I do like the new Panthers mascot. I think it may help them moving forward.

There ya went and did it. You backed me into a corner whereby I am forced to issue a challenge of an avatar bet.

The loser of the November 5th game has to use the avatar of the winner's choice, until kickoff time of the next game the losing team plays, usually around one week.

Let me know if you accept, and I'll have my attorneys contact your attorneys with the paperwork.

But of course I accept, I love a good avatar bet. Seeing as how Dimeman isn't around to defend the Cowboys honor, I'm afraid I'm going to have to step up to plate for him, and I'll be sure to put a lot of thought into your new avatar when the Cowboys clean house in Philly this November!

Frankly I didn't care too much for your terms of wanting my cat Fluffy as collateral in case I reneged on the bet. I thought that was a bit harsh. But i accept those terms anyway.

It's been properly notarized and all set to go.

Oh i got a great one all picked out for you already, with thoughts of Dimeman behind it. 😉

So the contract is ready, good then, we shall settle this on November 5th, in front of the saloon, high noon! And I have a good avatar picked out for you as well, a photo that represents the Cowboy fan base very well. And by the way Fluffy will be mine someday, muhahahaha!

Funny story - back in the day, the avatar bets were way too brutal. Some of them lasted the entire season. That's really too much - a week is punishment enough.

So anyway, me and one of the best posters ever on this forum, he's a huge Emmitt Smith fan, made an avatar bet to last several months. Eagles against the Cowboys, and the Eagles won.

So he had to remove, i can't remember if it was a Cowboys logo avatar or an Emmitt Smith pic avatar, but it was easily recognizable by all. I can't even recall the exact avatar I made him use, I think it was just an Eagles logo.

Well of course there are some CU members who post on the trading cards forum but don't view the posts here on Sports Talk. After a while a few of those members, after seeing his new avatar, would comment to him that they thought he was a Cowboys fan? I imagine that used to hiss him off, but I'll admit I'd have a good laugh every time I saw a comment like that. 🤣

    All in good fun. 😎

    ....
I was involved in one or two longer bets, but not all season. I lost a bet to @doubledragon last year, if I remember correctly, and also beat @galaxy27 in an NBA bet.

Your bet with DD should have been for until the 2nd meeting in December, just to make it more spicy 🥵.

DD is a Panthers fan. Now that is punishment. I don't wish to punish him further too much.

So I figure I'd show some mercy and only make his losing avatar bet last one week. 😉> @doubledragon said:

You might be talking about Lawnmowerman? He has an Emmitt Smith avatar and is a huge Cowboys fan, he hasn't been around for a while, but he was a poster in the trading card and sports forums. Anyway I'm looking forward to our bet, as @thisistheshow said, I beat him last year twice, the first time he had to use a cowboy Aaron Rodgers avatar for a while, and the second time I made him use a Bill Belichick dressed as Cam Newton avatar, I took him into custody twice last season, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to take you into custody on November 5th!

Eagles and Cowboys fans are like the Hatfields and McCoys.

I think Matt is the only Cowboys fan who I ever liked.

But I never liked him enough to let him out of a losing avatar bet. 😉😎

Yes, being a Panthers fan has toughened me up over the years, so much disappointment, of course I was born tough, as evidenced by this photo of me as a baby, so I'm ready for anything!

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

New York Giants - 57 unanswered points to begin the season.

Gotta be a NFL record I would think.

I just saw where the Giants have petitioned to play the rest of their season in a local high school football conference.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,991 ✭✭✭✭✭

Mercifully for the Giants it's now halftime.

Can the Giants set another record and give up points at halftime? 🤣🤣🤣

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm loving this Giants thing, they still have yet to score a single point, I hope this ride never ends!

You guys are making that boring game so much fun to follow now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,991 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well, nothing good lasts forever - Giants finally score.

As we all know, the Cardinals are not a good football team. Conceivably, the Giants could come back and win this game, because it's the Cardinals.

    We shall see.

You see, this is what I'm talking about, Cowboys get three cracks at the goal line to score and they have to settle for a field goal, we can't have this Mike.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,238 ✭✭✭✭✭

cowboys have absolutely controlled the time of possession this game. Jets have a good defense, but they cant play the whole game.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I take full responsibility for the Giants coming back and winning after being behind 20-0. The famous reverse jinx is alive and well.

Three 2-0 teams in the NFC East.

Should be a very interesting season.

I'd wish the Cowboys good luck, but you'd know I didn't mean it. 😉

Yep, the Cardinals thought they had the game won at halftime, and took their foot off the gas.

That's what bad football teams do.

Tough to call a line this far out. The Eagles are home, and I'm thinking it might be a pick 'em game. Perhaps the Cowboys -1 or something like that, based on the first two games.

Should be a heckuva football game. The team that makes the least mistakes will likely win it.

One thing for sure, Nick Sirianni will have his players ready. Not that they really need much of a pep talk for a game against the Cowboys.

    ....
I mentioned here, after he was drafted, that they were talking about him being the next LT. I understand there is only one LT, and it is hyperbole ...but the point is, there were very high expectations.

And the Cowboys sort of lucked into him. The picks they wanted were gone, and they took him. And the Cowboys happen to have a good DC who uses him correctly, and figured out that Parsons can play at more than one position.

Yes, glad we have him, and Parsons said he doesn't want to be just the DPOY, he wants to be league MVP, what do you think about those Apples? Eagles fans put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Oh, he's just sore because my Cowboys have an unstoppable defense, just look what we've done to the State of New York the last two weeks, we got New York football in our hip pocket, and Philly is next!

It was only meant as a silly insult to a Cowboys player, and I know you know that.

But now that you got me thinking about actually trying to make a comparison. Elizabeth Taylor was well known to be quite arrogant in real life. Many star actresses are like that.

Parsons said, "I don't think I just want to make the Hall of Fame, I want to be known as one of the greatest Hall of Famers."

I'd say the above quote from Micah is also quite arrogant. He should play at least ten years in the league, and win at least one Super Bowl before thinking thoughts like that.

As a matter of fact, I'm even more pumped up and ready to go, I'm excited, I think I'll go hook up the VCR I purchased in 1988, if it still works, and watch our 1992 Super Bowl victory on VHS!

i was like yo this is the Chicago Bears ledge, you ain't got to go home but you got to get the hell up outta here

Diggs as you know is a shutdown corner. Usually there is a huge difference between that and a second team guy. Nick Sirianni is salivating at the possibilities this opens up for the Eagles offense.

And please stop with the constant PM's...asking me, begging me, now it's pleading with me to let you back out of the avatar bet. Must have been over a hundred messages already. The answer is still no, a hundred times no, a thousand times no.
