My gambling career is officially over today on my 60th birthday.
Bad beats have rained down on me for the last time. No more, not even scratch offs. The king of bad beats is done. 🥳

Three of my last several bad beats at ultimate hold em. I get pocket kings, another king shows up on the flop. Then two four’s show up on the board so I have king’s over four’s. Dealer turns over pocket four’s. 🤬
Then last night this happened in two consecutive hands, I’m not kidding.
I get a pocket pair both times then get three of a kind on the flop both times. So then on the turn and river the dealer puts 4 cards to a straight on the board both times. Not open ended either time, you needed one particular card to fill the straight. You already know what happened, the dealer had that one particular card both times. Two hands in a row!
I’m not happy to say I blew up, I stood up and knocked all my $25 chips all over and let fly with the f word many times, loudly. I knew I was too good of a customer there when no pit boss or floor supervisor came over to talk and tell me to settle down. They just wanted me to keep losing. So I’m done.
No more sports betting either except for the bets I made at the start of baseball on the Royals to win the central which doesn’t look good at all.

    Thanks Galaxy.
I’m already thinking I’ll try to work on my golf game. I’ve had some health issues lately but the exercise would be really good for me. And I don’t get pissed off when I hit a bad shot because I’m used to it, nothing rattles me on a golf course. 😀

I play poker on a free to play site, and I still get hissed off at a bad beat.

    Happy 60th Darin.

Scottish Open coming soon. I'm telling ya, bet your house, car, assets, money, dog, cat, goldfish, everything else on Rory to win or finish high in this tourney. He will be well rested and highly motivated to win this.

Bet the wife or girlfriend on it as well. Although check the legality of that. It may not be legal to do in some states. 😆

I don't gamble on sports, so good luck in whoever ya choose. I'll root for ya, as I live vicariously through other people's bets. 😉

FD has Rory as second favorite at 6.5 to 1 odds, to win the British Open.

In my view those are horrendously low odds. I mean for a major for crying out loud? On a traditionally very tough course? Those bastiges give nothing away.

    DK has Rory at 7-1.

A popular British website has Rory at 10-1 which seems much more reasonable. But American players can't bet there.

So FD and DK are grabbing a vig of around 30% to 40%. About the same as they do on NFL prop bets.

Tough game to beat, but good luck however ya decide. I guess if Rory wins by 5 strokes, that 6.5 to 1 will look like a bargain. LOL

    Happy Birthday @Darin

Brutal beats in poker are part of the game. I think Sports Betting give out more "Brutal Beats" at least in my experience

Sure I've lost some poker hands against astronomical odds but waaaaaaay more frequently in Sports Betting

Either way if your really quitting gambling I wish you success, it's difficult to just stop even if it's recreationally.

It's fun when you win and absolutely mind numbing when you lose by a bad beat

You read my mind on Tommy. He doesn't win on our soil, but is competitive over there. He's my sleeper, if you will. Will be chasing 4 picks for top 20 plays. Tommy, along with Aberg,Theegala, and Bezundehout. Going with the younger, newer guys. The last 3 I have been following since last year. Zalatoris concerns me with his occasional back issues. I think Bhatia has had his run. Will see how things play out after the first 2 rounds. Then may chase 1 or 2 win bets. Best of luck to you with your plays

As per usual the 2 plays I deleted are 1-2 as this is being posted. Other 2 picks: Theegala still alive, Bezundehout withdrew. Fleetwood looking good. Nothing like foreign soil for him.

saw Fleetwood turn in 30 and no part of me got excited. been doing this way too long. sure enough, he shot his momentum in the head and played his last 12 holes 1-over. saw him miss a handful of makeable putts on the back nine, including a 4-footer and one less than 3 feet on 18. absolute killer misses for all my bets.

    good luck with Thee

Tommy pump-faked me last weekend. birdied 5 out of his first 6 holes on Saturday to move to 2nd place in the tournament, then sunk like a rock from that point forward.......playing his last 30 holes at 2-over. have i mentioned that betting on golf can be a real mindf***? which is why i told bluejay that no part of me got excited when he surged, because until he putts out on the 72nd hole the other shoe can always drop. and unfortunately for me it did.

on to the final major of the season. a bevy of picks, including giving Fleetwood a chance to atone. and if Rory follows up his meltdown at the U.S. Open with the ultimate atonement at the (British) Open, i'm ready for him.

All my 5 picks were somewhat chalky for Top 20. Aberg, Fleetwood, Theegala,Hatton,Morikawa. So reduced the actual play to Hatton,Theegala. I've conceded 2 spots in the top 20 to Scottie and Rory. So I really have 18 openings to shoot for. Would of liked to narrow it down to one, but just too many picks that are competitive for top 20. So went with needing only one of my two play to finish in top 20 to make a profit.
Galaxy, hope you make a score with your play. Tommy owes you.

Not that anyone was paying attention (LOL) but please excuse my profound ignorance. Having not followed the PGA at all for a very long time, and never that closely to begin with, I thought the Scottish Open was the British Open. I thought perhaps they had renamed it?

Oh well, I got the tourney screwed up, but Rory did finish tied for 4th. So I had the right idea that Rory would win or finish high in his next tourney off the layoff.

We shall see if that adrenaline continues in the British Open, and I hope it does as I see Galaxy placed some coin on him.

@BLUEJAYWAY good luck brother! i considered Hatton as well. and i probably should consider Theegala more often.......he's a rising star

@stevek last week was the Scottish Open -- the appetizer before the main course. but you were on the right track with Rory, as he fared well. i hope you're REALLY right this week. B)

Usually I don't follow up on a player who scored for me the week before. But have been following Theegala for a while now. I am more apt to follow up on a player that tanked for me the week before. Many times I have been one week early only to have that play score the next week.

    what a bloodbath at Troon

4 of my 5 bets are gonna be dead going into the weekend

Tony shot even yesterday and was inside the top 20, then today he was in the death sentence afternoon wave and promptly went +10 thru his first 12 holes and now he's sniffing the bottom of the leaderboard

DeChambeau & McIlroy a combined +21 as i type this

    one player shot 91 today

    just gotta laugh

To this day I'm not sure which is worse, bad beats or ugly beats?

Perhaps the worst of all time for me combining the two. I visit an Atlantic City casino, I'd usually bring 1k or 2k cash was standard. I sit down at the blackjack table. It's a six deck shoe.

Around half-way thru the cards to be dealt in the shoe, I've never seen anything like it before or since, almost every card was a 2 thru 9. I'm not going to explain it further, everyone who has played blackjack knows what this means.

I had around $200 or whatever chips on the table. I quickly pulled out the rest of my bankroll, and converted it to chips, to enjoy the shoe of a lifetime. I'm thinking maybe 5k winnings by the end of this shoe.

Well you see it coming. I pump-up the bets, and I'm getting dealt 19, 18, 17, 16, etc, IE squat, on almost every hand, squat considering the cards left in that shoe. If I did get 20, the SOB dealer had 20 for a push. Face cards, tens, and aces were pouring out of that shoe, except in the right combination for my hands.

The remainder of the shoe, I got very few 20's, and no 21's. The dealer virtually every hand he had a 20 or 21. My 2k bankroll was obliterated in less than 10 minutes from maybe the greatest shoe of all time. I guess that shoe should be considered a bad beat as I was heavily favored to win, but it sure turned out ugly. 😒

Quite the train wreck. This Brown guy has career earnings of $147k. He is 29. Go figure. Maybe Lowery raises the jug again and with it a Guinness pint,or two.
Regardless of the poor scoring I really like this type of golf. More challenging. Sometimes those holes with all the bunkers looks like they conducted WW 2 shelling on them.

Thank you galaxy for the acknowledgement. Unfortunately only bet my 3 picks for top 20. However, I did clear a few $. Don't have to worry with a tie breakage when your pick wins the tourney outright. No ties for first.
One book had J.Vegas at 90-1. Bet 365 had him at 100-1.
My 3 picks last week for top 20 all missed the cut at the Open. This week one of my three picks wins. One never knows.

Still very impressive, and you called it cold in the Kentucky Derby thread.

I can't recall ever having a cold 19-1 shot at the track. Don't get me wrong, I've had some horses win at 50-1 and more. But it was a case of throwing out the one or two favorites in the race, and just playing the field of the other say five or ten horses to win.
