tomorrow i'm gonna watch Alabama win, then i'm gonna watch Michigan win, then i'm gonna watch Georgia win, then i'm gonna get supremely drunk

then on Sunday i'm gonna wake up with puke chunks stuck to my shirt and watch the Chiefs polish off the second leg of my NFL parlay

a more sophisticated way to leave '22 and enter '23 there is not

I don't know...I'd be surprised if all three of those teams won tomorrow. That would be a bit too predictable. 🤷🙃

Yeah, for @galaxy27's sake I hope they win too. I have no dog in these fights. I really am out of the loop on college football. I have been since at least the mid 90s. Lol. I know that here in the Fort Worth area there is a lot of TCU hype.

From what I’ve heard the sharps are all over the Bills. They were putting big money on the early at -1. Means zero of course but the line will move to -3 by game time.

Galaxy I might do that parlay.
Gives me a chance to bet on kc because I never take the point spread on them.
I also like bucs +4, bills -7 and bengals -7. With my luck those 2 lines will go to 7.5 by sat. when I’m at casino.

Nice to hear today that they’re saying Damar is slowly improving.

and apologies in advance, as the pga tour season starts in earnest tomorrow and i'm going to be cluttering this predominantly nfl thread with golf bets. but since football commenced i have posted every wager i've placed and i'm going to continue to do so.

i like Finau both as a player and a human being, but in the past six years at the Tournament of Champions JT has finished 1, T22, 3, 1, 3, T5

Going in light this week on some small $5 bets. I plan on following Theegala,Hovland,Zalatoris,Burns,Spaun this year. Some mid range value players. I've noticed this past year JT has trouble on Sundays. But overall he is a solid top 20 pick. I caught Theegala for his win late last year. Also parlayed Theegala in his last win for a top 3 finish into Georgia last week. Did not make a killing, but cashed. Good luck to you this year. I will be checking in here as the year progresses. Pumped for the Masters already. Would just like to walk that course someday.

The chiefs spread has gone from -7.5 to -9.5
The chiefs don’t like to blow out inferior competition and it would be tempting if it got to 10.
The raiders could win outright since they have a better qb now

how appropriate is this little gem from the very first round of the year

my favorite golfer reminding me why he's my favorite golfer

Tiger Woods would have reamed these two guys for yapping about gambling while he was trying to putt. meanwhile, Jordan offers up a fist bump and tells them that he would have been doing the same thing

    1. Went to the emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack. I was. Right in the emergency room I crashed. A cardiologist was at the hospital visiting a patient at 10:00 pm was in the room with me. I was clinically dead, paddles for 20 minutes. Called. Intern jumped on my chest said 56 is too young to die and beat me back to life after 3 minutes. Woke up during stint implants with the breathing tube. It sucked.
Woke at 7 am and he asked me questions and when I answered coherently called me his hospital miracle and had other doctors come and see me. I know what Damar has been through. His condition has brought those memories back. 10 years and every day is a gift.

2deuces wow amazing story glad you’re still with us.
I had prostate cancer so had it removed and I don’t remember this but they said after surgery they took me off anthesisa and I wasn’t breathing on my own. I don’t know exactly what transpired but when they put in a breathing tube they said I was trying to pull it out. I woke up in ICU with the tube and my arms strapped to the sides of the bed. The funny thing is I could tell I was sedated and was very mellow. I was out almost a whole day. As soon as they realized I wouldn’t fight the tube they untied my arms. I remember the head anthesisaologist
visited me and told me they had quite a difficult time with me. 😗

I wish I wouldn’t have gone so conservative on the bills, bengals two team parlay.
Great odds at -147, both teams at home and plenty of incentive to win.
That was almost like free money and I knew it but I only put $200 on it 🤔

It was as close to a free money weekend as there will ever be and I dont feel like I got nearly enough of it either. And the parlay Im going to connect on today is going to offset a losing golf bet.

What a reversal of fortune Sunday at the Sentry. Colin 6 stroke lead going into the final round. Rahm completed the charge. I had neither going. Never a sure thing in golf even with a big lead. It's hard to string 2 day leads in a row much less 3 or a 4 day wire-wire. The Tiger days are over. Sympathies to any Colin backers who loaded up on him for a Sunday win. That's one thing I like about golf. Success lies within one player. No one can cover for you like in a team sport when you are having trouble. Well on to the next tourney. It's a long season so my fellow players pace yourself. There is always next week.

Rant time. Because I know how much Darin lovvvvvvvvvves my rant time. But it's probably not going to be what you think.

Let me preface this here rant by saying that I watched a lot of action yesterday. Over the course of the day I'd estimate that I saw 10-15 plays where an offensive lined up with less than a yard to go, and they employed the QB sneak. Guess how many of those attempts proved unsuccessful?

Now you know where this is going.

I've either been participating or watching sports practically all my life, and I fail to come up with a scenario that drives me crazier than an NFL team that overthinks or tries to get cute and avoids a > 95% effective play call. Yet if you watch enough football, rest assured you will eventually stumble across a handsomely-paid, handsomely-idiotic head coach who decides to do just that.

And right on cue, it happened again last night in the Detroit-Green Bay game. But before I show you the play, I stated in another thread that every time I see something like this happen, I'm immediately rooting for that team to lose -- even if I have money on them. IT BOTHERS ME THAT MUCH. So when Matt LaFleur conjured up this stroke of brilliance on his team's side of the 50, I literally said out loud, "Welp, that's it. I no longer care about my 180$. All I want now is for the Lions to put the Packers to sleep."

I can almost guarantee that some team in the playoffs is going to pull a stunt like this and it's going to cost them dearly. Maybe even cost them their season. The sheer stupidity is inevitable.

Now fast forward to 1:30 below. Enjoy!

Galaxy i agree with your rant but if the Chiefs need to do a QB sneak they better put Kelce or one of our other big tight ends under center.
And I think that is Andy Reid’s policy because ever since Mahomes dislocated his kneecap a few years ago on a QB sneak I don’t remember him trying another one.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,209 ✭✭✭✭✭

Next week my early thoughts are a bills, bengals, 49ers parlay.
I’ve been corrupted by all of galaxy’s parlays and now that’s the only way I seem to bet.😢

But I really don’t see how any of those 3 teams could lose next weekend.

think about the journey involved to reach the promised land. take any team with 4-figure odds and ask yourself, "do they realistically have a chance to string 4 consecutive wins together, with multiple victories over the likes of Kansas City, Buffalo, Cincinnati, San Francisco, and Philadelphia being required? throughout the season, have ANY of those teams shown a propensity to accomplish such a feat?"

i don't know about anyone else, but i can immediately eliminate Dallas, LAC, Tampa, Minny, Baltimore, Jack, NY, Miami, and Seattle and feel very good about it

Yeah, I was kind of being tongue in cheek...just fishin' for 'pinions. I don't plan on wagering any dough myself. Like I've said, I live vicariously through my forum brethren.

In all honesty, I would most likely be harping on the old adage of not counting out the GOAT, except for the fact that I can only assume this is Buffalo's year. It still wouldn't surprise me to see TB reach the final game, but I think the Bills are going to finally take it home.

it was a 28-3-esque type of collapse. when Rahm bogeyed his first hole of the final round, he was NINE back of Morikawa. the rest is (infamous) history.

i think CM will be just fine, however. his bugaboo has been the flat stick, so the fact that he was leading the field in strokes gained: putting thru the first 3 rounds bodes well for him in '23. he's too talented to allow this to adversely affect him for long.

JT languished the entire tournament and i lost my first golf bet of the year. back on the horse this week.
