Okay my man sheffler decided to make a charge the wrong way, now -2 and falling fast. Probably can’t recover from that so I’m out of it good luck to everyone else. 😩

I don’t think anyone picked Brooks Koepka unless I missed it. Several of you in good shape with Jon Rahm, Victor Hovland, and I think galaxy has Jason day.
I had 2 picks, rory mcilroy out of it at +4 and Scottie sheffler hanging in at -4 but he needs to make a charge.
What do you guys think about your picks how they doing?
Well if Galaxy were here I think he would be letting us know an amateur, Sam Bennet, is actually in third place right now at -8. Not every golfer was able to finish the second round because of weather, Rahm included.
Looking forward to the weekend, I know several of you have a chance to hit a winner in the contest.
Shout out to Galaxy for his favorite Speith at -5 and in great shape going into the weekend.
What a train wreck due to the weather. Unless there is some fantastic finish by someone else, Brooks or Jon look like the winner. Will be interesting to see how things pan out Sunday. My pick is alive with Rahm. The other bets I have are in deep water.

this bad boy is lengthy, so brace yourself. i'll do my very best to make it worth your time.
first off, i'm happy to announce that i owe a couple of peeps some celery. courtesy of Jon Rahmbo, @BLUEJAYWAY ($50) and @thisistheshow ($40) can now fill up their tanks for free. perhaps. 😅 if each of you will kindly message me with your email linked to paymepal, i'll happily fork over your winnings.
as for me, i whiffed on my $200 worth of Masters picks. not taking Jordan to finish top 10 or 20 was a really terrible non-bet, but i was jonesing for an upper deck shot. next time i'll shorten my swing and slap a double down the line.
my dad and i were very fortunate in that we experienced dry weather on both Monday and Tuesday. ANGC was just as special as i remember it being. one thing i immediately noticed, however, was the lack of color. reason being, some locals told me that the azaleas, dogwoods and magnolias bloomed early this year. there were some that hung on for dear life until the tournament, so it wasn't completely green out there. lots of anecdotes, but i'll spare you guys some misery and offload just 4 of them.
numero uno...............saw Tiger Woods in person for the first time in my life. pictures below.
number dos................i engaged in dialogue with a member of Augusta National. if you know nothing about the membership at ANGC, there are approximately 300 extremely lucky souls. every......single......one of them is somebody. we're talking Warren Buffett, Condoleeza Rice, Roger Goodell, Bill Gates, et al. and speaking of Gates, there is a great story surrounding him. he learned the hard way what happens when you let it be known that you'd like to become a member of Augusta National. under no circumstance do you ask the club. or even let it be known publicly. they ask YOU. when THEY'RE ready. IF they ever become ready. and if they catch wind of your interest? you'll be covertly punished. Bill Gates made such a mistake and was forced to wait years to get in. it is an extremely regimented and exclusive club.
back to my chat.
the member i spoke with was given a "job" on Tuesday -- man the 1st tee for a few hours and mingle with the patrons. he was an African-American gentleman from Florida. extremely gregarious and very down-to-earth. not the least bit pretentious. chatting it up with him was a real treat. toward the end of the conversation he said to me with a slight smirk, "why don't you just bust out your sticks and get after it?" i replied, "sounds good. and when i get accosted can i just say that you told me it was ok to attempt such a stunt?" he goes, "absolutely. then you and i can be dragged off the premises by our ears together." good stuff.
numero tres....................a lot of mystery surrounds Augusta National Golf Club. a LOT. it is a majestic place, to be sure, but there are a number of unexplained happenings once you get inside the walls. for instance, there are probably 256872804567802457680924568907260 ginormous pine trees on that property. guess how many birds i saw in two days? z-e-r-o. guess how many squirrels i saw? nil. guess how many insects? one minus one. i'm not being hyperbolic. i have my own suspicions, and i've read a number of enlightening articles, and i picked the brains of a handful of employees last week. but for fear of disappearing permanently, i'm going to tuck this topic into bed and allow it to sleep. 😆 i just found it astounding.
and speaking of gargantuan pine trees......................numero cuatro. did anyone happen to catch this on the news?:
not only did no one lose their life in that incident, but no one even picked up a scratch. can you say minor miracle? and here's the uncanny part: just four days earlier i was standing in that general vicinity when i took some of the pictures of Tiger below. i'm still in disbelief that everyone who was there lived to tell the story. i even read an article about a woman who made the best decision of her life when she decided to stick and stay instead of attempting to run away. as a result, a tree fell on each side of her........and she exited completely unscathed. that, my friends, is some good fortune right there.
now for the inundation. there are pictures of the course, there are pictures of players (including Tiger), there are even pictures of yours truly (on my favorite hole........#10........Camellia) and yours truly and yours truly's old man at Amen Corner in front of #12 green and the newly-constructed #13 tee box. i was far too tired and far too lazy to add captions, so if you happen to be curious as to what hole a particular picture was taken on, i'll gladly oblige you.
Agree with perk and showtime, great write up!

glad you enjoyed, fellas. thanks for the kind words.
and darin, there was a method to my madness neonness. cell phones are not permitted on the grounds at any time on any day during Masters week. so once you enter the gates you're immediately thrust into pre-cell phone days when you were stripped of convenience and often times forced to coordinate. toss in 75-100k of your best friends and unless you get creative, there's a good chance you could go an extended period of time without seeing each other again if you split up (which we did for a spell on both days). hence my loud attire so i could (more easily) be found.
on Tuesday i gave my dad a 15-min window to meet in front of the giant Masters leaderboard, because on the previous day "i'm sure we'll run into each other" went over like a lead balloon.
try going a single day without your cell phone in the year 2023...............you feel totally naked and helpless

What you just said about coordinating plans is something that so many people now will never be able to or forced to understand. And there are levels to it.
Some plans didn't go...as planned.
Not everything was an emergency.
Pre-thought was an innate fixture necessary to traverse the most common of human interactions.
couple of mini winners from the past couple of nights that I was too busy to post, plus this week's golf bet
since my fruitless Masters wagers:
1698.23 + 33.72 + 34.43 = 1766.38
I've said this before and I'll say it again: the NBA is ridiculous. I've completely lost track of how many times I've seen a team blow a big lead this season and lose. I should have eaten both of the bets below (the Lakers were down 15 in the 3rd and won, the Bulls were down 19 in the 3rd and won). You could bet on an NBA team that's down 30 in the first half and you'd still have a puncher's chance.
the good news from last weekend is that Cantlay finished 3rd and thus i cashed on him
the bad news is that my boy Jordan came within a microinch of winning that tournament. i would have gladly eaten my bet if it meant him taking it down. made me sick.
tonight feels like must-win for the Warriors, plus I'm very cynical when it comes to the NBA. i know the powers that be want no part of the Kings moving on instead of Curry & Co.
The warriors road record is terrible but they have a great home record. But no skin in the game for me so good luck. My only bets right now are for the bruins to win the east and the Stanley cup.

Agreed about the "Powers to be"
You guys sure are entertaining! 😀
First it was deuces and galaxy betting on Brady and Tampa bay because apparently after losing to the Steelers and panthers the powers that be sure weren’t going to let them lose to the ravens for their 3rd straight loss.
I bet on the ravens because Tampa sucked and got an easy win by keeping conspiracy theories out of the equation.
Now you guys minus deuces are starting the same thing with the NBA. 🤭

and i didn't bet on Tampa against the Ravens. i was just taking note of a massive line swing in favor of a Tom Brady-led team that had just lost to two of the worst teams in the NFL. if inexplicable happenings in life don't give you pause -- especially when money is involved -- it's your prerogative to pay them no mind. you do you. that's not how i'm personally wired. i always want to gain a sense of "why," if at all possible, before i fork over some dinero. you call it analysis paralysis, i'll call it prudent, then we'll go have a beer together.
now for the NBA. if you think it's beyond reproach, one name: Tim Donaghy. i'll also direct you to Game 6 of the 2001 Western Conference finals between the Kings and Lakers. i watched that game live and my mind hasn't changed in over 20 years. even Donaghy later admitted that it was rigged. with the help of the refs all 4th quarter long, LA rose from the dead, won that game, then won game 7, then won the chip. wonder how many more untold millions the association enjoyed with Shaq and Kobe winning another title, as opposed to a best-of-7 NBA Finals with Vlade Divac and Mike Bibby on the court? 😅
i've lived on this planet far too long to fall victim to naiveté when it comes to corruption in big business. i had a buddy who was living a charmed life working for Enron around the turn of the century, then his life collapsed in the blink of an eye. he told me stories that would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
