost, in general, for a 5 compared to 7s from that set? If I could get 5s across the board that looked like that - who needs better! Too bad about the Moses - went over smr; does that say something about centering for that set or what?

I'm a Rice fan - great action shot and far better than his action shots on Dancing with the Stars! My wife watched the show - I saw the finale - she told me he improved immensely - compared to what? Sure glad he played football way better - I like when he was with Oakland. IMO, the best receiver of all time.
Well that was a lot! Keep it up guys - I haven't even bought a stick of gum on ebay!!!
Thanks ! I was looking for a 75 Munson like that for 2 years. I will take a slightly touched corner over the print flaws and OC cards you usually see for an 8 any day.
The Pirates ball cost me $150 to authenticate. I had it done at a place right up the road from me called Cardboard Memories. If anyone saw the HBO special on forgeries they might recognize the name. HBO did a segment of the show from the shop, talking with the owner briefly, as he is a well respected guy in the industry, and consults with PSA often. Anyhow, PSA/DNA was there a couple of weeks back for a few hours, so I jumped at the chance of having it done in person rather than sending it out.
As far as the balls history here is what I know.....the ball was given to me by my good friend who is also my cousins husband. He grew up in Cincinnati, and his father had been fairly affluent in the community and had many connections, one of which was a friendship with Pete Rose.....well, his father passed away, left him the ball among other things. The ball is also a Warren Giles national league ball....Giles, who was commiss at the time, had also been high up in the Reds organization before that.....still with me ? Anyhow, from what my cousin remembers the ball was given to his father at some function in Cincy......couldnt tell you why a Pirates and not Reds ball, but either way, we assume whoever it was, and it may have even been Rose, had it and gave it to him as a gift. I know, it all seems so vague, but thats the best we were able to come up with since his father is no longer here to fill in the holes. Either way, I was just glad to see such a nice piece, and even happier to hear PSA/DNA's praise and approval of its authenticity.
For anyone who enjoys team signed balls, here is another from my collection....it is a 1979 American League All Star Team signed ball featuring Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Carl yastrzemski, Rod Carew, Reggie Jackson, Lefty gomez, Bob Lemon, Jim Rice, Guidry, Nettles, Singleton, Cooper & basically everyone else on the team.....I have it displayed with an original A.S. ballot from the game, as well as a game program.....

Thanks, Stone! Just six horizontals in the set. I still need the coveted Harry Pattee. It sells for much more than the other five and for good reason: It's one of the few cards in the set that was only issued in the 150 series, and it's simply a beautiful card.

I think I just found my niche with the T206 set - the full group of horizontals!!
And I don't care about the corners as long as the pics look good - since I will be "safe" mounting them in a picture frame.
Joe Birmingham - Cleveland George Mullin - Detroit Danny Murphy - Philadelphia (A) Harry Pattee - Brooklyn Barney Pelty - St. Louis (A) Jack Powell - St. Louis (A)
This is an album of vintage cigarette cards from an estate sale. The seller deals in all kinds of estate sale items, so in my opinion, there is a very good chance these "non-glued" items, have not been "cherry picked" thru.
From my experience, you can sometimes "strike gold" buying old albums from an estate.
Plus it is lots of fun going thru these old cards, trying to figure out what hell they all are!
Great pickup Jery! Super deal considering a signed Fox ball can go anywhere between 1-3grand.. (from what I've seen). I'll let you know when I receive it!
Amazing to see how the perception of a female body has changed over a relatively short period of time.....nice cards though......but watch out, some of those if graded may need a "ST" qualifier !

Corn - nothing like getting a toughy - especially after a few tries. Nice card.
Hope these two don't show up too big (if so. I apologize in advance) - Andale has a way of doing that. Knuckles may enjoy the second one - good old school hockey. Sharpie sig of Howie Meeker is starting to fade though .
BoxSox that Howie Meeker picture is awesome.. The promoter for the large Vancouver show is getting me to make cards of Meeker and Beliveau who will be signing guests.. I've got to find that same pic in better quality, it's great.
Knuckles - sadly, it is a paper photocopy of a fine picture that Howie autographed at a store in Vancouver. I found it in my closet today. I'd love to get you to do a Meeker for me too (or a Bobby Baun) - but alas my auto is too big and evidently fading. Can anything retard the process?
