My second Payton from a Cello Pack is now graded
Those corners are pretty sharp. Not sure I have seen a 6 with any better corners. Too bad the left-right centering was not better. I wonder what it would have graded with good centering.
The company my Dad started in 1972 and that my sister and I sold in 2021 manufactured products out of wood for the Craft and Hobby Industries. Pine, Basswood, Walnut, Oak, Cherry were the primary species.
Thus, I love 62's with the wood grain!!
I have some back from grading that came from cellos. A few are mind benders!!
I just cracked open a 1982-83 OPC Hockey Cut Card case. Ive sent in 200 cards, Gretzky's, Fuhr Rookies, Ron Francis Rookies and Hawerchuck's (hopefully I spelled that right). Plus several other stars. They just got logged in today.
Got to know Sam “Hawk” Taylor when I played in college as his son and I were teammates at Kentucky. Since I was a catcher I would always pick his brain on any tips I could learn from him. Very nice man.
On of my all time favorite packs I’ve opened in the last 20 years. I have one 1st series pack currently and it’s the only one I’ve ever held. Love to open it. But I just can’t do it. But I want to so bad as I dreamed of doing so for the last 20 years and finally found one recently.
Mostly a baseball collector (dabble in hockey and would like to start a Bears HOF collection) so not as familiar with football. Those backs must chip within 5 minutes of opening. Congrats on Griese - if only it didn't have the indentation on the bottom of the back. Beautiful cards. Love all your vintage rips. You have more fun than any of us!

Opened a 1969 Topps Football Wax Pack...
Nice! Richie Petitbon was my neighbor, 2 houses down, for most of my life...still lives there AFAIK. Used to hang out a lot, even after he became 'Skins HC for a season! Love Richie!
The guy came to my parents Halloween party in late 80's as a baby, pacifier and diaper and all! Think my mom still has a photo of that. lol

Can you get it autographed? That would be a great piece of memorabilia.

My second Payton from a Cello Pack is now graded
Finally got this card graded. It came from a Vintage Breaks "pack break". I had one slot.
Wow that Brockington grade is rough. Looks like an 8 all day to me. How are none of those 8.5s if not 9s. Crazy harsh on beautiful cards.
i need to someday get a walter payton rookie .

A couple Hockey cards back from grading. I pulled these from WAX Packs that were a part of the last CU Group Break.

Awesome. Love the ‘62s. Would be an amazing thrill to open a ‘62 pack. You must have had a great time opening it up.
Hey Chris...
1962s are beautiful in high grade...but ugly, if not. Congrats on the 1962 Series #4 checklist!
That scoring leaders card is awesome!

Chris...
That Weekly is strongly! Beautiful card...
That is a 3rd Series pack...any Micks?
I was sure trying for a Mick but no luck except 2 Mick Stamp Panels.
I just found this thread. Incredible.
Did you grade out all of the Series 3 1972 Topps Football?
Would be interested in any cards you don't want to keep...
Erik

Those 62s are absolutely gorgeous. Is this a wax pack or cello pack rip?
Cello Pack Rip
A POP 22 PSA 9 - Only 1 PSA 10
I can't believe the grades you're getting on these pulls with these vintage! Congratulations. These are beautiful.
I pull vintage from wax and cello and am lucky to get 8s.
I'm surprised they weren't 10's
they are outstanding cards!

Unbelievable! Are these 1962s from one (1) cello pack rip?! If so...what a pack.
More than one. More are in grading.

Chris…
Keep the hits coming! Congrats on the centering on these!
PSA Scans of a few more of the 62's including a Torre Rookie.

Amazing cards.
I doubt we will ever see packs of freshly ripped 62's ever again!

The wood look of 1962 is appealing to me as well for the same reasons you mentioned.
