I was somewhat of a fan of Joe Mazzulla coming into this series but he looks like exactly what he is right now,an inexperienced coach who obviously can't connect with his roster
agree 100%. i think they sorely miss Udoka's coaching, especially on D. they have the look of a team that has completely lost its identity on the defensive end. Miami has hung 362 on them thru 3 games -- and the Heat had the worst PPG of any team during the regular season.
if Mazzulla keeps plagiarizing my thoughts i'm gonna start charging his ass
The thing that gets me is, they finished out the second half of the 2021-22 regular season at an historic level on defense. Pick out any great defense ever and they were comprable to it. Now with literally the same exact group its like they just forget what to do on that end of the court. Just like with Tatum & Brown on the offensive end late in games,we know its there and what they're capable of. We've seen them finish out many big games and we've seen the defense do the same. Where the hell is that team when its needed most?
The Celtics front office is about to extand those two players with a price tag of 613M in the next year or two, they really need to decide if it makes sense to keep on this course with both of them. With that type of money on your books going to just two players you really need to have one player who can carry the team when the other isn't playing well and vice versa. They show glimpses that they can do that but right now they're both making the same mental mistakes that they made in the Finals a year ago,not to mention what ever that was in the effort department last night.
Will LA toss in the towel like Boston did in yesterday's Game 3? Or will the Lakers show up and compete?
Further, tomorrow night is Game 4 in the ECF. I hope that Boston regroups, shows up and competes for the full 48 minutes.
If Denver and Miami both win Game 4 they will each have over a week to rest and prepare for Game 1 of the Finals. A Denver vs. Miami Finals will be very interesting to watch.
it’s amazing how Miami plays hard, together and as a team all 60 minutes. Boston waved the white flag in the fourth to rest their starters for game 4. Tough road for Boston
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Lebron had a great start to the game but he pretty much wilted in the 4th with the game on the line. Only hit 1-6 shots,1-2 FT for 3pts in a 2pt loss. He also had 2 shots blocked in that quarter.
He deserves credit for playing with some pride but he looked like a gassed 38yr old by the end. Still,Kudos for making it this far after how they started their season,I don't think even the biggest Lakers homers saw that coming.
Denver looks like a well oiled machine right now and although Miami has been playing great, I think this is the Nuggets year. They have a knock down shooter in Murray,a second one who can get just as hot in Porter Jr and a deep supporting cast behind them. Now that he has a healthy team around him, the Joker can be a facilitator one night then a scorer the next whatever the team needs.
It doesn't bring the same type of drama that a Boston/LA Finals might have had but it should be a very entertaining series with two well coached teams going head to head.
Your write-up above is excellent. Thank you so much for sharing it (with the class).
Nuggets in 5.
Celtics in 6
........ Celtics in 7
Celtics in '13
Celtics in 3013? Well Al Horford will be about 280yrs old by then while Marcus Smart is out there playing on one leg.
I really see Duece Tatum IV coming with that killer instinct to win FMVP after the Boston Celtics beats the LA Lebronnies 7-6 in the Finals. 😎
I forgot to post this last weekend after it aired right after G7 of PHI/BOS. Its a recent conversation between Shaq & Kareem we're they talked about why Kareem wasn't so friendly with Shaq when he came into the league. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvTuOS22ZrM
offtopic but something i just learned of recently: Shaq and a handful of other players weren't the only ones to shatter a backboard during a basketball game. Michael Jordan did it too back in 1985 during a Nike exhibition game overseas. i don't know how I missed this dunk during the many years I've collected his stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj1UIfeL-FE

Celtics Nation: My "Boston coroner post" was a take-off of the coroner in the Wizard of Oz (that little munchkin dude). Anyway, I had him fired last night after the C's victory.
On a more serious note, last night's game reminded me that "You're never as good as you look when you're winning, or as bad as you look when you're losing."

Get your comment ready for after game 5 when the Celtics win.
If there truly is ZERO chance that the Celtics will lose Game 5, then the league should just not even have the two teams play. Give game 5 to the Celtics. The series is now 3-2.
Move on to Game 6 in Miami.
The same thing was said about the New York Jets in the 1969 Super Bowl. There was ZERO chance the Jets would win. Funny thing is, the game was played and the Jets won.

Looks like a couple of coaching decisions could be made very soon. Nurse won a ring with Kawhi but Atkinson might be the better fit. He won a ring as one of Steve Kerr's assistants last season and he could probably bring some of that GS offensive system with him. [Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: The Bucks are narrowing group of top candidates in franchise’s head coaching search: Nick Nurse, Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson and Toronto assistant Adrian Griffin. These coaches will be part of final conversations with Milwaukee leadership this week.
Toronto would seem like the perfect fit for Steve Nash after what he dealt with in Brooklyn. They're a somehwat young team with no major expectations outside of trying to make the playoffs so he'd be able to develop as a coach while doing the same with the team. [Charania] The Toronto Raptors met with Steve Nash to discuss their head coaching job, sources tell me and joevardon. Nash, a Canadian basketball legend, had a .584 record (94-67) in two-plus seasons coaching the Nets. Toronto has had a wide-ranging coaching search.

Heat guard Gabe Vincent is ruled out for G5 due to his ankle injury and Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon has been playing with a torn tendon in his shooting arm that may see him get considerably less minutes in tonight's game. This maybe the perfect time to try getting Payton Pritchard some minutes.
Despite the heralded defense of the Lakers, the Denver Nuggets had an 124 offensive rating, at 118PPG, 49% FG, 40% 3pt shooting.
Prior to facing the Nuggets in the Western Conference finals, the Lakers had the #1 defense post All Star break and had the #1 playoff defense at 107.4 defensive rating. The Nuggets on the other hand actually INCREASED their offensive output vs The Lakers as they averaged 119 offensive rating but a 5pt increase vs the Lakers.
Just remember 23 - 10 is not a final score. Boston has faded in the 2nd half many times. They use up all their energy in the first half - AKA Lebron 31 in the first half then 9 in the second in game 4 - BUT Good luck to the Celts tonight!

So with Charlie not dropping in to give us another pregame greeting thinking that if he stayed out it would reverse all of the good karma Boston gained after the previous win, does he now have to come back before game 6 to reverse his previous reverse?
😂😉🤣
I'm feeling that he set into motion a sequence of events that is now completely out of his control with Boston gaining their confidence back. 😎
Good for Doc finding a new home with the Suns. Lets see if he can now get DeAndre Ayton to fully buy-in after all that has gone on between the front office and him. This could be a much easier route to a title than Philly ever was, especially if they add some more depth.

Tatum possessing the F YOU mentality i mentioned before
He has It he just needs to learn how to access it at will which should happen as he matures. He's played 6 seasons but he's still fairly young for NBA standards at 25 yet he's already accomplished so much by that age.
I know most commenters here don't watch many of the Celtics regular season games but in recent years Tatum has been part of many lists where he was top 5-10 in history reaching a certain milestone by a certain age. Here's one off the top of my head: https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-made-three-pointers-in-nba-before-turning-24 but there 's been numerous others as well. Not to mention the first Celtics player in history to average 30ppg. Most C's fans have seen his growth as a player and have no worries that he'll eventually find his FU mode soon enough,
If that trade ever happened, everyone involved in the Spurs organization should be fired immediately lol. You'd think that any trade offer would start with the Thunder giving up SGA as the centerpiece.
That proposal was from this ESPN+ article that had a few others like Embiid for the #1 pick🤣 https://archive.is/r6gKn
(ps..that archive site is very handy to gain access into certain places😉)
There's a zero chance that SA trades that pick when I've read that Tony Parker has been giving them firsthand knowledge on the kid for years now after having coached him. For the NBA draft conspiracy nuts, you might be able to add VW to the Spurs with some of the other longshots that ended up happening.

Game 4 halftime Nuggets 58 - Lakers 73

Denver Nuggets sweep, Nuggets 113 to Lakers 111
Quite a 2nd half comeback by Denver.
Also a vintage performance by LeBron James, especially in the first half.

In anticipation of autopsies from you fans of Da C's, here's some mood music:
As Boston Coroner, I must aver
I thoroughly examined her
And Da C's aren't only merely dead
They're really most sincerely dead
So what will happen tonight?
No team has ever come back from being down 0-3 BUT there has never been 2 teams to go 4-0 in the semis.

after what i witnessed this evening, i honestly think the Celtics have a good shot of pulling off the unthinkable
G5: will they really lose a 3rd straight game at home? i say no.
G6: the pivotal game. if they go back to Miami with the fire and intensity they manifested tonight, it can easily go to....
G7: there would be an avalanche of pressure on the Heat, and i think they'd get buried by it.
about to put my money where my fingers are

Nope, not a problem, it just means they'll be fat and rusty by the time the Celtics roll in for game 1. 🤞
