@sjjs28 - I kinda have an opinion when looking at others that have been graded but gonna just see what happens. When the dust settles I am going to keep one Graded Gretzky and sell the other two is my current plan.
I pulled cards from the LEFT of the box facing me to the middle. I got through the entire LEFT side and NO GRETZKY!! I was nervous and told myself there is a reason and they will all be on the RIGHT.
They were all on the RIGHT along with the Trottier and the Record Breakers. Let's just say the RIGHT side was very invigorating!!
I am not grading the rest even though there are some CENTERED CARDS. Not a lot but some.
There are STARS in the Acrylic Case including a few duplicates of what I have holdered for grading but obviously not Gretzky. Mostly centering issues with the STARS. Some are ok and some are tough.
If anyone is a SET BUILDER type collector and wants these fresh BRIGHT cards just PM me with an offer. Otherwise I plan to accumulate some stuff for auction.
@balco758 - Thanks!! I didn't start collecting until 81 so missed out on this stuff. I really wanted to pull a Gretzky myself and have failed with a few packs that I have tried. I should be done with 79 now (knock on wood). More stuff to navigate through though!!
Trip Gretzky’s is one sweet break! Congrats on the hat trick and thanks for sharing the rip. The colors on those really pop and very few print spots to boot. Sorry the centering wasn’t better. Topps Gretzky’s are notoriously OC from left to right. Looks like you have a solid shot on a PSA 7 for the one in the middle and on the right. Here’s hoping one lands an 8.
@balco758 don’t be embarrassed. I did the same a few months ago. Early 80’s bring me back to when I started collecting as a kid. Just started back a couple years ago
Outstanding! Last vending boxes I cracked were 1974 Topps Hockey and 1976 Topps Basketball, yes, the postcard sized ones. That was quite a few years ago, I don't think I'd have the guts to crack a 1979 Hockey box. You beat the odds with 3. Congratulations!
Having a great time living vicariously here. This is easily now my favorite thread on this forum! Thanks uffdah!
Hoping you will purchase that unopened Mars Attacks wax pack at memory lane (assuming you pass their absurd 3 interviews + polygraphs +background checks) and crack it open
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
@coinspacks - 74/75 Vending. It started out rough on centering. Note the 2 Bill Walton Rookies. Cards like that. Then it exploded into incredible centering, commons too.
Thanks!! Yeah I have opened some 73 and 74 WAX PACKS of all sports and they can be BRUTAL. To the point some cards are virtually junk. I'm very happy and lucky with this box. There is a lot to get graded and will try and get some sent in soon.

If you pull a Grettski I've been chasing that common for a while. Happy to cover shipping.
Helluva tease!
Can’t wait to see it, good luck!
If that is your morning - can’t begin to imagine your evenings!!!!
Good luck!
Boring.
Let me know when you bust a case of 1952 Topps High Numbers.
I am calling out that you will find 5 Gretzky rookies. Let me know what I won. xD
I was a freshman in high school when we opened 79 packs. Cards were cool. Girls were better.
Look for the error card #8.
Only two nines and no tens.
"HAT TRICK" of Gretzky ROOKIES!!
Obviously not top end centering but the colors on fresh pulls from Packs and Vending is almost always BLAZING
Some more cards I will plan to have graded for my pull and grade collection
Any pre-grade estimates/opinions on the gretzky's ?

Thanks for sharing. This was awesome to see. Those are beauties - even if off center. Those blue borders pop.

hey UFFDAH,
You see Gretzky and other hockey legends posted almost everyday, but I think this one is Pretty Cool…

Hopefully middle one grades a 7.5.
Send them all in together perhaps? Attach a note and pic they came from vending? Ya never know!
I would have major concerns if that swayed PSA's thought process even one iota.
Incredible break. Wow. So cool to see 3 new great ones untombed.
Are you ripping more after that?
Wow, congratulations on the Gretzkys!

Love it Chris! Congrats on the Wayner hits!
Can't wait to see a few more I know you're itching to rip soon! Cheers!

I’m staring at a 1984 OPC Baseball Sealed Cut Card case wondering if I should open it. This thread really makes me want too!!
An add to make the thread all inclusive.
I had split a BBCE Box with 2 other collectors. We divided the packs up evenly and graded. I had Three 9's and Three 8's.
I ripped one pack and it was the right one. The rest were sold.
Loving this thread Uffdah! I'm a Wisconsinite myself. Growing up we had a cat named Uff-Da! Keep rippin!!!
Man, if not for that left edge ding that Bradshaw looks like an 8++.
HOF SIGNED FOOTBALL RCS
With out the left ding the right ding nowadays will keep it at 7/7.5

Commenting only to move this to the top of the thread and encourage Uffdah to rip!
Happy holidays gents.
Steve
Here is a new rip from this year with a grade back. I really like 1970 FB Cards....
"Have a Holly Molly Christmas, Its the Best Time of the Year.... Oh My Gollly Have a Holly Molly Christmas with Beer"....
Awesome! 1970 FB cellos was the start to my addiction lol, what glossy card did you pull? Thanks for sharing, John
Current obsession, all things Topps 1969 - 1972
@jmoran19 - thanks Buddy. You are one of my heroes of unopened!! And opening!!
Great thread, packs were made to be opened, if you can afford it this is pure card porn.
Wow those Moly/Trammels have really good print compared to most.
Wasn't UL the dude who at the plate woudl have a large toothpick in his mouth?
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
Yes he was! Solid career with KC.
In fact the toothpick is memorialized in a major Royals fan blog https://ulstoothpick.com
UFFDAH strikes again! Bring on the Gretzky. Can’t wait!

Last night I put up the Christmas Tree!!
Out of the gates I had difficulties but as I continued digging through the decorations things became very "centered" and well balanced.
is that a 1973-74 bkb vending box?
@coinspacks - 74/75 Vending. It started out rough on centering. Note the 2 Bill Walton Rookies. Cards like that. Then it exploded into incredible centering, commons too.
Some great looking cards in that box. Wow!!! Tough set to find centered.

Nice looking tree. Sweet bkb vending. I need that Kareem if you are looking to sell.
Thanks,

Hello All -
Sent some pulled cards off for grading this week. Mix of Vintage and a stack of modern basketball. Will share results when I get them back.
I have a lot more cards that were pulled to grade yet.
