--- What happens if Ohio State and Michigan play some sort of a barn-burner 50-48 game??

Could happen, but I think LSU will finish with 3 or 4 losses. So Tennessee's win over LSU isn't going to look as sweet. LSU barely got past Arkansas. If USC runs the table, I think they will have the best shot to get the final slot. However, USC just lost their star running back probably for the rest of the season. So, winning out wont be easy.

LSU’s loss to Georgia will not matter.

The committee knows everyone else would lose to Georgia too.

    Tennessee destroyed LSU.

If Georgia loses to LSU then it’s

    1- Big 10 champ
    2- TCU
    3- Georgia
    4- UT

Meanwhile tOSU plays Maryland who just lost 31-0 to Penn State, and barely beat 1-8 Northwestern at home.

Must be lovely to play cream puffs week in and week out.

I guess after losing at halftime at home against ND, and getting outgained by 1-8 Northwestern, it’s a relief knowing your schedule has easy teams on it.

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,486 ✭✭✭✭✭

I will assume Ohio State will beat the cream puff Maryland Terrapins. After that, Ohio State may lose to Michigan, they have a really stout running back in Blake Corum. If the Buckeyes make it that far they'll probably win the BIG 10 Championship and be in the Playoff for the NCAA National Championship.

@Goldenage should hope for an Ohio State loss in the Playoff or previously to Michigan, or he'll be eating some major crow.

As for me, I'll sit back and enjoy whatever the outcome might be because Slippery Rock ain't in it. :'(

Speaking of cream puffs, this weekend is the infamous 'sec cupcake' week. Alabama faces the almighty Austin Peay LOL. LSU has UAB. Auburn plays Western Kentucky, and Texas A@M plays UMASS.

We all know you’d rather they be playing the Bills and Bengals on their off week from their brutal SEC schedule so you can scream “but they have 2-3 losses and we have none.”

    We understand.

Brutal? Do you think Alabama or Georgia would be undefeated if they played a Big Ten Schedule? Its just as brutal. Sec don't have to face the terrible weather conditions.

When tOSU, M, and PSU win back to back to back Nattys, then your conference will earn respect.

Until then, just accept that others are better than you.

When your conference wins 12/16 then you’ll be respected.

Love Burrow.. tOSU was not smart enough to keep him.

Most of the posts above were funny, I like the pissing contest arguments about college football because they really amount to nothing more than "my dad could beat up your dad" type of stuff. Coming from grown men!! But the Joe Burrow thing is too much.

When he was a Buckeye, Burrow just wasn't a very good QB and when he transferred he was number three with a broken hand in 2017. His first season with LSU wasn't spectacular but he got better as the season wore on. It wasn't until Burrow reached the 2019 season that he really flourished. Would he have done that at Ohio State?? Maybe. But as it was he wouldn't have started.

I understand the disdain for all things not SEC in college football, but you have to let go of the myths and fairy tales.

Burrow was the 8th ranked dual threat QB in the nation, high school class of 2015. The kid was the real deal and LSU and Joe showed the world his skills.

You are correct, he was an exceptional QB in High School but has admitted in interviews that those prep school skills didn't translate well to college. When he was playing behind JT Barrett and Dwayne Haskins it was a tough row-to-hoe, but then he broke his hand so the decision to keep him at number three was an easy one for then HC Urban Meyer.

UT is here to stay. Josh Heupel is the real deal. Read his book years ago.

UT is the only team that can beat Georgia this year. I’m a big fan of his. Dawgs look tough though.

He is the best either young coach or just plain coach period in the nation.

Bama should offer him huge money or risk getting beat by UT in years to come. Trust me.

  • BullsitterBullsitter Posts: 5,791 ✭✭✭✭✭

Most Bama people want Kiffin, including myself. But will he be available when Saban retires is the question.

Oklahoma secretly wants Heupel but Tennessee $$$ will probably keep him there.

JMO, Kirby Smart is the best college coach this year and last year. If Georgia wins it all this year, they'll be going for 3 in a row next year which has never been done.

As young as Kirby is, he has a chance to break and set all kind of records at Georgia and it pains me to say that...... B)

  • GoldenageGoldenage Posts: 3,278 ✭✭✭✭✭

You can have Kiffin. I’d take Smart or Heupel. Two best in the SEC.

Not a Kiffin fan at all.

Heard Deion may go to AU.

USC vs UCLA ought to be a dandy Saturday night.
I wish they could both wear their home colors.....gotta pull for the Bruins.... B)

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,486 ✭✭✭✭✭

c'mon, @Bullsitter, you're better than that, hoping that USC loses so you're team can move up or have a better shot at the playoffs. This might be one of those weird NCAA seasons where there are multiple teams in the four with one loss. I have said for a long time that it doesn't really matter who you lose to, what matters is when you lose. I can agree that there appear to be maybe 1-2 teams better than the rest, but then there are about 5-6-7 teams that are really close to each other and would fit well in the 3-4 spots in the playoff.

It'll come down to who lost when. In that regard Tennessee is best positioned because their loss was several weeks ago and the Ohio State/Michigan loser is in the worst position because they'll lose without a chance at several weeks of redemption. I think the real determinations will be based on how that game is viewed and what the final score of the SEC Championship game ends up being.

My hunch is that the "committee" will figure out a way to justify two SEC teams.

  • BullsitterBullsitter Posts: 5,791 ✭✭✭✭✭

C'mon man.....for your information Bama is out of it, you know that.
The ONLY reason I 'm pulling for UCLA is to give Tennessee a better shot at the Finals.

But I guess you know what I'm thinking more than I do....bahahahaha

    Again, Bama is out.
Georgia, Tennessee and LSU are still in it.

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,486 ✭✭✭✭✭

@Bullsitter, I know your team is 'Bama but it seems to matter if SEC teams make it or not. I'm only interested in one Big 10 team and don't really care about any others in the conference.

  • BullsitterBullsitter Posts: 5,791 ✭✭✭✭✭

That's cool. Ohio has all those pro teams plus OSU. Here in Alabama, there are no pro teams. You're either Bama or Auburn.
All your teams play nationwide, we mostly play in the southeast region. As much as I hate Auburn, Tennessee and Florida I still pull for them in the bowl games. I'm SEC all the way.

I think Cool is a conference guy, if I recollect correctly.

Someone said Tennessee is the only team that can beat Georgia :D . We already seen that game, and unless you're a Tennessee fan, no one else wants to see it again.

Maywood, I actually wouldn't be surprised if they let 3 sec teams in. This so called playoff committee has been corrupt since it started.

Game was played in Georgia where it’s a few degrees warmer than Tennessee and a little more windy.

    Impossible

UT will not lose and Mich/OSU will only have 1 loss, as might TCU.

Too much traffic ahead of them.

Would need a 8 car pile up on I 80.

If Michigan and TCU both lose I have no idea what the top 10 might look like. I know I probably sound like a broken record, but really isn't who you lose to, what matters most is WHEN it happens. A loss this week or next dooms many teams.

hope you guys saw the end of TCU-Baylor. Dykes is a riverboat gambler and that team just can't lose. dude called a 3rd-down run with :22 left and no timeouts and it was sheer pandemonium to get the kick off for the W

btw with 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter...

    West Virginia 25

Michigan loses to Illinois. Michigan beats OSU. Michigan loses BIG Championship game. No BIG teams are in. Alabama moves up two spots. TCU loses today. Perhaps another spot.

Some strange games today that will make for an interesting re-alignment on Tuesday. I figure the top four will remain unchanged and that Clemson and probably USC, if they hold on and win, will move up to numbers five and six. I don't think the "committee" want a two-loss team in their championship, not even an SEC two-loss team.

  • Alfonz24Alfonz24 Posts: 3,114 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Tennessee crapped the bed.

I saw a stat the the top 10 teams in the CFP coming into today were 60-1 at home. I believe they were showing this because Michigan has to go to the shoe next week.

Tennessee is a good team, just not a playoff team. Giving up 62 points to a non ranked team was a bit surprising.

Great chance for USC, however they still have to beat Notre Dame next week. The Tennessee loss also helped Clemson's chances of making the playoffs.

There have been surprises in the NFL this season but none like what happened yesterday in NCAA Football!! The play-off picture was humming right along and seemed clear as a morning sunrise.........................Georgia, the winner of 2-3, TCU and Tennessee.

Now what?? One thing is clear, to me at least, some teams need to be re-evaluated. Notre Dame is better than their first two games indicated. I don't think all the SEC teams are as good as everyone thinks --- and --- I don't think all the Big 10 teams are as bad as everyone thinks. If anything, yesterday showed the "any given Sunday" theory of football to be healthy

    Here's my prediction:
    1 Georgia (11-0)
    2 Ohio State (11-0)
    3 Michigan (11-0)
    4 TCU (11-0)
    5 USC (10-1)
    6 Clemson (10-1)
    7 Tennessee (9-2)
    8 Penn State (9-2)
    9 LSU (9-2)
    10 Alabama (9-2)
    11 Oregon (9-2)

    11 Oregon (9-2)

What more does the SEC need to do ? They send two teams to the Natty last year and start this year by blowing out Oregon and upsetting Utah.

Yes. The SEC only has one powerhouse this year. True. If that’s what you’re saying. Not the usual 2 or 3.

I feel only one SEC team is worthy of the playoff this year. Unless LSU blows out 12-0 Georgia and others fall.

Michigan has 8 home games and a solo team puffs on their schedule.

If they lose then no way have they proven anything this year.

How exactly is that team “good” this year ? How do you know ?

6-5 Wisconsin got beat at home worse by Notre Dame than they did at home by Michigan.

Yet UM is in the Top 4. Lol
    C’mon man
