Whose in for the gold? I'm in for one.
I'm assuming they won't be available at Baltimore since their is a hh limit?
Bad assumption. I'm 1,000,000% sure the reason they picked 11/14, a Thursday, for the release, was specifically to coincide with Baltimore. They have released many, many items at shows with HHLs. Don't you remember the fiasco in Chicago with the gold Kennedys?
In this case, you'll be able to buy one at the show, and another one online if you want. I also REALLY don't think it will sell out. Immediately, if at all.
17.5K is 50% more than the American Liberty coins that took over a week to sell out, and the price is many hundreds of dollars more than they were 1 and 3 years ago. A $1,000 premium to $2,700 gold is going to be too steep for many.
With little apparent upside, and no lottery ticket kicker, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to be in for as many as you want at 12:01 p.m. on 11/15. People jazzed due to the what happened with the silver medals are going to learn the hard way that the only difference between the two is not coin vs. medal.
It's also going to be $1,000 premium to a $2,700 intrinsic value vs. a $62 premium to a $32 intrinsic value, as well as a lottery ticket with a 2.4% chance at a ~40x+ score vs. nothing other than the coin.
I do see them listed for pre-sale on eBay at optimistic prices, but I don't see any completed sales yet. Impossible to know whether bids for them are shills, or why anyone would chase them at a premium to already significant Mint premiums unless and until they actually sell out at the Mint.

Well i'll test the theory.
I have an order of 75 medals headed my way - already shipped. They broke the order into 50 and 25 count UPS deliveries.
We dont know if they were in 100 count boxes or not. Maybe 50.
No, we do know. Someone already asked.
They are in the standard 100 count boxes that similar one ounce silver coins packed in clam shells have been packed in in the past. Congratulations on getting a 75 count order in. But, why are they breaking it up? I've never heard of that in the past.
And, how did you manage it, given everyone else's difficulty getting anything at all to go through before it went unavailable? Statistically, you have an excellent chance of getting 1 or 2, unless they are intentionally effing you by breaking up the order, and already cherry picked the privys out.
People often break up their own orders, for one reason or another. But, it's always easier for the fulfillment center to ship one package rather than multiples, so I've never heard of them arbitrarily, unilaterally breaking up multiples of the same product. Very fishy.
In fact, in the past people have reported ordering 99 of similar items (the online order limit), and receiving a resealed box of 100 with one coin removed. There is definitely something wrong with them splitting up your order if you did not ask them to. Please let us know how you make out.
I've had orders for other products shipped in two parts in the past; once 99 shipped 50 and 49. Two tracking numbers. I also had another order of 99 ship in a production facility box ripped open and one taken out - thrown in a big outer mailing box. That shipment was very awkward in size and the outer mailing box was beat up and almost ripped by the inner box shifting around.
I dont know if they are shipping that way due to certain size boxes being available or maybe insurance requirements; but this time they broke the order of 75 up with two tracking numbers coming by UPS (50 and 25).
I'll report back how it worked out (Privy or Not).
I was also lucky in getting the 2020-W v75 GOLD a couple of years ago.

I remember trying for that one....now that was very very difficult to get...I wasn't able to.
Love to hear the rest of the story on the 75 medal order...how they were packaged (this bubble wrap packaging is so different for the mint) and your final score...hoping you get the 2.4% chance of privies and not a complete washout.
( wouldn't the percentage be equal throughout the entire sale...a real lottery mix)
I am not happy with the bubble envelope instead of the box. Fortunately mine arrived undamaged but there will be many customers who won't be so lucky.
Upon receipt I was compelled to open the envelope to confirm there was no damage so that took away my option of submission in a sealed package to PCGS.🙄
Since I bought this as a lottery ticket experience I am waiting to open the medal to see if it's a privy. I feel part of my luck has been used up just by getting an undamaged package!🤣😂

Yes, the percentage certainly should be equal throughout the entire sale. At least until returns start being recycled.
The thing though is, with a sealed box directly from the Mint, the people at the fulfillment center have no opportunity to mess around. Not so much where they are breaking up a box to fill two other boxes.
@coiner -- 75 seems like an odd number. Why didn't you just go for the 99, as you did the other times?

I wonder if the gold one ships in a plastic bag.....
No reason it won't, if this is what they now moved to. The only difference will be that they will require a signature, due to the value. Hopefully that will prevent damage, such as what people have been posting, from envelopes being stuffed into mailboxes.

Just realized that I'll be on travel on the 14th. Sucks. I live close to Balto and would have bought one there.
I have zero expectation of any appreciation on the gold. Depending on melt, it could well be worth less than issue. I just really like the design and theme. The silver is my first medal. The gold will be my second and very possibly last. Its hard to stomach the high premium to melt.
I wonder if there will every be anything like the V75 AGE again. I'm so grateful that I got one. It came back 70. I'll never sell it. It's one of my favorite coins. It was definitely extremely hard to get. Like most who got one, I worked hard at it trying for many days. Got mine this morning! No privy, but I love it. Such a silly eagle.
One thing to note: there's NO SEAL to defeat. The box is slider friction type, so beware anyone offering an "unopened" or "sealed" unit.
Unboxing photos:
Unopened refers to the shipping envelope or box not the slipcover.
Aha! Now we've got your fingerprints.
Nice medal. I almost wish I'd gotten one. I've certainly spent that much on mint products that were less impressive. And I've realized that I like the look of uncirculated modern silver, probably more than proofs.

The rim on mine has obvious tool marks (trying to be authentic to the period?) and wide finning almost throughout. The pics suck but these tool marks show up well to the naked eye.

Just received this email from the Mint:
Order Update:
Out for Delivery
Great news! Items from your recent order are out for delivery and will be arriving soon. Please be aware, the United States Mint uses standard-size nondescript boxes for all shipments. We will update you when your package is due to arrive.
Looks like someone at the Mint missed the memo that they are now shipping in white bubble envelopes!🤣😂

To me the V75 gold are more special. It's such a popular series. It's a coin. The V75 theme is great. The very low mintage is huge. While the magnitude of the value over issue is of course not nearly that of the silver privy the dollar value over issue is far more substantial.
Totally agree re gold when the original was silver. Bummer that the silver is not a silver dollar as others have said.
as for the GOLD V75 - I got one during the initial day of ordering.....have no idea why my order went thru but I do rely on my account with PAYPAL linked - saves a step on verifying billing address and entering CVV.
I do have a family member who actually got 2 GOLD V75's Eagles, both after the initial day of sales, the last one being on a Sat or Sun morning in late November when a few came up and he got another one.
As for this sale - we havent been seeing many available each morning since the sale (730AM EST sales) - only a handful. My experience has been that probably about a week after HHL release there will be one day where there will be a bunch released, afterwhich they will come in dribs and drabs until official sellout is posted.

You're absolutely right in everything you say about the V75. The biggest thing being that we all knew what it was, which was what made getting one so special.
Here, no one really had to work for one. Dealers got them by virtue of being allowed to bulk purchase, and the rest of us just had to buy a medal and then have a 2.4% chance to get lucky. Nothing more than a giveaway to dealers, with a few scraps being thrown our way to give the enterprise an air of legitimacy.
That said, it's a modern tribute to a classic design, just like the V75. With a mintage of 1794, as compared to 1945 for the V75. Which makes it the closest comparable, and, really, the closest thing we are ever going to see to the V75.
Going forward, the Mint is not going to make dealers compete with the common folk for prizes like this. This is the new way to distribute them, as opposed to giving them their own Mint catalog Item # and having us fight over them.
They will be prizes seeded into a related offering, with dealers getting the lion's share of the rewards, rather than everyone competing on an equal basis.

Okay. But, if 99 was going to be canceled, why wouldn't 75? Not to mention the extra step it took to reduce 99 to 75 before ordering.
Makes no sense to me, but, you got an order for quantity in when most did not, so you must be doing something right. I wish you nothing but the best of luck.
Again, please let us know how you did. You should get 1-2, but I won't be shocked, under these circumstances, if you get 0.

Im not getting my hopes up - I know how this deal works. But i've committed the open boxes at a nice profit.
I'll report back Wednesday - as long as UPS shows up timely.
I’m thinking now that we went 2 days in a row with nothing available, the next availability will be a wave of returns if and when that starts happening.

Maybe but it could just be Sunday/Monday no inventory updates since Mint is closed on weekends.

There will not be returns one poster called for. Why return when can be sold for $150-$200

One or two, sure. But when (if?) people starting trying to dump what they don't want onto the market in quantity, those $150-200 bids will instantly disappear. That's why.
What? I thought I read this medal was suppose to be a disaster, with prices crashing and thousands of returns? The privy gimmick would backfire on the mint.

You also called for prices in $70’s. You may feel that by plastering your opinion all over makes yourself an expert, however have been consistently wrong.

Didn't see it flip this morning.

I wonder if the gold one ships in a plastic bag.....
I will post my result soon!🤞
My has a notably finned rim. Otherwise appears flawless. Overall aesthetics of the piece are excellent. Getting one in your hands feels good. Enjoy!
No reason it won't, if this is what they now moved to. The only difference will be that they will require a signature, due to the value. Hopefully that will prevent damage, such as what people have been posting, from envelopes being stuffed into mailboxes.
You seem to always offer your opinions on what other members choose to buy. Not sure why you are so obsessed with posting but answer this one question please.
Did you buy one of these medals? Asking for a friend!😂🤣
Unopened refers to the shipping envelope or box not the slipcover.
Thanks for the thoughts on the gold.
It's, by far, my best numismatic score. It would be interested to see how that would have played out w/the current waiting room system.
It was definitely extremely hard to get. Like most who got one, I worked hard at it trying for many days. I still have coin PTSD from missing the ONE day that it was easy - the Sunday after Thanksgiving when the remaining ones were sold. I tried every day for so long for a second - except that ONE day. I'll never get over it.
Aha! Now we've got your fingerprints.
Nice medal. I almost wish I'd gotten one. I've certainly spent that much on mint products that were less impressive. And I've realized that I like the look of uncirculated modern silver, probably more than proofs.
And you seem to always be aware of what I am up to, even though you also feel compelled to announce to anyone who will listen that your life has become immeasurably better since you put me on Ignore.
Not sure why you are so obsessed with me, what I buy, what I post, etc. If I want you to know what I am buying, I'll be sure to let you know. For now, I'm just waiting with baited breath to learn whether or not you received a privy. The anticipation is absolutely scintillating. 😂🤣
Needless to say, I AM thrilled that you are back to hanging on my every word. And to trying to control what I post.
Why not just tell our hosts that you would like to serve as an unpaid moderator? Or, even better, start your own forum, and then have total control over who posts what.
The gold is going to be a coin, not a medal. The privy medals ARE the V75 AGE again!!! At a far greater percentage premium to issue price, due to the lower starting and intrinsic value.
Except this time around, dealers received guaranteed allocations through the bulk purchase program, so didn't have to fight with the rest of us on the crashing website. And then, while the waiting room brought order to the process for us, we only had a 2.4% of actually receiving one.
I agree about the high premium to melt. The Mint is just getting a little greedy here. Not so much with the premium, since the market has clearly shown it will support it if the mintage is low enough, and Mint is simply trying to capture more of it for itself rather than letting us have it.
The Mint knows these will be popular, so they bumped the mintage up by around 50% above that of the American Liberty High Relief coins. That, combined with gold being up around 30% from last year, should sufficiently dampen demand to prevent a sell out. We'll see.
For me, the buzz kills are not only the premium and the mintage, but also the fact that the original coin was silver, not gold. That just makes this a less compelling offering to me, even though it's a coin and the silver is a medal. YMMV.
So now we all know that means you didn't buy one and you just like to post your opinions even when you have no skin in the game.🙄
Yes. "We all know," because you say so, even though I have intentionally not answered you one way or the other. And, I'm not going to allow myself to be bullied into doing so. You can think whatever you want, because, unlike you with me, I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY do not care what you think, or what you think you know. 😂🤣
That said, yes, I LOVE posting my opinions on selected topics, such as moderns like this, whether or not I have skin in the game. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste my time, on an unpaid basis, doing so.
My opinions, like yours and everyone else's, are worth exactly what people pay for them. Everyone, including you, is entitled to place whatever value on mine they feel is appropriate.
I expect nothing else, share for those who are interested, and am not the least bit insulted if anyone chooses to Ignore.
Thanks for clarifying!
The rim on mine has obvious tool marks (trying to be authentic to the period?) and wide finning almost throughout. The pics suck but these tool marks show up well to the naked eye.
Thank you.
My pleasure!!! 😀
Great photos ! Thanks for sharing
Thx.
Didn't realize the gold was a coin. Oops.
I've had times in the past where orders for 99 were cancelled. No reason given. I went for a number slightly less.
as for the GOLD V75 - I got one during the initial day of ordering.....have no idea why my order went thru but I do rely on my account with PAYPAL linked - saves a step on verifying billing address and entering CVV.
Here’s the standard COA for anyone interested!
That isn’t even a good cut and paste job. Mint site says no privy mark.
In addition, whoever did the editing should have changed the word from medals to coins..
Why? You know you are going to get some people all worked up!!!
Okay. But, if 99 was going to be canceled, why wouldn't 75? Not to mention the extra step it took to reduce 99 to 75 before ordering.

I do not value your opinion.
I got one! It came in on Friday. Was not expecting to get lucky.
214, 215, 216, 218 and 219. LCR did pretty good. COA #'s consecutive. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Wow!!!!!
Congrats!!!
Did u only order one?
Excuse me but I think you got mine by mistake 🤪
