Yeah, I know, it’s Sunday, but I’m retired and got my Dunkin’ so every day feels like Saturday. Here’s one of my CBHs, crusty XF 40 to 45 is my preferred grade range. Enjoy your coffee and your Sunday folks!
@GuzziSport I enjoyed 3 months of Saturday's but then was asked to come back (could not find a replacement). Now, according to @pursuitofliberty , I have 3 Saturday's, and 4 flex Friday's.

Hey, did someone call?
In 10 days I start to use the the last "paid" vacation time, then on 11/12 I start doing 4 Saturdays and 3 flex Fridays every week!

Beautiful CBH @pcgscacgold !
I’ve always had a “thing” for twins 😉
Good Saturday everyone -
Having a registry set of Capped Bust dimes for a bunch of years, it gets harder to locate an upgrade to one's set. For me, its not only about the grade but also its about the eye appeal, originality, strike and toning. Here is my newest upgrade that I found and I love it. Only issue, I love the one I replaced too! Below is my upgrade - All I can say is "oh my my"= Saturday and my 1929 JR-2 large 10 -
It's been well over a year since I found a Classic Head $5 that I liked. Then this one came along. It's the last date that I needed for my Classic Head $5 Date set. She is from the M. Ghiorso Collection of Classic Head varieties. I will watch for a P58CAC down the road but this one talked to me as soon as I saw it. I agree with Doug Winter in that many AU58 and even MS coins do not look as nice as this one.
It's an R3 with an estimated 270 total survivors. Several people must have taken care of this one over the almost 200 years since minting.
Good Saturday morning!
Enjoying some piping hot coffee on this chilly morning. Also enjoying this beauty that I purchased a couple of months ago for my type set.
A very special Red Eye Saturday for me today. Just acquired the coin below; it’s one I used to own & thought I would never see again. Why? It’s one of only 2 MS examples known - the other is a 64RB I’m not familiar with. While it’s special to acquire one of your old coins again (I think many of us have), I didn’t realize at the time I sold (actually traded) it how rare it was. The eye appeal is so exceptional it almost doesn’t matter what the grade is. Plus, the variety itself is so pronounced its naked eye visible. It already has a place as one of my faves in my IHC collection!
Fall just feels like coin season to me! We coin collectors are so lucky to have our coins and books, and internet when it turns cold! A few old friends:
This is one from a recent submission (all raw) that came back as a 58 (correct IMO).
I was able to color correct the images that PCGS provided on this one to make it much more true to in-hand viewing. Not an extremely rare DM or variety, but a very wholesome coin with a lovely natural skin and a look that's very easy for me to appreciate.
.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
I like the virtual albums that the registry provides for displaying one's graded coins. They ease not having SLH coins in Danscos anymore.
I finally got enough raw coins graded or crossed to complete a virtual album page for y'all to enjoy. Actually, much of the mismatch was created by TrueView photos turning dark coins into colorful coins under strong axial lighting. These TVs don't resemble the coins in hand, but I appreciate their effort to show their color. I actually like the mismatched set look (as well as a matched set look). It's also my first completed album page with photos and it was a beast to complete.
I felt sorry for Knoxville; few showed up. The obverse of the medal equals the depth of the event, and the reverse hints at the imagination that was absent.
Morning ride is over. Time for caffeine and coins.
These two came last Saturday afternoon. Not my usual thing. An 1834 HM4 N55CAC (R5+ with less than 30 surviving coins). Doug Winter believes this is one of the highest graded HM4's to survive. Then an 1835 HM6 P30 no-CAC Fairmont (R6 with less than 20 raw or slabbed). These are the first coins I have owned with pops as low as that.
.
.
Edit: Both came out of the Mark G collection. I got very lucky being able to add some of his coins to my collection.
Sippin’ the good ol’ Red Eye while checking out this newp:
Back to the Walkers today with this original skin last “official” date for the early ones. The 1933-S usually is well struck, but this one borders the hammered category. Branch hand thumb with a full stem split - check. Nice, clearly visible skirt lines - check. Head complete - another check. On the rev, eagle’s breast feathers & trailing leg detail are as full as possible. Eye appeal is exceptional + there are minimal marks.
I think the coin is held back from GEM by the luster, which is good but not great. But, it is favored with the green bean despite this.
This makes 20/26 for the Early Walker series.
