If aliens are watching us from space, they must think “error” coins are more common than non-errors.

And I suspect that far fewer “errors” would be discovered or imagined, if they were worth less (instead of more) than non-errors.

Indubitably. They would also think the mint’s quality control is atrocious to have so many errors and varieties out there. They would think it chaos. But then they’d look at the rest of society and think it makes sense.
I believe that the U.S. Mint impliments strict quality control procedures and also produces wonderful coinage for collectors and circulation.
Roughly 20,000,000,000 coins a year times .000003 in error coins
(that’s a made up number in honor of Lloyd Thanxton (sp) for those who remember watching his TV show back in the 60s)
The Mint(s)makes a lot more errors that are released, especially in the last 20+ years or so
Kinda like car crashes – they stick out easy, sometimes they are very dramatic, and catch everyone’s attention
Did you miss the Morgan and Peace Dollar release? What QC? The uncirculated sets were a hot mess.
If you feel they are doing a great job then that explains alot. Perhaps there’s a majority that feel as you do.
I’m in the minority.
I do appreciate the vast amount of opinions about what and how to collect. 😉🙀🦫
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
Interesting. @ErrorsOnCoins has been saying the Mint has been releasing a lot less errors in the last 20 years.
Which one is it?
I BELIEVE !

Just look at the popular tag counter!
Errors account for 3 out of the Top 10 tags!
I believe Fred meant to say, The mint make a lot of errors that are (Not) released.
Well, that's the complete opposite of what Fred wrote, so hopefully @FredWeinberg will respond
.
fwiw, "than are released" = "not released."
That's also not what Fred wrote, which was "that are released". Typo? Error in the Error Thread?
.
ah. my brain read it as "than are" not "that are." ty - apparently errors and aliens are too much for me this morning!
The only thing more common than "errors" these days are videos that promote them.
It's worth noting that there are only 4 error threads on the front page, so I doubt aliens watching these forums would think error coins are more popular than non-error coins right now.
Do we need more error coin threads?
Aliens abducted me and asked nothing about error coins.
@Zoins
I count 5 mint error threads on the first page😉
Should I make it 6?
Chris- I was wrong. There are (6).
I'm not counting this one or "Poll done in error disregard"
But in any event, it's less than half so non-error coin threads are still more popular!
Here are the top error coins threads on the first page!
I have to say it.
If only we could get a few CAC Error threads going!!! That would give the aliens some entertainment.

Maybe they're not aliens, but they come from the Bizarro World.
Errors are normal. They collect the non-error coins as the oddities.
Ask Superman.
Pete
Which brings up the point that it's great for collectors that errors are worth more than non-errors
My bad – I was voice typing at 5 AM – it should’ve said the Mint makes a lot less and a lot less are released
I don’t always re-check my messages before I post them I guess I should now especially early in the morning!

My current submission with our host should raise a few eyebrows - no pun intended.
I hope to add two coins to this thread at some point in the future

If aliens are watching us, AND paying attention to our Coin Collecting discussions ... we might have bigger issues here!
LOL Mark!!!

They'll want to negotiate with the President of the ANA!
I wonder what they think of our television commercials?
Excellent point, Todd. Somehow, I’d overlooked that!😄

Same here, 'cept they told me ... and I quote ...
If aliens were that intelligent to arrive here, and upon noting the chaos that exists here, they likely would just keep on going. Maybe they already have.
.
for sure. only reason to contend with the crazy meat popsicle on this planet is out of desperation. otherwise, the interplanetary council would highly advise them to stay away, as seen in the video i posted WAY above.
They could always just destroy our planet to build a hyperspace bypass
Well now, after reading this I was not sure what forum I was on...
Star Trek, Aliens, error coins... Maybe the aliens work in the mint... Think about it.... Cheers, RickO
"The occupants of this planet enjoy communicating with each other about 'errors'- damaged round metal discs that seem to originate in places they leave their vehicles." - The aliens, probably.
