I'm a 30+ year card collector, mostly baseball. But I sold off most of my vintage (save a 52T Mantle, 48 Leaf Robinson, and a few autographed ones) a few years ago and started collecting WNBA. It was cheap and FUN to collect. There were only 500 of each base set printed from 2012-2018. THAT'S IT. That means 500 Breanna Stewart rookies, 500 A'ja Wilson rookies, etc. And before that, there were even fewer (only 225 Maya Moore RCs). Since Panini entered the game in 2020, it's now gotten quite expensive to collect. But as I was in early, it's been nice when I've sold off a few things at 1000-2000% profit. With baseball I was always a "buy high, sell low" guy, so this has been a welcome change!
Caitlin Clark is/will be the Michael Jordan of the WNBA.
Don't think her cards will do as well, but I like them.
Bought about 15-20 various ones for my grandson

The other three choices is the NFL game between San Francisco @ Seattle and two great MLB playoff games. Such a hard decision. I'm sure most dudes will skip the NFL and MLB playoffs games to watch the WNBA game. After all where are you going to find a better brand of basketball.
Bro, I can watch ALL FOUR GAMES AT ONCE! Get over yourself. Please.
Only four at once, yikes, college football keeps me way busier! lol

Jokes putting down women's athletics are so in right now. Nice job.
Making factual comments about the quality of the product is not putting down women's athletes. The reason you are seeing more of what you claim is because there are ample people trying to compare the WNBA and Clark to the NBA and Jordan when the sport was not popular. Comparing the two is asinine for the many reasons already discussed. There's no comparison. There's not one woman in the WNBA that could make a Division one's men's hoops team - not one.
I played Division one soccer when I was 19 years old. We had less than 100 people watching our games which clearly indicated that very few people cared about college soccer back in the early 80's. Someone pointing that out is not putting down the sport. That person would be stating a fact and facts should never bother anyone.
Heck, we had more people than that attending my daughter's soccer games at the local Parks and Rec. She was 8 years old at the time. Women's athletics is alive and well.

I have three daughters and loved watching them play soccer when they were kids. Nobody is disputing that. The discussion is about comparing the WNBA and Clark to the NBA which is asinine. A women's pro sports league will NEVER show a profit in my lifetime for the many reasons mentioned before. That does not mean I'm making fun of women's sports. My comments are based on facts and common sense.
There's not one woman in the WNBA that could make a Division one's men's hoops team - not one.
I don't understand this fascination with comparing a women's sport to a men's sport and then trash talking it. Just appreciate it for what it is.
.
I don't understand this fascination with comparing the WNBA and Clark to the NBA and Jordan. Why not just say you like the WNBA. Why compare it to a league that's 100X better? An individual can like whatever they want. I used to love watching the Roller Derby.
DUDE, you are the one doing the comparing! Didn't you read my post that you quoted? I love the WNBA, and rarely watch the NBA. They are two different things. I don't need to compare them. Jordan is a legend, Clark - while talented - is a rookie. There is zero comparison!
She brought a lot of eyes to the league, and for that I am grateful. Period.
I dont think some of the original points that were being made are being absorbed. To say Caitlin Clark is or could the Jordan of the NBA is not saying the WNBA is as successful as the NBA. Or will be. Or will come close. Its not saying that the WNBA will ever be profitable. Or that they will make up for low ticket sales with expensive beer, concessions and apparel. Its not saying that Caitlin could play in the NBA. Its not saying she would win a game of 1 on 1 with Jordan in his prime. You could say she will the Gretzky or the Brady or Ohtani of the WNBA but she does not have to throw for 80,000 yards or get a lot of goals and assists or strike out batters and hit HRs. Just be the best in her space.
Jordan is considered by many to be the best NBA player. The point being made was Caitlin may be the best WNBA player at some point. Even if you think the WNBA smells like a rancid dumpster. Or the arc of the shot is funny. Or the women use the backboard too much. Or believe it will fold. Or believe any woman in a uniform will not cause a business to generate profit. I think its a reasonable case being made that she could be the greatest WNBA player in time.

Which is as important as the greatest professional lacrosse player of all time. Yes if you compare her to other minor sports that most people don't care about you might be correct. Comparing her or the league to the NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL, Men's college hoops, and college football would be asinine. They are night and day. Once again she's not even in the top 100000 basketball players of all time. I have a buddy who would easily beat her in a one on one and he barely sniffed division one when he was in college.

I never said they are nobody's. Every person likes different things and that's great. I said very few sports fans watch or care about the league and the ratings and two decades of losing millions every year backs up my opinion. For anyone on the fence ask yourself this question: Would you rather your local WNBA team win the title for the next 5 years. Actually make that 50 consecutive years or would you rather have your favorite baseball or football team win the World Series or Super Bowl next season. There's no comparison. Winning the WNBA title is similar in interest to who wins the Lacrosse championship or a division one volleyball title. It only matters to a very small amount of sport fans.
Other forms: bloviating; bloviated; bloviates
To bloviate is to talk, but not just to chat. To bloviate means to go on and on and on and on, usually in a pompous way.
Can you hear the blow in the word bloviate? That's a clue that someone bloviating is blowing some serious hot air. When someone bloviates, he is speaking in an empty, pretentious, full-of-himself manner. This word is often associated with politicians, who probably invented bloviating. When someone is talking a lot and saying a little, they're bloviating.

100% agree that you keep doing this. Now that you admit you have a problem your behavior might change.
Well, now that Shaq has objectified Angel Reese in almost every way possible, I guess I must believe that WNBA fandom is for men who want to watch hot women in tiny shorts throwing down dunks. That's it.
