Does my gold coin look good to you?
Sorry about the photos, I'm not a professional.
To me, they look beautiful. When I took and retook my pictures, I could never get a true look at the entire coin. When I hold up my one coin in every angle, I do no see rim damage or other flaws. I personally would never take the coin of the capsule to look at it and take pictures.

the rim is simply not fully struck up. i haven't but look to the design on both sides and if there is a lot of design relief near the rim then there you go. one indication it is not fully struck up is the placement of the issue over many coins and another is that the area noted appears shiny like the fields as a highly polished planchet would be.
pcgs will grade these as struck in a similar way that not all cons are FBL, FS, FB, FH, etc.
If I understand correctly, the reverse eagle's head high relief combined with the obverse tree trunk base high relief may be preventing the rim above the eagle's head from being fully struck if the Mint press hydraulic settings are inadequate.
If so, it seems like the person in charge of monitoring the Mint's coin quality at the press should notice this weak rim strike on so many examples and up the pressure or strike more times.

Thank you Ms Morrisine for you input as I was not going to send mine in due to the rim issue. However after what you have said, I went ahead and sent mine in for grading.
For me, those marks are way too distracting. As someone said earlier, once you see it you can’t un see it.
I don’t care if it’s graded a 70, 71 or a 10; how I see it matters to me.
Besides, Grading moderns in the 70’s is very subjective. I have seen a wide range of quality from PCGS and NGC in their top grade. Particularly with gold.

I like these two shots best!!! And your gold looks great! Oh, shhhhh, don't tell anyone you're not a professional and don't apologize .....you're fine!
After seeing all these posts with coins having edge issues, I looked hard at mine that just came 2 days ago and was pleased to not see any. The worst that could be said is that there are a couple of spots of pinpoint lustre loss on the rim.
This coin in hand is absolutely beautiful and FWIW puts the "beatdown" on the 2021 issue with the bronco. Really high relief on the tree with a def. 3-D effect; another aspect that I really like is the Art Deco like treatment of the rock that the eagle is purchased on - smoothly angular (if that is possible) with facet treatment that is really exceptional.
Nice job.
This came on the same day as the Jovita quarters that really also deserve awards also..
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
Um, true, and trying to convince my childhood collecting friend of SIXTY (plus!) years to pop for it. I told him I'd get him the silver medal but doubt it would have the appeal of the gold...
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
mine came today, wife and I announce it perfect. First impression, A+, the mirror background stunning. Biggest surprise, the rock perch is 3D and really juts out, did not see that so far in representations.
My .02 on returns and buy timing. You think a govt org like the mint can process a return, evaluate it for resell and list in a week or two? My novice mind says they get offered as a batch a month or three from now. The US debt proves that nothing gets done cheaply or efficiently or quickly when the taxpayer pays;

Yes, I agree and tried to express this as well. Who would have thought that the rocks were so well done and attractive, let alone the super high relief tree (with a woman's body in there ??) and the wonderful eagle.

Akkkkk....don't start any urban legends!!!
Whoever said that, thanks a lot!! Because now I can’t unsee that and a few other things.
dang bought it to flip for a flip, now I like it too much. Just like the 2021. I can see the reality show now: Hoarding Episode 305 - Too Much Overpriced Gold. Pan into me looking at the ground mumbling, "I bought them for a quick flip to help the family. But somehow I never sold anything." Mother-in-law scowling, adult children out of patience with it all - just sick of all that worthless gold! Get the volunteers and dumpster and start crying because it has to go - either trash bin or donate to charity, keeping just a few coins like a "normal", non-overpriced gold hoarder person would do.
I bought two and if I thought I would get a pristine problem free coin, I would be all over getting a third. With two rim problem coins I think I will unfortunately pass. I thought about returning the ones I bought but I like the design so much I made the decision to keep them. IMHO I’m thinking most going out now might likely be the returns.

I originally ordered 2, i've kept 1 and returned 2 replacements... ordered yet another replacement which arrives tomorrow. If the third replacement is bad, I'm sending it back and calling it quits.
BST transactions Wondercoin, MCM, levinll, Zrlevin and ajaan. Been buying and selling coins on E-Bay since 2002 as Monk2580
Mine showed up finally, quite a beautiful coin, both sides, there is slight rim trouble in the same spot everyone else has noted...but not terribly bad.

That's not acceptable on a $3k coin. "Not terribly bad" is still bad my friend.

FWIW....1393 coins remaining according to Page Source tool.
48 hours later 1305 coins remain.
One of the major retailers just listed it for $3955. Might have caused a bit of sales flurry because "stocklevel" went from 1302 to 1281 in like 10 minutes between page source refreshes.

How do you obtain the "stocklevel" info?
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
I have only been able to see stocklevel on my Windows 11 PC using Firefox as my browser. I am not at my computer so I am doing this from memory. Bring up the usmint page for the high relief gold coin. Then on the top menu of the browser, try and find tools. Within tools you will see an option for source code. Then after you select that option you will see a bunch of code. Use the find option to look for the word stocklevel. I actually searched for the word available. Then you will find a very long line that has the info. I hope this helps. I do not have access to my computer.
1) Open the Mint 'product page' of interest. In this case, 23DA.
2) Show page source (code). The steps to do this will depend upon your browser (e.g., Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.).
For me (Safari), the shortcut is 'Option + Command + U'.
3) Search the page source for "stock level".
For me (Safari), the shortcut is 'Command + F', then enter "stocklevel" in the search box.

So 'stocklevel' and 'availablecount' are basically the same tool....they both say 1280.
Returning mine. I have the rim issues above “states of”. Also Schmutz in front of the eagles beak and a tiny scratch below the R in liberty on the obverse.
I am a lurker who rarely posts.
I also got one of these and it seems to be good with no rim problem.
I am planning to send it to PCGS but would like to know what tier is appropriate for that.
Thanks in advance.

Borderline Regular tier, but most likely Express tier because of the $2865 price tag.
Good luck.
ps. Express for $70 +$18 First Strike is quite fast service.
Express is the only option. If you submit it under another tier they will probably up-charge you. Mine were received by PCGS last week and went into QC yesterday or day before. I expect results any second now. refresh. refresh.
Well, I have come to the conclusion and maybe it’s just a delusion. I sent my flawed rim coins in to be slabbed. I will always know by there distinguishable flaw's wherever they land in the future that I owned those coins from there initial offer from the us mint even if they are cracked out of the slab someday. I was thinking the perfect coins all look alike and who knows who’s is who’s unless you look at the slab number. Just my weirded out justification on the matter to make me feel better about my decision.
It doesn't appear that the rim issue is enough to hold it back from being graded a 70. Below are a few PCGS 70 coins that appear to have a rim that is not "full" above the "TES" in "STATES". Likely this issue is being considered "as minted".
I appreciate what PCGS are trying to do but it is just too distracting for my taste.
It was a similar issue on the Palladium Eagle and I found one with a full rim in MS 70 and am content.
I can’t accept the distraction on this issue, as is, particularly in the 70s designation.
@MsMorrisine when you said that they would grade as struck I was skeptical. What you suggested and how they are approaching these rim issues is one in the same. Thank you for your input

Both coins for my brother arrived today, w/o any of the issues mentioned in this thread. He was very fortunate.
Wait, if it's a 71 I want that coin!!

Looks to me that your coin has the rim issue that had been found on many of these coins. Check closely above the word States.
The mint decided to take a wire brush to mine. (Scratches are on the coin itself)
Jeesh. Saddening.
Mine was returned, for refund, to its original owner due to rim damage.

weird, stocklevel went from 1280 to 1281. Cart expired or a dreaded return processed for resale?
