    interesting bet my book offered up for The Players Championship this week. basically the top/hottest 11 players in the field (or close to it) versus the rest of the field at a smidge over even money. i shall partake. need one of these 11 "big guns" to win the tournament.

    I’m about done until football starts up. I stupidly had KU as part of a two team parlay and they got blown out. Did win a Jalen Wilson over 18.5 points wager.
    Am going pretty heavy on Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. Last weekend they were +400 today were +375.
    I mentioned several weeks ago I have Mcdavid for most goals during regular season. Odds then were -150 and he lead by 4 goals.
    Checked today with the season winding down and with a 10 goal lead the odds are -7500 so I booked a good wager back then. 🥳

    Nice McDavid bet, Bruins are definitely going to be in the mix so hopefully they can stay hot for you

    I actually hut a 5 team College BB parlay yesterday for a $109

    First action since the Super Bowl, I'm probably going to bet a little during the Tourney but not too heavy

    thought about parking some dinero on NCAA tourney games, but I really wouldn't have any idea what the hell I was doing. might help if I actually watched some of these teams play first?

    1st round of the Masters in 22 days.

    what could galaxy27 possibly have up his sleeve?

    Tommy Fleetwood making the cut + Brian Harman missing it =

    now for some NCAA action

    how does that quote from Ben Franklin go? but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and a 12 over a 5? well, i just looked it up and three 5s have taken out 12s thus far, leaving us with one to go tonight

    doesn't that mean i should take out a second mortgage and dump the proceeds on Drake?

    for some reason that seems like a really dumb thing to do, so i'll just try to win 50 smackers by outsmarting the gambling Gods and buying a point in hopes that they can -- at the very least -- hang tight

    i was long overdue for a bad beat, and i got it last night. Drake was up 55-47 with 5:40 left and proceeded to score a grand total of 1 point the rest of the game.

    That was disappointing but not unexpected. KU wasn’t going anywhere with one consistent big man, 6’9” kj adams. He didn’t have anyone to help him all year long.
    Good luck with your next parlay galaxy, I have Texas and UCLA on a two team parlay.

    I looked at the tourney matchups and I’m not really comfortable betting on any of todays games.
    I feel lucky winning my parlay yesterday as both games were close.

    I would kind of like to bet on Embiid winning NBA MVP. I heard he’s overtaking Jokic as favorite with the way he’s playing and the Sixers on a winning streak lately.

    Yesterday I played ultimate Texas Holden. Within about 15 minutes I got pocket aces and another ace came on the flop and the last ace on the turn. Quit shortly after with
    $265 profit. 🍺

    i just spent an hour analyzing today's games with intense mental application and after i was done i had an epiphany:

    i just pissed away an hour of my Sunday.

    Jordan is in position to win the Valspar today, so i'll be glued to golf. but if i don't drop some coin on 8 games i know absolutely nothing about, then what kind of gambler am i?

    here's hoping that today's slate lives up to this tournament's name and it's sheer madness. i'm gonna experiment by sprinkling on every dog plus the points (Creighton was +1 when i initially tried to pull the trigger and it moved to a pick 'em, so i kept 'em).

    good luck fellas if you end up making a move today

    check this out fellas. exhibit A as to why sports betting is not for the faint of heart. this was either a miracle cover or a bad beat for the ages, depending on which side you were on.

    but before i get to that, just let me say that i hit 6 of 8 yesterday :D. the final game, however, was a doozy. granted i had a tiny amount on it -- i simply wanted to hit as many games as i could -- but no doubt there were an untold number of others who cared considerably more about the outcome of TCU-Gonzaga than i did.

    let me set the stage. so, i personally had the Frogs at +4 because i took every dog plus the points. i watched the game and toward the end it was crystal clear that i was dead. then it happened. when you watch this, think about what typically happens in a similar situation. thankfully for me and anyone else who backed TCU, a horned frog decided to do this 😂:

    and what did i say about an untold number of others? well, here's some. check out the reaction from bettors in vegas 😆:

    i've been hinting at a Masters contest for a couple of weeks now, and here she blows. this is a very long read, but a lot of pertinent info had to be included so kindly bear with me.

    but before i get to the contest, i must first say that i'm supremely stoked to be heading back to Augusta National for the first time in 9 years. i went with my old man for two practice rounds back in 2014, and we're doing it again in a little over a week. for me personally, it's being able to mark off #1 on my bucket list twice in one lifetime. thus, i feel extremely fortunate to be able to go back. it's the one tournament where practice days trump tournament days, imo, because of one very important difference: camera are permitted during the practice rounds; on tournament days they are not. so expect a superabundant number of pictures in this thread when i return from Georgia.

    now that that's out of the way, the aforementioned contest. my contest, my rules. here's who qualified:

    @2dueces
    @thisistheshow
    @perkdog
    @Alfonz24
    @Darin
    @BLUEJAYWAY
    @Martin

    in order to have done so, you had to have engaged in this thread since the inception. and my definition of engaging is posting at least twice. and it didn't matter one iota what you said. you could have dipped in back in October and said, "you guys are idiots," then resurfaced again in January and said, "i sleep with a Mike Trout blow-up doll," and you'd be golden. it pays to be active............perhaps literally.

    so, here's the dealio. each of you has $10 at your disposal. if that doesn't seem like a lot, well, you're about to find out why that could potentially turn into a nice sum. you will use your 10 bucks to bet on an individual golfer -- or individual golfers, plural -- to win the Masters. you may allocate it however you'd like. in other words, if you want to diversify and bet on 10 different golfers, i'll gladly place ten $1 bets for you. if you want to put all $10 on one guy, that's fine too. or anything in between -- it's your prerogative. if you bet on a golfer who wins the Masters, you win the associated amount of money, plain and simple. i'll zip it to you sooner rather than later via PayPal. "how much could i potentially win," you may ask?

    here are the current odds:

    if you're unfamiliar with how the numbers work, the odds you see above are the payouts per $100 bet on that particular golfer. so for example, if you decide to allocate $5 on Rory, the amount you could potentially win is $40, or 1/20 of $800. then if Rory won, i would keep my $5 and give you the $40. if you decide to stick $10 on a long shot like Sergio Garcia, you'd win $1500 (1/10 of $15,000) if he won the tournament. so on and so forth. the odds will hop around ever so slightly from now until the tournament commences, but for the sake of this contest (and my sanity), i'm locking these in. so it's possible that your potential payout could be marginally higher or lower, especially if you wait until the end of next week to put your bets in.

    the next paragraph is very important so i'm typing it in bold:

    do not post your bets here. message me privately once you are ready to exhaust your entire 10 simoleons. please have them in to me before next Friday morning (3/31), because i'm leaving for Georgia the next day. if for some reason you opt not to participate, please let me know. but just remember, this is a risk-free opportunity to win some loot.

    i will post all bets in this thread next Friday (3/31), so you have a little under a week to conduct your due diligence. not only do i hope that one or more of you drills the winner, but i also hope it adds a little spice as you watch (or are forced to pay attention to :D) the most prestigious golf tournament in the world (imo).

    if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask here or in private.

    good luck!

    I don’t think anyone picked Brooks Koepka unless I missed it. Several of you in good shape with Jon Rahm, Victor Hovland, and I think galaxy has Jason day.

    I had 2 picks, rory mcilroy out of it at +4 and Scottie sheffler hanging in at -4 but he needs to make a charge.

    What do you guys think about your picks how they doing?

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,211 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Okay my man sheffler decided to make a charge the wrong way, now -2 and falling fast. Probably can’t recover from that so I’m out of it good luck to everyone else. 😩
