I just happened to take an inventory of all my W's yesterday...
But I've got nothing on @joeykoins lol.
I believe one of them came from a car wash change machine this year.
Maybe a total of 4 of them were found in change since we started searching for them. All the rest are from rolls.
I've got a good handful in there that are MS65 and one or two possible 66.
I remain a fan of these although only got a single "W" in change - War in the Pacific as I recall - as I almost always use credit cards (like most probably). This was in 2019 and got in change at the Chic Filet (sp?) at LAX; there were a bunch of people in line or I would have asked the cashier for more change.
I got most of the rest on these boards at BST for reasonable prices and some very nice, possibly 66 quality including a Marsh. The 67s are IMHO not worth the prices being asked.
As a sidenote, it appears that the TPGs were not spending a lot of time on grading these as I have seen some pretty shabby appearing graded coins in 66 and 67 that really didn't look the grade at all & some at 64 that appeared under graded....

Good Morning Everyone!
Yes, like WQuarterFreddie, posted,
him and others are in a total different ballpark compared to my numbers!
I'm only presently at #221.
Spectacular where those guys are at!
So, we now are heading into the 5th year of the "W" search.
Although, my recent finds have been very rough, condition wise.
Like someone mentioned, there is still, a high potential of hunting down those high graded W's! You may never know if and when a 67 or even a 68 grade W can turn up in our bank boxes? Just like any Silver coinage that turns up every now and then.
A vast majority of the world still is oblivious of our Great "W" Program! People, kids, foreigners, coin dealers and unfortunately, even thieves are throwing these gems in circulation without having the foggiest idea what they just did!
So in closing, like I always overstate.
"STAY PERSISTENT!"
They WILL still show up. Yes, even in the high valued grades. I believe this anyway.
Good Luck Everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY HUNTING!

I’m only at number 15. What do individual coin and sets sell for right now anyway?

Still searching for the elusive W here too! Only found one in change so far, the rest from rolls. Condition of these seem to degrade each year as circulation for each increases, but still have faith that some may be hiding in original boxes never circulated. It is fun, on this searching journey I've found some cool quarters-painted, gold, enhanced, silver, and proof...fun to keep all the S mint marks too. I have yet to find any doubling errors though, those seem to be really rare.
It occurs to me that the W quarters all share a great similarity to the old eagle reverse clad quarters. For all practical purposes the mintages are about the same for one. People didn't set aside rolls so all that's left are the mint sets that each had mintages of... ...drumroll please... ...about two million.
They are all "specially made" in that the mint sets coins were the best of the best and the W quarters were made at West Point that has much higher quality than the other mints.
We're rapidly approaching the point that many of the older eagle reverse coins won't be available in circulation except for a very few low grade culls leaving only the mint set coins for collectors.
That's a lot of similarity in mintages and survivorship.
Most of the old mint sets are gone now and those left are usually tarnished. This means nice attractive older quarters are quite a lot tougher than typical W mint quarters.

I'm not at a thousand but I'm scratching the door right around 600 and I still have 5 uncirculated, unopen rolls with W-enders...
It looks like these brought a lot of collectors into the hobby. I think that is a good thing. It is always interesting when a new key or semi key (even a modern one) to a series develops. I guess in 50-75 years these will be like the 1931-S or maybe (to a lesser extent) 1914-D Lincoln cents especially if there is long term demand.
@Maywood said: @WQuarterFreddie said: I am curious as to what makes any U.S. Mint coin historically significant to anyone other than their rarity or their commemoration of a significant event, person, place or thing.
Finding a 1965 Quarter in circulation should be more important to a collector than finding a "W" Quarter in the same handful of coins, but it won't be. Why?? Because the "W" Quarter would be worth more. The promotion alluded to by @coinbuf and the actions of the Mint pumped up the price. Anything with value suddenly seems important.
Haven't read all the posts but yours is as good as any to reply.
I agree with you. Mintage of 2MM isn't close to actually low. it's low for a post-20th century US circulation coin and those from the same time period for many but not all countries.
The survival rate and absolute availability in "high" quality isn't even close to low which is a lot more relevant than the mintage. "W" quarters compete as alternatives versus other similarly priced coinage and presumably mostly in roughly comparable quality. Almost exclusively bought by US based collectors at a premium, as there isn't much evidence that collectors elsewhere are paying premiums for US circulating coinage at all.
Right now, I'd describe it as having the perception of a semi-key date similar to 1933-1964 classics. Maintaining this perception will be necessary to support or increase the price.
I've only found one in change a couple of years ago, but admittedly don't pay that much attention. I gave it to my son who sold it for $10 at his B&M along with some other low value coins.
@CRHer700 said:

The price fluctuates but as a general rule a complete set of 5 W quarters either 2019 or 2020 sell for approximately $100 each.
Raw W quarters range from $8 to $15 with the 2019 American Memorial and the 2020 Marsh-Billings being the most valuable at $25 or more.
Condition of coin matters! Circulated coins that have been handled for years are worth far less which is why I no longer spend my time CRH for them.
Graded coins MS66 or better are still bringing premiums that sell for more than the cost of grading fees.
Best to check Ebay completed sales for current market prices.
My comments above are general guidelines to help answer your question.
That's much better than I thought. I'll have to search for more. Are these prices for circulated or unc.?

Remember the days of looking for silver quarters? I’d find 2 or 4 / roll on a good day… that was back in the 70s and 80s / I guess I am an old cow these days
I have one 2019 set. I wound up buying each quarter off ebay as they came out. Have never found any in the wild and won't be buying anymore off ebay. Lol
The Wild Ws are still pitching a shutout to me. I have one that was a gift from a forum member and it remains my only example.
I hope the enthusiasm and value stay up over time.
I have looked at most likely every quarter that I've encountered this last year (2023) and didn't find a single W mint marked coin. I won't stop looking. I've found a few other nice quarters just by being watchful and I've also began to save every women's quarter that I've encountered; except for a few that were stained or gross. I plan to continue to save them and see if I can put together a set when that series ends. Happy New Year to all! Good health and good luck with your searches this year.

@CRHer700 , Just one W at the Coin Star, never 3. 3 silver, Yes!
@Che_Grapes, Now, back when the W's were released in 2019, I was at the checkout at my local Nob Hill, and I saw a W in the clear plastic charity-jar. I told the casher if she opens the jar and gets me that quarter, that I would put $1.50 in return. She did and I did. That was an interesting one...

The W Washington quarters are an interesting beast!
I decided in early 2021 to see if I could get a complete set of states quarters and national parks quarters by coin roll hunting. I got almost all of them that way, going through 90 rolls (I have a short attention span; 90 was all I could do before I just spent a very few dollar to buy the few remaining).
That's relevant to this thread, because I didn't get one W quarter in 90 rolls.
I live near Seattle, and that may have made a different (though I got a bunch of rolls from my sister in Maryland, since it was clear that I was getting a lot of Denver coins, and not much else).
But I bought the full set of MS65 W quarters, for far less than I've spent on many, many individual coins, so it's not a big deal. And that leads me to wonder why anyone cares about the "price trend" of coins so inexpensive.
Nobody is going to get rich "investing" in these coins. Nobody is going to go broke buying these coins.

I guess it depends on what you consider rich. I can tell you many here have found a lot of these coins, have sold a lot of these coins and have funds many of the coins in their collections with those proceeds. That's like winning the lottery for an average collector.

Fair enough.
Perhaps I phrased things poorly. I was not intending to say that it's silly to collect them; it's just that whether a coin is worth $20 or $30 doesn't seem too important to me (a guy who understands that he's fortunate to be able to go after some of the coins he goes after, even as he gazes in wonder at many of the coins posted here). But, certainly, YMMV.

Yeah, the "S" minted ones are awesome as well. I have a High ms 67 S graded in the 2021s Airmen. In which, also has a stated " Strike Through" on it. PCGS has it listed for $225, without my Strike Through!
Here's the Quarter before I sent it in.
.
I would not call that a "strike-through".
It is a strike on a defective planchet.
Funny, I too got an MS 67 2021 "S" Flyer quarter too as I like it. And I have liked the W quarters in moderation; glad I found one and 8-10 dollars for the other 9 with a couple of extra I got as gifts for collector friends. I like that they are at least somewhat scarce and were released to circulation.
And the designs decent enough as well.

I have been watching the pricing on these coins on eBay since their release in 2019.
For many years the pricing stayed strong.
The requesting / auction price was extremely high as the coins were found in circulation as new releases usually are.
Overtime they reached a lower pricing level but still a tiddy profit for the sellers.
I noticed that around the end of 2023 that the prices were slowly dropping down to a more affordable range.
In my opinion, the prices will continue to fall as sellers need to raise cash by selling older inventory to purchase new.
My 2019 set will be all in ms66 and the 2020 will all be in ms65.
Each set will contain 15 coins.
They will consist of: First Week of Discovery, Early Find and a coin not attributed to the FOD or the EF catergory.
I still need 8 coins to complete the 2019 set and 7 coins to complete the 2020 set.
My latest addition.
PCGS priced at $115, my cost $45.

My inference from the OP's posting pattern (where they seem to only post about W-quarters and nothing else) is that he is hoarding these coins, owning at least hundreds (maybe many more) and presumably all from circulation at FV.
If this is "ballpark accurate", it makes a difference and explains his motivation.

You might very well be correct.
I don't know about his hoarding, numbers found or motivation. But reading between his line, I would put my take up against his or anyone's. Not because I'm better or smarter. Maybe because I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, where the Fed sent them to banks and dumped them into circulation. Plus, I was laser focused, tenacious and had the time and money to hitting banks in my area non-stop for months.
Was it a lot of work?........Hell yeah! Did it pay off?......Hell yeah! I don't need to tell you, it was a windfall. I was selling them from 15 to 20 bucks each.....by the roll. And I sold many rolls. You can do the math. I've mentioned in other threads, they funded my keys dates and completed many albums.

Has anyone found a W quarter in their change this year? I have not, but I still look every time I receive a quarter.😉
I found this one at the end of December. I did not find many this year, perhaps 3 maybe 4, I don't even bother to put these on my spreadsheet. Keeping in mind that I do not CRH, any I find are just random change finds. I don't have a total but would guess I've found around 20 or so in total. Multiples of some, none of some, very hit or miss. Interestingly I have found the most of the AM Memorial which if I recall you mentioning it was one of the least abundant in your finds.
Anyway as you can see this most recent shows significant handling scuffs and marks. I would guess this is what anyone should expect to see from circulation. I cannot imagine anyone paying $5 let alone $10 for a coin in this condition, but I never check places like ebay so who knows.

Your example is exactly why I stopped CRH searching for them. At this point the overly circulated W quarters are at best conversation pieces and hold minimal monetary value above face in my opinion.
What continues to amaze me is how completed sales of W quarters on Ebay remain consistent on a daily basis 5 years after their release and their value is holding firm for the coins in much nicer condition.
Just took a quick tour on eBay.
One dealer has reduced all of his W quarter listings by 35%.
I only checked on the 2019-w quarters in ms66 and the 2020-w quarters in ms65.
All are PCGS graded coins. I have not looked at NCG coins yet.
I feel that more dealers will soon follow with price reductions.
In my opinion the market is declining and not maintaining.
Time will tell.

I have no issue with anyone who's collecting these; have fun with that... but they are far from being a long-term winner imo. These will continue to drop a) as more get slabbed and b) as interest wanes. They are not particularly rare, and most of the big proponents of these are more into finding, "making" and selling them than buying them... and that doesn't bode well for long term value, temporary upticks notwithstanding. Gradual reductions in prices and the fact that many if not most dealers don't really mess with them are signs of that. From a personal standpoint... quite honestly, I could count the number of people who brought in a found one to show us on one hand, and who have inquired wanting to buy them on no hands. YMMV.

I understand. I'm just giving you another prospective.
I take it you have VaultBox hysterical amnesia...
Nice. Looks like you both have no clue about my almost daily active participation on the forum and the many different thread comments I have posted which total over 2400 and climbing.
I suggest you both take a look at the Lincoln roadshow threads and become active participants in the current folder we are circulating across the country. I think you both could use your time more wisely on this forum.
You're so hypersensitive. That was not a criticism. But the person I responded to claimed you only talked about W quarters. That clearly is not true as demonstrated by the MULTIPLE VaultBox threads for which you became famous. TRUTH.

I have two of them and very proud of them!
Coins are Neato!

Well, just Love coins, period.
@joeykoins is the most self promoted collector of W quarters but he is definitely not the one who has found the most W quarters. This is not meant as a criticism and he will agree to this fact.
There are more than a handful of members including myself that have found more than a thousand 😉
Good Luck Everyone and
HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY HUNTING!

Personally I have many W quarter ender rolls still tucked away in my "vault" where a 67 or 68 may be hiding.😉
Just saw this in the latest edition:

I’m only at number 15. What do individual coin and sets sell for right now anyway?

It depends on the condition.

Found one in a Coin Star machine. My 2023 sales results below. I keep in under $600 so I don't have to report it.
History always seems to repeat itself.

Meanwhile uncirculated "S" quarters from the same years, with less than half the mintage, are available for less than 75 cents each.
If I planned to buy and hold for several decades, I would consider them a much better value.

Perfect example of supply vs. demand. A coin is only worth what another is willing to pay for it. 🧐
Where are you located in this world?
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
No, but I might post some there with my next finds.
You can still find some, I found 6 last year, and @Joe_360 has definitely found more than that. He even found 3 at once in a coinstar if I'm not mistaken.

And that's how you do it, being proactive!! 👍 👍

That's like winning the lottery for an average collector.

.
I would not call that a "strike-through".
It is a strike on a defective planchet.
.
Well, just Love coins, period.
I don't know?
That's how they (PCGS) seen it.
I could be wrong here but I do believe, Mr. Fred Weinberg, had say in my coin, just before retiring?
I thought it would come back as a, "Rim Burr?"

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I have been watching the pricing on these coins on eBay since their release in 2019.

You know what happens when you assume?
I will leave your ignorance to speak for itself. You don't know me or my motivations.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.
So, you are making a big deal over trivial sums?
What a waste of time and effort.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.

I take it you have VaultBox hysterical amnesia...
YMMV.
