One of only 5 in the Graded Series, one of 3 graded 9, and one of only 32 in the whole Pen Pals Graded Series graded 9 (no 9.5s). (Please ignore you could likely get the regular version for a couple bucks on eBay...it sounds cooler how I said it).
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
First a Johnny U. rookie I was geeked to have won. I have been lowballing these for months and finally got lucky which was surprising considering the centering on this one was a lot nicer than many. I also got a deal on The Jet to upgrade the PSA 5 that was in my set:
I was very stoked to pick up a Turk Edwards HOFer RC for my beater Chicle set for considerably less than what they usually sell for even with centering issues. I also picked up about a dozen nicely centered 1948 Leafs as additions or upgrades for my ever evolving set:
I am digging the return of vintage football on eBay!

One of the rarest cards in the graded series...and only 9.5.

A few of my highlights for the week starting with a couple singles for my sets including a HOF and a HOF RC:
And a Barry Sanders 1997 Inscriptions auto along with a couple full tickets from the Chicago Enforcers and Ohio Glory of the defunct XFL and WLAF respectively:
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone... and free Rube!
Kick ass stuff guys, especially like the Turk Edwards (I wonder if that's where the BlackHawks got their logo idea from... the '85 hockey and the Donruss Ricky Williams, such a nice card design..
me proud, a pee wee autoed hi # 333 52 costed 485$,shoudl have used the microsoft cashback but i used all 3 of mine instead last week on low $ 52 topps cards i needed to ttm ill know next time- ya dont see pee wee 52 auto everyday though
Nothing the least bit spectacular, but I'm happy to knock them off a list (2 variations):
edit to add...the one on the right is a very generous grade...it's a factory set issue and has the typical blunt corners...I guess PSA overlooks this. The remained of the card is very solid though.
Here are a couple of the highlights from my recent submission. The McCovey will be added to my set. The Rose is a duplicate and will be placed on ebay this Sunday.
Zeeck - I dig that Philly Butkus... do all Philadelphia's have that rough cut edge similar to OPC?
Ladder - that Teddy Ballgame looks very nice for the grade. Are those photos yours or borrowed from the auction? I would like to see a nice scan of that card.
Rube - congrats on the Reese. I thought your 1950 Bowman football autographed set project was tough... but 1952 Topps baseball would be even more amazing.
PoppaJ - American Oil put out some pretty cool cards as premiums back in the day, but that Starr/Mantle card has to be the highlight of them all.
I had a pretty good mail week myself, including on-card autos from two deceased HOF QBs.
The Johnny U. for my 1999 Inscriptions set was one of my Microsoft 30% cash-back buys. The Luckman 1997 Leaf Reproductions sig is the only on-card auto from him I believe and they almost never saw the light of day. Reportedly Sid Luckman passed away before returning these to the manufacturer, but they were discovered by his family as they went through his estate.
Next up an unused AFC Championship ticket from the Ravens victory over the Raiders on route to defeating the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. Notice the name on the ticket... Ripken? The seller I got these from tells me these were ordered by, or for, Cal Ripken Jr. but I have no way to confirm. Given the game was played in Baltimore and that these are premo seats, it certainly seems possible though.
Also pictured below is a Thomas Jones Essential Credentials rookie numbered to only 25 made and yet another upgrade for my 1948 Leaf set.
