I got a large package this week, and have shown the three of the examples I am most infatuated with in two threads about being "smitten", but there were other Gem's in the box, at least if you like crusty old AU's like I do.
So, for my favorite coffee friends and thread ...
How about I show it while drinking my Italian Roast brew, with a cool original piece of glass my daughter made for me in the foreground, being held by my wonderful new friend "Berry" (a gift with it's own story from my oldest Son and his wife);
.
And so you can admire the coin a little more ...
1829 O-119 (119.1), PCGS AU53cac, R3
ex-Keigwin. Exquisite mottled green grey fades to bronze gold, with wonderful luster and surfaces. An AU55, on any other day.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
This thread is always fun to read, as there are some coins posted that are high level (and "far beyond the means of ordinary men [coin collectors]").
I have no photos to post at this time, however yesterday and today I am attending a local show. I did pick up some raw cherries, including a 1951 proof set in OGP that contains a possible Cameo cent (it does have a Cameo look and is a full red gem), a lock (IMO) Cameo nickel (heavy two sided frost and deeply mirrored fields), a lock (IMO) Cameo dime (heavy two sided frost and mirrored fields), plus a very attractive gem quarter and half dollar. Definitely some hobby fun.
Looking over a 180 year old silver school medal this morning, the first pickup of 2023:
I imagine someone getting this so very long ago, and it being their prized possession for a time. The horse and the rising Sun drew me to it, but I'm sure I can dig up some history.
Happy Saturday, folks!

Already went through the morning coffee, did some chores, have laundry in the wash, made a list of coins to submit, firmed up the ones to sell, and so now, as I rest a minute and log back on the see what else showed up on my favorite Saturday morning thread ... here's one to share today
1825 O-105 (105.1), PCGS AU55, R3
ex-Keigwin, ex-Ross. Gorgeous bronze with lilac and heather tones over original luster, a strong strike and attractive surfaces.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
No coins for me this morning and no coffee (tea instead).
However, yesterday afternoon I learned that PCGS mailed a 45 coin submission back to me by priority mail (the tracking # was given also).
About 11 p.m. last night the online order information changed and stated the priority mail package has been delivered (and the tracking # disappeared).
From PCGS in Santa Ana to Anaheim, to San Francisco, to my local post office, to my mail box in about 10 hours????????
Talk about fast.
This morning I checked my mail box. The package of 45 coins has not yet been delivered.
Coffee and prayers. My new grandson was born almost 10 days ago and is inChildrens Hospital recovering from heart surgery. I’m doing what I can to help hold my daughter and her husband together.
Little guy was born with two arteries that needed to be switched as they were reversed and not sending oxygenated blood to the lungs. I think I’m ok. Thanks 🙏

Just returned from my LCS. Not much available today. Picked up some US 90% for 21 X face. I couldn't resist buying the 1874 Canadian quarter for 18 X face. Time to kick back and enjoy a Saturday coffee!
ugh. i'm such a numnutz. i saw the receipt and that mug and thought you paid a tab with those coins for a few seconds!!
i'm the same way. i have to buy mexican/canadian coins from time to time or i start to get itchy for some reason. ESPECIALLY 20th century stuff.

Good luck and prayers for your grandson. No child deserves to be born with a medical condition. They should all be perfect. This breaks my heart

This is from the same dies as both of the PCGS CAM examples and - if I say so myself - just as nice if not better. It's a PR65 currently, and I think it will stay there for quite some time.
Greetings formites 😁👶
WOW have I been up down and all around. My 2 nd grandson was born 3- weeks ago and required open heart surgery. At 5 days old they successfully completed an artery swap on a heart the size of a walnut. Friggin amazing.
First meet Vinnie 👶
Now as we are out of the weeds, celebration, coffee and a new 2.5 escudos for the collection.
Awesome news @Jzyskowski1 ! May he grow stronger and healthier every day.
Here is a token from the Bowers Collection, a rare card from Chicago. Not mine, but I think it goes with the thread. Good for a drink, be it coffee or something to take the edge off!

Hi Vinnie! Great to e-meet you! Welcome to the world! Have fun and stay a while
Well Winter finally showed up, but it’s only here until tomorrow. 😀
Cold start to the day….8 degrees when I woke up, gonna be 40 tomorrow.
This morning, it’s a cup of hazelnut and a box of old Washington Quarters. Also found a half roll of Unc. 1964 quarters tucked away in the back of the drawer.
Thank for the pics of your coins and lives. Allow me, please:
I have these pints packed with rolls of all denominations. When some of you guys need a break from the cold, come down, enjoy the temperate climate, stick around, read a few jars of coins for room and board.
Jars of ungraded rolls must be the niche that I am best at— I quit counting at eighty. I acknowledge my compulsive hoarding. If some one thinks that it’s cool, I’ll make it a small brag.
My wife gives one closet for my coins. When I get tired of standing up, I sit outside to examine coins.
When I don’t look at coins, I work on the mosaic walkway and dry stack walls.
As a lexicographer, I collect words and organize them into dictionaries. As a mason I collect stones and put them into constructions. The compulsion to put small things into order fits logically with collecting coins.
Thanks for giving me a voice in this pleasant thread.
I try never to be without half and half n the morning, but alas, in my crazy day yesterday, I had forgotten I was out. So, no half and half this morning ... but the Italian Roast works when it's thick and dark, even without the splash of color.
I'll share one that I didn't get from Lance this morning, to change my theme from the January Saturdays. I picked this up from Gerry Fortin a couple years ago (new images from last week since I tweaked with my photo setup);
. 1824/4 O-110 (110.1) P55cac
ex-Meyer. Abundant and pleasing luster radiates though russet grey green colors and appealing, nearly mark free surfaces.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
Good morning,
I do not know how long ago nor where I bought this cash box; used it at home sales and flea markets.
I dug it out this morning. It never struck me to pop out the plastic sort tray.
Viola!
1891 P quarter, 1924 dollar, 1948 P half , and a 1964 dime. I have not studied these. They are not attractive pieces.
I do not care for locks without keys; I am happy to get the key.
Quick coffee, out the door for grandson’s 4 th grade basketball games. Watching those little scooters playing BB is quality entertainment.
And here’s a couple new additions. My currency collection of bills with a “3” as their denomination continues to grow. Also my copper collection 😁

What does "2$50" mean in this note?
Really enjoy the color on this centennial piece:

Dos escudos (2). Cincoenta centavos (50). 2.50. 😁
Think the fractionals of the peso. Centavos 1-5-10-20 or 25 and 50.
