Washington lost every one. They lost every good player, and basically their entire coaching staff. They are TCU 2.0 and wont be good. Michigan at least kept a couple stud defensive players but they wont be finishing in the top 10 either. t would be unprecedented for the defending national champion to not start in the top 10

Save the complaining for blaming the refs when theyre losing during the season not some meaningless preseason writers poll.

Only reason Washington isnt ranked is because they dont have sec next to their name. There have been sec teams that lost 14 plus starters but yet they were all ranked in the next pre season poll.

Youre right there is an SEC bias but its an anti one that you have. You celebrated Michigan beating Alabama and youre an OSU superfan. Guaranteed Auburn and Georgia fans were cheering that Bama loss. You seem to view things as conferences.

If you want to replace Iowa at 25 with Washington go ahead it doesnt matter but Iowa is the team getting removed if any team is added.

Will Rodgers is the QB for Washington he was good under Leach and terrible last year. Last year was the first time Rodgers took snaps under center in years including high school and he struggled a lot having to turn his back on the defense to throw. Fisch doesnt run an air raid offense and it says a lot that his Star QB and stud WR decided to stay at Arizona instead of follow him to Washington

You know darn well high recruitment rankings dont mean everything. Look at Auburn and Texas A@M. High rankings, little results. Washington finished 14-1 without top rankings and they made the playoffs twice. They deserve respect. It's a great football school.

Besides losing absolutely everyone, Washington also upgraded conferences. I dunno if I'd have them unranked but they're going to struggle.

And, yes, Michigan has a new coaching staff but the head coach DID coach last year, including beating Ohio. But, as I've said before, I expect Michigan to struggle some, too.

I said I expect Michigan to struggle and Washington is positioned worse than Michigan so, yeah, I expect them to struggle.

Aurbans and Washingtons recruiting have been very similar which is why they fired their coach for a new one. Getting dominated in the 2016 playoffs which Washington did doesnt change anything. Auburn won the title in 2010 if we want to keep going back.

Washington is not a great football school, its a good school sometimes. They had 2 good years under Deboer who is gone and they were 4-8 before him, if you want to go back to the Petersen days they lost every big bowl game under him, if you want to go back to 2009 and before making a bowl game was considered success. Theres nothing great about the program other than it improved recently and had to beg to be let into the B!G agreeing to take less than a full media share several years

During the 4 team playoff era, how many teams made the playoffs at least twice? Very very few. Washington also has went to 14 Rose bowl games and has a winning record in that bowl game. Its a great football school. Maybe not Alabama or Ohio State great, but its darn good.

Florida State vs Georgia Tech in Ireland this Saturday

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭✭✭

FSU has a ton to replace. I dont really believe in DJ as an elite QB and think Clemson takes over the ACC again even though they should lose week one to Georgia. NC State could sneaky be in the mix with Duke and UNC expected to take step backs as well

Even with the whole Ireland thing not a great start. GT is a middle of the road ACC team so its not a terrible loss but it hurts it was a conference loss. FSU lost a ton from last year and DJ is a big step down from Travis. I dont have them making the playoffs unless they somehow win the ACC. Clemson should catch a loss from Georgia next week but that doesnt help FSU in terms of conference standings

GT had 3 bad years from 2019 to 2021. They generally make bowl games and are an average ACC team which they are this year. If you ranked only the ACC teams theyre in the 7-10 range talent wise.

FSU was overrated at 10. Their WRs are worse, their defense is worse, they had a huge downgrade at QB from Travis to DJ. There were multiple passes in that game that would have been TDs if DJ could have thrown it accurately. Its an upset but not really a surprise

Hopefully North Dakota State beats Colorado tomorrow (which they could) so we can get the Colorado media hype out of the way

Boston College FSU being the Monday night game is a joke. FSU isnt that good and BC is worse. Clemson Georgia and PSU WVU are both noon games and thats the Monday night game?

Its a little surprising the Georgia game is at noon. Should've been either in the 330 or night slot.

I'm guessing it has sometime to do with the game being played in the Falcons stadium. Ideally since theyre doing the Sunday and Monday night games that would have been one of them. That FSU BC game no one will really care about should have been one of the noon games. Could have had an interesting game in the three time slots for Saturday and then a interesting Sunday and Monday games too

I'm going to be the biggest Bison fan if they win tonight lol. Im over Colorado being the focal point of college football when they will be likely fighting for a bowl game. It got so old quickly last year when Colorado games were getting premier time slots over much better games. At the very least at least Nebraska should beat them next week

I wonder if the Buffaloes (excluding Ralphie, who reigns at Folsom Field in Boulder and to my knowledge is unstoppable
and undefeated when running the football field) will get Buffaloed by the Bison. :)

If so, that would be some Prime Time drama for CU and Coach Neon (aka Prime Time) Deion Sanders.

The obvious push off by Hunter was one of the worst non-calls ever.

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭✭✭

I believe the the betting line was 10.5 points. If the NDSU QB had a better arm that hail mary at the end would have been a win instead of being caught on the 2 yard line. NDSU did kind of give that game away with a few mistakes as well.

Colorado looks basically the same as least year. Hunter is a stud that better teams will be able to gas him out defensively but their lines are still bad.

I know scouts love Sheduer but I cant really figure out if hes actually really good of if having Hunter is making him that good.

Florida isnt currently a power in football. Mertz isnt very good and Napier should have never been hired. Florida probably misses a bowl game with their absurd schedule. Thats probably the best outcome for them where they can fire a bad coach

College football is better when Miami is good
