Anything is possible in today's age and technology. It's not that collectors are becoming more anal, it's that they are better educated and do not wished to be ripped off at any given moment.
Same here Yawie, a big favorite of mine. In the mid-80s I always saw the card at many shows and just never brought myself to buying it. I was too busy buying up Don Mattingly, Dwight Gooden & Pete Rose stuff. Sheesh....that time machine sure would come in handy.
Although, I did pick up two cards in pretty rough condition from the '57 set..Don Drysdale & Frank Robinson...and had them autograph them back in the mid-80s (Paid $6 for a Frank Robinson autograph and $9 for the Drysdale auto). I have them sitting in one of those two-card screw down holders.

<< <i>Mike What's with "Hammeren"? I've never heard/seen that before. >>
Mark His nickname has been "Hammerin" Hank for as long as I can remember - they spelled it wrong. These are obviously not "genuine" HOF series cards - almost like a 'broder' of sorts. The baseball logo stuck on the card sure gives it a legit feel. I'm just happy if the autos come back OK.
I'll be sending these off to psa.
Knucks Do you know if they have a holder for these - 5x7?
Do you know if they have a holder for these - 5x7?
Mike, not that I know of. Closest thing are the holders that they use for T3's edited to add.. they would probably slab them with the baggy using the T3 holder if you wanted them too.
Throwdown - very nice. A guy sold a run of 49 for around 2500$ - psa/dna but not holdered - if I had the $, I would've tried to grab them - the T3 style is sharp!
Bob Nice Pancho!!! A great looking 6! Super color.
I don't believe they'll be able to holder those autos. I sent them some of the autographed 3 x 5 HOF cards put out by TCMA around 81 or 82 and got them back as being "Unable to be Holdered". Very sweet looking autos you have there.
Thanks everyone for the props on the Perez Steeles. They're pretty cool and most can be found for $40-$60 on ebay. Not bad, considering the grading/slabbing fees cost $35 alone.
OK - I'm probably the only board game collector here:
I picked this one up with an accompanying FB game - the Bkb version got away from me. This is titled:
You're Out! by the Corey Game Company, 1941. The game is about as simple as they come! This one is in incredible shape for something that is 98% cardboard and paper!
Just sit back and think about this....it's the middle of winter and impossible to go outside...so you have mom make you and your best friend Johnny Smith a big bowl of popcorn and a couple of ice cold Yoo Hoos...you both put 10 Topps cards on the board and winner takes all!!!
Nope, Mike. Believe it or not, my wife decorated our son's room with antique game boards! I thought it was a wacky idea at the time, and I think it's a wacky idea now! To each their own . . .
No, the boards with the wooden borders are pretty cool. Artwork is very attractive.
Very, VERY cool!! Who did the artwork on the matted prints? Are they signed and/or numbered? I'm a huge Gopher hockey fan from MPLS area living in hockey-starved suburban DC.
Again, very nice.
I think I already posted this, but what the heck . . . keep the thread going, right?
I had my eye on the Hull and Mikita for a while and the opportunity presented itself so...
Oh yeah, I picked up Jerry's 57 Topps set too.
Hey Mike - That's one obscure BB game. I live just outside Beantown and I've been going to the largest memorabilia shoppe around here for over 20 yrs now. I've never seen that game nor heard of that co. Great pick-up.
Ryan A perfect 6!!! And the Aaron is my favorite card from the 57T set - do not own one but will eventually. The Aaron from the 58T set is also my favorite with Mantle second. Congratulations - as I have said - life begins at 6!
Bob Those Parkies are off the chart! Congrats. I like the Orr card also! Not being an 'iceman' - I really appreciate the posts - gives me a nice appreciation.
Brum Interesting W555 card. You have the best collection of vintage auto and your taste in vintage cards seems to parallel! Thanx.
From time to time, I pick up some stuff that you can abuse and look and say - wow! That's butt ugly! But it is baseball - on the pinball machine - the greenish metalic finish seems to be indicative of the late 40s - early 50s. I have an exhibit machine which looks just like it.
And, I also picked up this bubblegum machine with a baseball theme - pretty cool stuff. I have a bunch of new board games - I will be posting on what I think, for me, is the board game find of year! For only 15 bucks!
This one has been repainted which doesn't make me crazy but to be honest...I would rather have the original paint even if chipped and cracking.
And, lastly, I'm up to 20 sports related whiskey decanters! Ya gotta love this kind of stuff! Now, no remarks on the metal work - this stuff is 50s butt ugly - but it's pure poetry to me! mike

<< <i>yawie,
What is the grade on that? My guess is PSA 4, but maybe a 5?
I turned in 7 T206s for grading this week, so we'll see what comes back. One is an Old Mill that will be a 2 or 1, but I don't have that back yet.
Any other vintage coming your way? >>
Is Old Mill one of the rarer backs?

Awesome Cobb! When I get my act together, I will get a T206 Cobb.
Throwdown--
And those autographed Perez-Steele cards are amazing looking in the holder.
Bob--
I see that card is in the Huggins & Scott Auction catalog for September 28. Lot 60. It is in GAI 3.5.

Great Sabres jersey and I love the Perez Steeles'

1954 Dormand Postcard, the white strip at the top is a sticker on the holder.

Original Ty Cobb photograph from 1910, appears to have been cut from a larger format and was in a scrapbook at one time.
Very nice - I remember you posting that - don't mind looking at it again. I don't do hockey but that was an event for the ages!
Brum
As usual - top flite!!! That's not supposed to be Cobb's auto?
thanx for sharing guys
