I honestly don't think nedsk bought the wax packs and either failed to look to see if the packs were opened or looked at the wax packs and thought they were untampered.
He is, at the very least, using "questionable" business practices. Not responding to e-mails, not communicating to his buyers, and selling that bunk 1975 mini wax box to minimaster makes me certainly think he is using a very SHORT TERM business practice. That is, until he changes user names, buys/sells over 1000 $5 items on e-bay then does it all over again....
Now that people have his physical address, I would move if I were him.
I am quite the maroon, so not yet convinced that this is a complete scam (although a few days ago it seemed certain). It's possible that he bought a large lot and knows nothing about how to judge if packs have been resealed.
Why put up the sets also if you do not have the product. If he has them and produces then what can be done to scam someone?
In noticing that some of his pictures are the same as paoutdoorsman or another seller who made an appearance then vanished after paoutdoorsman, I sent him a message. Asked about the pics.
His reply -
"I've taken my own pictures for items so I'm unsure of what you are referencing, sorry."
Bottom line is that if he is legit, he offers a full refund with an apology to mini. Considering the $$$$ of all auctions involved, that would be in his best interests. If . . . he is legit.
Hello! I was alerted to this thread from a customer, since I have been asked numerous times if I have ever dealt with this seller. I have not dealt with this person, nor have I heard of his name. But I see that someone has been taken due to a bad 1975 Topps baseball mini box.
If anyone receives any items from this seller and has bad product(or unsure of the product), we would be willing to authenticate the item for you at no charge. We will type up on letterhead if we feel the product is no good. I will even return the item to you and pay the shipping on my dime. I get asked to do this alot for paypal disputes and ebay disputes(and also for legal disputes).
Since I understand alot of my regular customers frequent these boards, I dont want to see anyone get taken from this seller. Any help I can offer, please contact me.
Thanks! Steve Hart Baseball Card Exchange 800-598-8656
Keith The booklet that the BBCKid made is just OK IMO - not a lot of info - here is the page where he references how to detect bad packs. I think something better could be written on the topic.
It really is a shame what some will do to make a buck.
Some board members have asked about vending boxes in the past. The common theory is to look for the smooth but wavy pattern on the top of the cards, which is hard to duplicate by hand. There is a machine commonly used in the printing/bindery business that will vibrate that box and make it look like is just left the factory, because this is most likely what they use. The machines are relatively inexpensive.
The back of that pack does not look good in the scan - it's not tight at all and the wrinkling in the lower half of the wrapper looks like what happens when one open the pack - just an observation.
Compare it with this 76 pack - much tighter and the wrapper is more clean. It could be legit but....?
Has anyone stalked the coin boards to hear what they are saying? I can't believe people are stilling bidding on his unopened material. Nice cut case, hummm paoutdoorsman. This guy is full of himself, "email with any valid questions" Come on, what is a valid question? No dumb question!!
<< <i>but if you want to be an a$$ hole then so be it. >>
Pack Was this for me? If so...why the hostility? We are having a discussion and it's obvious the saavy collector would not bid - my point was that some new unsuspecting, inexperienced (perhaps), person got nailed. Perhaps this person has "plans" for the pack - and again someone with no experience may be turned off to collecting by this guy.
Bottom line, I do not come here to create tension and resent your accusation.
Wow i have never seen anyone attack Stone before. Mike is one of the good guy's here. No one could be more helpful or play the moderater as well or with such class.
I think pack should rethink his A$$hole statement.
I emailed the guy who won the 58 pack, and as it turns out it's Ryan from Wax from the Past, one of the more prominent dealers of unopened material. What he told me was that he won a 58 FB pack that was actually legit, but had a strong feeling that the baseball pack he bid on was a reseal. I think his intention was to buy the pack and get him kicked off ebay if it was indeed fake. He told me he'll be joining the boards soon so I'm sure you will get his side, but it's a pretty cool thing to take a bullet in order to get the guy from listing fake stuff.
<<< "no one" spent 600 bucks on that pack which is still a lot of money to throw away >>>
That's a lot of money to spend on a few "probable" EXMT commons. Even if they graded PSA 7, which is "probably" unlikely, that's still a lot of money. Really a shame. Seems as though he is shipping the merchandise but still a scam, at least on some items for sure.
Way to be with the email. I remember when you first joined, with that username I figured you as the next in the long line of trolls we seem to get. You're ok in my book.
And for "some one" with 1000+ posts to call Mike out like that, tsk tsk. You should know better. I would expect the PSA repo dept. to be visiting your collection soon.
I haven't read this thread in a few days but damn! Those of you who smelled scam from post 1, good for you.
Shocked to see Steve Hart on the board and even more shocked he went with Sponge Bob.
And in my short time here, I have learned that Stone seems to be one of the good guys, so shame on you for your attack and your cuss. And tell your cousin Nedsk to stop scamming people.
Does anyone else agree that e-bay should not allow the re-sale of wrappers. What is that! There is only one thing that can be done with them. And people who say that collectors like to have them for the sake of collecting should realize that collecting would be better off without them! I throw out my wrappers every time, those 86 Topps Baseball wrappers could fall into the WRONG hands.
Who is the ebay user, cocolao-1? He just bought an 80/81 Topps box from him and left positive feedback (he looks like a very prolific buyer of unopened boxes, check his feedback).

There are people out there who are legit collectors of this stuff, and that wouldn't be fair to them. I couldn't afford a 1950's pack, but I could a wrapper.
I wonder what the % of these sold are used in scams?
Does anyone remember this picture? We talked about it in a paoutdoorsman2004 thread or the one that came a month later. I recall someone mentioning how many cases of racks would have to be opened to find 20 with McGwire on top. Of course this picture is in a "nedsk" auction. Why fold back all of the top flaps on the racks?
We also discussed some minor league Soriano cards and that the seller apparently had a large percentage of all the cards printed.
Also, I have been able to find a post mentioning that paoutdoorsman2004 or the next one had a mailing address in Lemoyne, PA. How far is this from Carlisle?
'85 Topps rack packs had a Glossy All-Star (one of the set of 22) on the top in the section nearest the label/hanger. I'm not seeing that in any of his "unopened packs".

It's not my intention to create or engage in pissing contests. So, I'll just say, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable and leave it at...whatever.

I am not an expert on packs. Guess I should by the BBCKid book.
