The prediction for the Eagles Monday night game is... well who cares because the Eagles already have clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs so the game is meaningless. Play the Eagles cheerleaders for all I care. Even the Eagles cheerleaders could beat most of the other NFC teams.
I'm not 100% sure how Andy Reid is going to handle the Eagles on Monday night. Andy Reid better not mess this up and play the starters too much during these next two weeks. I would only play McNabb a quarter in each game and maybe not even play Westbrook at all. You know...tell the trainer to "find something wrong" with Westbrook that "forces" him to sit out for the next two games. It is arguable that Westbrook is actually more important to the team than TO - that may very well be true. But I expect Reid will play the starters for a half in each game and for a few series in the 3rd quarter - which would be too much.
Ah yes...so there's NFL playoff football this weekend. It'll be fun watching which NFC team gets to be the one in which the Eagles will feast on the following week!
First everyone said the Vikes couldn't win because they were losing big games. Now they can't win because they won a big game??
You're right about the beat up though. Looks like Moss has no chance of being 100% for Philly. Chavous is out, Dixon hobbled. The Vikings are much easier to defend when Moss isn't healthy. Even when he's not making a lot of catches defenses are scared to death of him and that opens up a lot of other things for the Vikings.
One might think the loss of Owens could have the same effect on Philly. I tend to agree with that logic. We don't know because Philly has tanked the last two to protect their starters. No question they have the advantage of rest, health, home field, and a better Defense, although the Vikings D have showed at times they can be quite effective particularlly when thay have a lead. They have some playmakers with Kevin Williams and Antoine Winfield.
With Moss hobbled, things look dim for the Vikes. If Moss can get healthy, Minny could take advantage of the Eagles rustiness and jump out to a quick lead. If that happens, the Eagles could be crying in their Campbells Sunday night.

This "rustiness" angle has been way overplayed. Rustiness occurs when coming back off a long layoff from an injury, or between seasons coming into training camp. The Eagles have been practicing full throttle these past few weeks. Plus they have been playing and practicing for well over twenty weeks including the preseason. Rust isn't going to develop at this time of the season from just a few weeks off. Andy Reid made the right move resting the starters and it's gonna payoff bigtime with a huge win against the Vikings.
It is understandable what everyone is saying about TO being out and the Eagles being affected - and of course this does affect them. But even more important this season is the fact that Brian Westbrook is completely healthy going into these playoffs, whereby last season he was hurt. As valuable as TO is to the Eagles, I believe that Westbrook is actually more valuable. Westbrook is not a "household name" right now. After this season though when the Eagles win the Super Bowl, he will be a household name.
<< This is not a good analogy. The Eagles played their 2nd and 3rd string in those two games for most of the game against the other team's first string. >>
Do you think you guys are the only team ever to clinch early then rest players late in the year ?
Like i said, no team has ever lost the last 2 games of the regular season and won a Super bowl that year
Eagles win bc they will outcoach Tice. Then falcons fly to the superbowl. Vick vs mcnabb will be one he$$ of a championship game. and vick will pull it out bc falcons have more weapons then eagles with owens out.
<< <i>This "rustiness" angle has been way overplayed. >>
I agree with Reids decision as well. But if you think it doesn't come with a price your wrong. Practice is just not the same as live game action. The hitting is different, the timing is different, the passion is not there. It will be 4 weeks since the starters played in a game together. Plus how will they respond to the absence of TO? Nobody knows yet. But I'll guarantee you, their offense will be much easier to defend.
If Moss is healthy, look out.

It's funny but i look at 1420's last post and it made me think back to when the Cowboys were in the big playoff games ( boy it seems like a longgg time ago lol ) and for some reason i thought the worse and always thought whoever they were playing that particular week would give them trouble and my Boys would lose. Which as we know rarely happened in the glory years . Anyways i noticed you Philly guys take the opposite approach when talking about how you feel prior to the games. I think i just approached it that way so i wouldn't get my hopes crushed

I do not buy into all that stuff anyway. This is coming down to Tice and Reid.... >>
and the loser has to wear tights on the sidelines next season.
Prediction: TO will return early and play in the Champ game.
Eagles - 31 Vikings - 24
Moss will get laid out in the 2nd quarter, soil his undies, and vow to never again mock opposing fans.
Flying to Philly tonight to join in the pre-game festivities and get ready for game time.
Anyone know if the Vikes are staying at the Loew's in Center City? Visiting teams usually are there right? I stayed there last year and as luck would have it the Panthers checked in the next day.... a nice hotel so I'm there again this year.
Philadelphia is going to whoop Vick and the Falcons. Vick is possibly the most overrated player in the game, and Jim Johnson will figure out a way to contain him.
Eagles 27
Falcons 13
I cannot see the Steelers beating NE, even at home. Dillon will set up the pass and both defenses are evenly matched. Brady and Belicheck are the difference.
thanks i needed that laugh. this is his 2nd year as a starter, last year he was out. his first year they made 2nd round of playoffs. now this year they going to the superbowl. Falcons 24 eagles 13 4 in a row

This thread has turned quieter than a Tampa Bay Buccaneers home crowd in most of their recent games.
It will be loud again. The playoffs are here. Stalin wants the Eagles to win, as he secretly bleeds green.
Everyone else stinks.
I'm rooting for them to win it all.
I would love to see TO's face if he
sees his team get a ring and he didn't
have anything to do with it.
I picked Indy and Atlanta a long time ago,
but would love to see the Eagles win it now
that big mouth is out.
Still have tickets to sell for the Divisional and Champ game. E-mail to kdenning128@comcast.net for details.
Flying up on Tuesday to spend time enjoying a few days in the City of Brotherly Love before game time.
Staying at the Loew's Center City, where the visiting team may also stay as the Panthers did last year.

See you guys in Philly this week!

That may seem like a large spread but it's only a touchdown per quarter - LOL.
Go Eagles!!!!!
But without TO I see that number in the mid to high 20's.
The Vikes offense looked great against a poor GB defense.
They will not have it that easy against the Eagles.
Eagles 27 Vikings 21
Westbrook gives the Eagles great flexibility in their o-scheme.
He usually can run the slant and swing quite effectively if the
linebackers and safeties are biting on the deep ball patterns.
If the Eagles can not complete the 20 yard+ passes on Sunday,
then Westbrook becomes less effective because the linebackers
and safeties will cheat.
The Eagles MUST develop the deep ball early in the game to
keep the Vikes secondary guessing.
Having said that, the Vikes defense stinks anyway, so I don't
see it being a problem.
