We're going to start a new ancient civilization tomorrow, right now I'm watching an intense movie and it has a hold of me and won't let go.
I know it’s an incredibly intense film so don’t read on if you want to avoid the spoilers.

It’s still available on Netflix so Mrs. Dueces and I sat down and watched it last night. Something looked familiar to me and I realized I had seen it when it first came out. Good movie. Different and I like that. Side note the male lead was also in Cloverfield although only for a brief period.
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
The next civilization up is Easter Island, a very isolated island in the Pacific, 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile. It was once home to a civilization, that erected huge statues weighing many tons. There is a great mystery as to how these statues were moved and erected. The statues are called "Moai" and there are over 800 of them on the island. The island is so isolated that it is a mystery how the inhabitants navigated their way to the island in the first place in about 400 A.D. Here is the location of the island on a map and on a globe.
The statues on Easter Island are huge, each one weighing many tons. Some of them are half buried and some are fully upright. Here is a map showing where some of the statues are located on the island, they are scattered all over the island.
I would hazard a guess that these stone images are a good facial representation of those here on Sports Talk.
Yes including me...i'm the good looking one pictured there.
Be careful Steve, the statues could be cursed, and they know you're bad mouthing them. They will seek vengeance on you by making the Eagles lose to dem' boys, and the pigeons will be getting ready for you to feed them!

Most of those statues look like they haven't missed a meal. A good pouch on many of them.
My guess is the fishing was certainly abundant in that area along with other seafood, and they invented some tasty sauces to go along with it. 🐟

Here is what the Karnak temple looked like from the air in ancient times after it was built.
The ancient Egyptians also made little toy like figurines or carvings of boats and these have been found in various tombs throughout the years.

How about coin and card collecting before the advent of PCGS and PSA?
That seems like ancient times.
No sir, you're talking about a time when dinosaurs were still a threat!

This is Easter Island from the air, it has a huge volcanic crater on it.
The statues are huge, this is one that was buried and excavated.
How did the inhabitants move these huge statues all over the island and erect them?
Some of these huge statues have huge blocks on top of their heads call their "hats" and these hats weigh tons.
Some of these statues are buried up to their heads.

The legend is that the Moai walked into position unaided.
