you guys will get a kick out of this, and no this is not me crying over spilled milk. NBA bets just make for entertaining anecdotes, so i thought i'd share last night's doings. showstopper you will especially enjoy this because it involves the Mavericks.

per my post above, i triggered a 3-team parlay yesterday. the Celtics completed the first leg, the Clippers completed the second leg, and i had the Jazz in the third and final game against Dallas. Utah isn't a great team by any stretch (they were .500 prior to tip-off), but they had a decent record of 18-10 at home. the main reason i tossed them into the mix, however, is because the Mavericks were completely undermanned last night. no Luka (hurt), no Maxi Kleber (hurt), no Davis Bertans (hurt), no Dorian Finney-Smith (traded), no Spencer Dinwiddie (traded), no Kyrie Irving (not yet with the team), and no Markieff Morris (not yet with the team). unless someone was a fairly serious Mavs fan and/or fan of the NBA, zero chance they would have known all the guys they trotted out last night.

so while i was at the gym i kept an eye on a TV with the game showing. Boston and L.A. had already won, so i knew it boiled down to Utah-Dallas. in the 1st quarter, the Jazz raced out to a 15-point lead. two thoughts entered my mind at that moment in time:

1 - "how much am i about to win again?"

    2 - "will Utah win this game by 30, 40 or 50?"

    final score -- Dallas 124, Utah 111 😂

on a serious note, this may augur very well for Dallas. if the supporting cast has the ability to play that well, they may be a very formidable team come playoffs time after their new horses have been inserted and the team has had time to gel.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

    ....
The mood surrounding the Mavs yesterday was very positive. And Christian Wood was coming back for the game. He didn't shoot well, but still had 9 boards in 19 minutes. I'm pretty sure the team was "jazzed". I'm not totally surprised they won, but I would have been shocked if they got blown out.

my boy Hideki was up 5 shots on Matthew Fitzpatrick going into the final round today, and today Matthew Fitzpatrick picked up 5 shots on my boy Hideki

that my friends is called a vomit-inducing push

so, where was i again? ah yes, the final football bet of the season. just going with my gut on this one. i think Philly is the better overall team, but I think Mahomie will get another ring.

and then i think darin will get so trashed that he hooks up with fire hydrant's sister-in-law

i sure hope ALL of this comes to fruition

    Going with the Chiefs!

My app has +105 ML KC, I did not place a wager on either team, just prop bets which I will not type out before the game, I don't want to jinx myself lol

I am leaning towards KC winning so best of luck bro

Well I managed to win this one but lost a total of $80 for my efforts

I did a bunch of prop.bets $240 total so got some of it back

for some unknown reason my book keeps all futures bets pending until season's end, even if they have gone up in flames long before that. so i decided to do the same. but now i must remove the brilliant $100 stab i took on the Chargers winning the SB to keep my P/L accurate. and no, i did not take the Bears under 6 wins, even after saying prior to the season that it was basically free money. that was next-level brilliance.

meanwhile, a tiny morsel of action this evening just because NBA parlays remind me of going to Six Flags and hopping on a roller coaster. and i love me some roller coasters.

very proud of this bet, but not for the obvious reason. the amount involved was definitely nice, but how hard i drilled it is where i derive the greatest satisfaction. Mad Max opened up an 8-shot lead on Big Tone after day 1 and i coasted the rest of the way. always nice to back a golfer in an H2H matchup who comes in 2nd in the entire tournament.

and yes, i deviated by waiting until afterward to show the result of this one. but believe you me, i was going to reveal it regardless of the outcome. any wager i've placed has been posted here, and that won't change until i'm done. for some reason i felt a little superstitious and decided not to jinx this particular bet beforehand.

i'm comfortably in the black since this all started, so my plan is to pay it forward. the Masters is roughly 45 days away and we're gonna have a little fun. stay tuned.

    Oh no!
I don’t feel good about that bet.
TCU whipped them 83-60 at Allen Fieldhouse.
But good luck, maybe KU will pull out a win.

I don’t bet sports any longer. However I have followed zag basket ball for 25 plus years. I just read on the zag board that Saint Mary’s is a three point favorite over the zags on Saturday. It’s a game you might want to look at

GU is at home. They have only lost like 1 game at home in over 75 games.

They lost to st Mary’s on the road this year in OT

It’s espn game day at GU

GU has in the last two game played a 3/4 trap press I’m sure Few will use it to speed up St Mary’s

I just don’t see GU dropping this game

Anyway take a look. It also may be a trap game I just don’t see St Mary’s as a favorite here

    Go Zags
    Martin

Disclaimer I will not be betting gave it up years ago

@perkdog sounds good bro. i'll do my very best not to lead you astray, lol. and i won't go against the grain like last weekend's bet.........i'll make sure they're up in time.

@Martin i appreciate that info my man. my ears always perk up when someone is willing to expound on a lean. as soon as that line surfaces at my book i'm going to park a few clams on the Zags.

@galaxy27 just when back to the Zag message board apparently a couple
Of posters don’t know how to read a line. Zags are indeed favored. I’d just sit back and watch

Galaxy shocked me because he’s going against his boy Speith. 😱

My strategy lately is simple. Go to the casino, lose $600 on ultimate Texas hold ‘em, get pissed and bet twice that much on a basketball parlay and squeak out a win. Last Sunday I had atl hawks and they won on a trae young buzzer beater. and ucla who barely beat Colorado.

My new strategy is reflecting on all the ridiculous stupid ways I came so close to winning parlays this past NFL Season, I'm talking losing thousands of potential dollars because of 4 out 5 type stingers

I haven't bet since the Super Bowl, maybe my break in the action will reset the losing tare I was on lol

@perkdog i hear you. i couldn't connect on diddly-squat the first 2-3 months of the NFL season. very nearly hung it up, but instead i decided to take a break and clear the cobwebs. then i took a stab at wiping my slate clean via our men's soccer team. that hit, so i went back to my nemesis (the NFL) because i'm immensely stubborn like that. been methodically building the 'roll ever since. occasionally i'll get a wild hair and drop the hammer, but for the most part i'm trying to remain disciplined and even-keeled as best i can.

the great thing about gambling is that there's always action. it'll be ready for you when you're ready for it. 💪

@Darin when dinero is involved i can easily shove my personal biases aside. sorry J Spieth!

    nice hit last weekend!🍻

I forgot to ask you guys but any thoughts on Boston Bruins winning the Stanley cup? I think I will put a wager on it this weekend. Of course I don’t know much about hockey but I watched them play the oilers and they looked great. Believe they have the best record in nhl

The thing about the NHL is its a huge field cone playoff time, the Bruins look like the best team right now but anything can happen in the playoffs

I do like the the Bruins if I was going to make a wager like that and I'm not a homer with hockey

Galaxy………. It seems like Jordan knows what you did and is taking it as a personal affront.
I know there’s a lot of golf left but -7 and in second place not to shabby.

I don’t want to see you lose money but you have to admit if he wins that would be kind of hilarious.
Betting against your favorite player and he wins the tournament. 🤭🤭

And I’m only kidding you about this because you’ve done so well lately with your bets, if you were down big I wouldn’t mention it.
Hatton at -1 so not over yet but he needs a big comeback.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,211 ✭✭✭✭✭

Perk thanks for the thoughts on the Bruins. I think I’ll make a bet that they win it all. They have a lot better chance than most teams and they have played great all season long.
