I can't believe I finally opened this thread! I read the first 2 pages and skimmed the rest.

Anyway, proof57, I'd buy the Jeff at triple your cost if it makes PCGS 68 Cam.

I'd also bet you a buck it won't cross at that grade or higher. Sorry, I'm not a high roller, I never bet a meaningful amount of dough...

As to pulling auctions, well you did. I wouldn't. Look, markets go two ways. If the market is too cheap (in your opinion) you should be a buyer, not a complainer.

I read some of this thread, but couldn't stand to read it all. I just wish EVERY auction was a TRUE auction .... no minimum start, no reserve, no cancellation. If you put something up for sale it should sell at whatever price it ends up. If you don't want to take ANY risk then don't put it up for auction.

Someone probably already said this somewhere in the previous 18 pages, but the bottom line is too many people "want to have it both ways". If you put it up for auction, then SELL IT.

The other day Proof stated he had some coins up for auction on Ebay. I went and looked and put in a low bid just so I could remember and follow the auction. Imagine my suprise that I was high bidder with just minutes to go. All of the sudden wham bam auction cancelled. Is my world going to end since I didn't win the coins? No but I look at Ebay as a true auction. When I bid it says that my bid is a binding contract. If the seller sets no minimum bid and no reserve why then are they not bound by the auction? If the seller doesn't want to take the chance of low bids winning, then set a reserve or minimum bid. I would be willing to bet if the bid was high enough and I won then said " I decided I don't want to pay this much" the seller would scream bloody murder and leave negative feedback. Guess it all comes down to personel integrity or the lack of.
