That Jimmy Butler 3 attempt where he basically was untouched untill kicking Aaron Gordon in the junk is by far the worst review decision by a ref that I've ever seen. Absolutely brutal and then they let Butler get away with a travel in the paint two plays later.

Game 6 was in the league's sights.
Thankfully Immy Buckets blew it for them in the end. 🤣

I agree. Let's just put it like this... He's no Jayson Tatum
There are some great stats coming out since the game ended.
Joker became the lowest drafted player in history to win FMVP.
Jokic averaged 30/13/9/1/1 46%/3pt and had 10 triple doubles in 19 playoff games.
Nikola Jokic becomes the first player in NBA history to lead the playoffs in PTs, REBs, and ASTs
Jokic and Murray are the first duo in NBA history to avg 25 PPG, 5RPG, & 5APG in single playoffs.
Four players have averaged 20+ PPG and 10+ APG in the Finals:
Magic Johnson (1987, 1988)
Michael Jordan (1991)
LeBron James (2017, 2018)
And now, Jamal Murray.
Murray became the 9th canadian to ever win the FInals.
List of 2x MVP with at least 1 FMVP:
Jokic
Duncan
Curry
Giannis
Moses
Magic
Bird
LeBron
Wilt
MJ
Kareem
Had their been FMVP back in the day Bill Russell & Bob Pettit would probably be on this last too.

Saw that, it was embarrassing and even more so that they reviewed it for so long even though everyone knew they were going to call the foul as legit
Denver was so much better though, blown calls couldn't even help Miami

Congratulations to the Nuggets
There have been many blown calls throughout the nba playoffs that really have you scratching your head wondering why the ref blew the whistle.
One play was earlier in the series (G1,I think) where Bam looked like he just high fived Joker on a shot attempt and got called for the foul. ESPN showed the replay from different angles and Bam never even touched Jokic.
Those types of calls are horrible but when you and your crew spend 8 minutes reviewing that Butler kick only to double down on it,its like what are we even doing here? Whats the point of reviewing things if you're going to miss something so blatantly in front of you?
I don't know how many times the lead changed over that last roughly 15 mins but both teams kept at it especially when you see that Miami shot 9-35 from three and Denver 5-28. It was an entertaining hard fought overall game.

It was definitely a great game, not that I cared either way who won but its good to see that that ridiculous call didn't impact the outcome of the game.
What Sanction is politely saying is,no more basketball until October. 😔
For those of you still wanting to watch some basketball, this NBA youtube channel has been airing Wembanyama's french league playoff games live. https://www.youtube.com/@NBA
Their next playoff game is on 6/15 at 2:30pm EST
Here are some VW highlights from yesterday's game. That block at the :40 mark and how high he got up to get it. 😲 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbvEaHLN9FE
I didn't know this but apparently Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke is on one hell of a run where his three pro sports franchises have each won a championship in three consecutive years.
Rams in 2021
Avalanche in 2022
Nuggets in 2023.
I truly enjoyed these playoffs. They didn't end the way I wanted them to for my team, but only one team can win it all. I enjoyed this thread, as I did last years.
I think a regular season thread would be good. Atleast for me. I know that there are plenty of one-off topics, but I don't always follow along with everything NBA, so ...
I'm cautiously optimistic about and interested to see what will happen with the 2023-24 Celtics.
I actual got into the NBA and NHL this year, mainly because of betting on it but even when I didn't place a wager I definitively checked out the scores which is way more attendance than I gave before

so difficult to tell where two teams in a series stand when the roadie steals game one, gets behind in game 2, then ultimately lays down and dies because "they got what they wanted." Philly and L.A. both looked like they were giving 3/4 effort in the 2nd half of their games, which led to a bevy of open looks and made Boston and Golden St. look like well-oiled machines
i suspect both G3s will have a much different look

I think you are projecting a bit with Philly. The Celtics are in control and you gave already lost the bet.

the only reason i'm posting is because i received email notifications -- plural, 3 of them -- that i had been mentioned in a thread.
come to find out, little toe......or big toe.......or pinky toe.......whichever toe he is, i can't remember?......quoted (again) a post i made 3 months ago and responded verbatim with the exception of a misspelled word this time around. and did it 3 times.
i suppose i could delve into this even further, but i have a funny feeling that i'll wish i had those precious minutes of my life back. so let's just pretend like pinky toe was drinking at the butt crack of dawn and decided to log in.......that'll be a lot more fun.

Yup and Denver's 3 best bigs in foul trouble. Gordon has only played 7mins, Green 5 which means Butler's getting to the line and Bam to the basket.

A very hard fought game 5. Neither team shot well. Both teams played very good defense. Either team could have won the game, it was close all night.

Thanks to all who participated in this thread. It was an enjoyable 2 months of discussing playoff hoops.
I expect that next year the NBA will have the Denver v. San Antonio games played on a national, prime time broadcast to showcase Jokic v. Victor W.
Serbia's reigning Finals MVP vs. France's new face of global hoops.
