That's a stunning display. I'm in awe. Here's your picture. Let me add that the price seems extremely reasonable, too. What would the Clemente alone sell for?
Thanks AJ!! There were 2 other Clemente signed pieces in the auction. One went for $3750 as it was in letter form & the other went for $2250, signed on a drawing of him. I could not be happier. Thank God for refinancing!!! I have wanted to build a 64 Giant autographed piece probably since 85, so this is huge day for me!
I picked up a few cards today, but I see there are some nice autographed versions recently displayed above (Clemente/Kaline/Spahn -- my first '64T Giants ever!!). I also picked up a 1970T Super of Tom Seaver (an SP according to SMR Online) and 3 1971T Supers, including another Seaver and the two below. The Supers are also the first I've ever owned of those sets.
1971T Super Rose and Yaz with some "lip prints" on his cheek!
<< <i>i finally landed a tony c... not bad for under $20 >>
Congratulations Brian But I had you on the 65T set? Are you doing the 64T set? It's a favorite of mine although I have very few - do have the John RC and the Mantle.
Mike I really like the Supers although I have never collected any - there's just too much out there and not enough time or money!
Halo Are you doing the set - and if so - what are the keys - any pics?
For anyone who collects games, this is a must - the Mickey Mantle Big League Baseball Game.
My understanding is that the Mantle "portrait" doesn't survive the game and the "game cards" get messed up also.
You can bet that these games got a lot of 'play' on a rainy saturday afternoon with nothing else to do! Mom makes the popcorn and serves the cold Yoo Hoo and the "Mick" does the rest!!!
Nice Schoendienst. You got it at a good price, too. I was thinking about bidding on it, but we're supposed to be scaling back due to our upcoming move. I like that set.
"Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well."
I can't seem to get enough of this card seeing as I'm a big Clemens fan and also a Desert Storm VET.
It's probably going to be the last card I'll be getting for a long time. That problem with the tampered PSA 7 Orr rookie has really soured me on this hobby (of which I've only returned to recently).
Very nice Berra!! a true EX example? or does it have the dreaded wrinkle? True EX or EX/MNT cards are very nice.
GREAT JOB!!!!
Now for my latest edition to the 65 set................this example is the nicest centered one that i have seen and I paid almost the same as examples that have worse centering by far. The 2 print dots can't be seen unless magnified as they are very loght and small.
The reverse is centered like the front too.
Edited to add:
Brian hang in there buddy, we all have a horror story too. I have one as well. Do not let the rotten apples spoil the party!
Steve Really nice Horton. Looking forward to owning my first card higer than a 7. As for the Berra, there doesn't appear to be any surface wrinkles but it truly has "5" corners, espescially the upper right one. To me it still presents really nice for the grade. Thanks for the compliment.
Scott i only asked cuz at times PSA will give a card a 5 when it has sharp corners but a mild wrinkle.....Id prefer the touched corners myself.......looks like you did well.
Stone, this statement is why I love this thread. "You guys bring so many different items and more importantly give people ideas for new areas to jump in."
Thanks for starting it! I'm still waiting on a few more to arrive that I can post here.
Edited to add I need to use bigger scans
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
The USPS was very nice to me yesterday as I received about a dozen 57s for my set. This one just stood out as a perfect picture of the time period. Plus, I really like the corners and overall condition of this PSA 7.

Arny the Bridges card is that from the scarce 4th series?
i agree the 72 set does epitomise the 70's with that Peter Max style art work.
Kirk I too have been building an 84 set in Gem.......raw and having a blast doing it. I have around 10.000 cards in 2 monster boxes and have been searching each example and choosing what i feel is the best. If you need any (Raw) LMK. I'll See what i can do. Commons ok?
In todays mail i received this 50 card set:
1934 Carreras cigerettes (English) "believe it or not"
cost? .30 per card delivered.
......just trying to average out that 700.00 1965 Topps common I just bought..........when it arrives I will show you how nuts a 65 collector can be.
<< <i>Arny the Bridges card is that from the scarce 4th series? >>
It sure is!
I love this set. One of my three favorites....'57 Topps, '75 Minis & '84 Donruss. Although, I've had a blast with the '72 Topps set and I decided to put that one together because it was my birth year. I sold off my '88 Fleer Basketball set, '88 Fleer Basketball Sticker Set & now selling my Muhammed Ali player set to try and keep these sets going.
Isn't collectin' great?

Brian great p/u as well.
mike I think the reason the 64's are shown also is that brian scanned from ebay and they also show the sellers other cards.
SD
Brian is down to 2 or 3 cards now I think.
then it is upgrade city?
Stingray
You seem to be making good progress on your 84's. A new one every other night.

And just picked this little Canadian gem up over the weekend
As for the previous post on the Joe Louis card: I have no idea on the value just liked the card.
It's probably going to be the last card I'll be getting for a long time. That problem with the tampered PSA 7 Orr rookie has really soured me on this hobby (of which I've only returned to recently).
I really liked the centering on this.

I actually pulled it out and looked at again to see if it had one. Thanks for the heads up.
Scott
I don't know where to begin.
Steve
I know this was a major card for your set and congratulations!
Sting, tkd, Josh, Lamont, Halo, Brian - I enjoyed looking at all your new pickups.
You guys bring so many different items and more importantly give people ideas for new areas to jump in.

Always looking for nice vintage boxing cards

You guys have been getting some really nice cards lately.
Just when I thought I had stagnated on my 63F set, I get this one for 22.50 from BBCEx!
thanx
mike
Is that an actual photo?
Very cool - an Army Team called the Pirates?
thanx for the post
