Not PSA, but I bought this card raw on Ebay a few months ago. I liked it a lot because it was nicely centered, and 1996 Chrome Refractors are consistently off center. I thought it was a 9 or mint-plus 9.5 at best, never expected it to gem. It's a true 1/1 since neither PSA or BGS have ever graded one as a gem (though it's a pretty small overall population).
Unfortunately, the ego boost I received from correctly examining and submitting the Pedro was immediately crushed by this:
The Banks rookie and Williams rookie came form Monte. Sorry that he is parting with them - but really happy to add them to my collection. Both key cards for my projects (already posted about the Banks in another thread). The Williams is towards my '61 HOF set. Because he is a Cub and a key card for the set - just have never been able to find one I like. It is plagued with snow and L-R centering issues.
This was a huge month for me - may not go to the National now (but will be hard not to with it being in my own back-yard) since I spent my budget but this was what I was hoping to find there and it was quite possible the only Banks rookies would be auction previews. Opening the box from Monte - I felt like a kid again. These cards are truly appreciated and the Banks is my favorite card in my collection.
I picked up a PSA-6.5 Roberto Clemente RC this evening (Monday). The centering is dead on side to side when viewed horizontally...but I gave up centering top to bottom (65/35 or 70/30) for other qualities. What sold me is the eye popping color, overall registration (including secondary image which is very clear and sharp) and print. I did own a PSA-7 awhile back, but the color just did not pop like the 6.5 even though centering was better top to bottom. Here is the card along with my previously owned PSA-7 for comparison.
A few show items back from 2020 subs now scanned. All are Pop1 show cards from years of shows.

The Posey just - its a card I ordinarily don't involve myself in but when a friend collects him I'll pick a card up now and then to assist ( unless he owns then I just keep it around). Pop 1 just 1 gem out there.

These were very cheap (shipping was more than the cost) and not the best picture. Described as good or better. Two items I was looking at in this lot. The Raydio (Ray Parker Jr) and James Gang. Raydio because it had a sticker (which I couldn't read in the listing) and James Gang still in original shrink and cover looked to be in nice shape and was hoping for the best.
Radio has a sticker which says "A Prize From KX104 Your Friends" which I though adds to the charm for me.
James Gang was in really nice shape. There is a very light scuff on side 2 which doesn't effect play at all.
Paul Revere & The Raiders is the worst looking. But looks better after cleaning and plays rather well with minimal noise and the occasional pop or click.
Donna Summer has issues but has the original mail order form which I can add to my other better copy.
The Opryland Gospel Quartet is the best shape (nice clean VG+). My oldest had his door open because it's was hot when I was testing these and I turned the speakers back on (I grade using headphones) and turned this up. Door IMMEDIATELY went closed again. I asked him what was the problem. Um, I'm on with people. So I say, what, don't they like the music? His reply I DON'T LIKE THE MUSIC!

i really like it when you post your records. i really like 70's record covers. keep going with more.
I picked up a cool edition to my Topps Rookie Cup quest today. I started collecting autographs of all the winners about five years ago and only lack about 14 plus the new members from last year. I've started now trying to pick up some peripheral items relating to the Rookie Cup trophy. Got this in today. Based on the script on the cup it looks to be one that was given out in the 70s.

Thank you. Was hoping someone was getting a kick out of my purchases.
If memory serves me correctly they used to have a vinyl section on here many moons ago. I know I posted some of the odd covers (and there are a lot of them out there) that I have in my collection.
I love my sports stuff I collect but my passion is and will always be music. I'm at a little over 3,000 items cataloged at Discogs currently and counting as I have a bunch they don't have listed.
Yes, it's bulky. Yes, I can probably stream a portion of what I own but it's just not the same. It's really hard to explain to people that didn't grow up in the day where this was the norm. In my youth I was subjected to everything from 1950's Rock, Doo Wop and Country (Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the like) at home. Lived with my Grandfather for a while and he was into Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw and Sha Na Na (yeah I know, weird mix). Radio was always on and if not that it was records were played. Lots of Disco on the radio in the 70's. Teen years (bad times at home) and my tastes started running towards Metal. Mostly because it seemed to speak to me and partly because it completely p'ed off the ol man. But through all the crap that life threw my direction I always had and still have my records.
Maybe it's a nostalgia thing. Maybe I just don't want to ever fully grow up. But there is still something magical about placing the headphones on, putting a record on, and sitting back with the cover in your hands and just blocking out the world around you and taking you back to a different time where everything seemed possible and didn't have the worries of daily life.

this is super cool. no way to figure out who it was given to?
Radio has a sticker which says "A Prize From KX104 Your Friends" which I though adds to the charm for me.
Absolutely. I used to have an Otis Redding 45 that had a radio station "Property of..." ink stamp on the label. Having an original print single of something on Volt was cool enough. That just added to the fun.

I think it would be almost impossible. There is a wooden base that goes under them that has a panel that says the name and year from all I've seen. The cup itself is just the top part and removable.

That is crazy a cool pickup. Look forward to seeing some of the other peripheral items you pick up.
Do you have this card in your collection? Now you just need to find an example of the other type of trophy, the one that was used prior to 1973….
I've started picking up stuff like that. I think I have one of those 72s in a box but not graded. I need to check. I did go through and pick up one of the 1964 banquet program cards that are so tough to find. I'll post it here when I get it.

Excited for this pick up. I sent in what I thought was a low buy it now offer and the seller accepted. Received the card today and saw there is a tiny spot of paper loss on the back. Without the paper loss I got an absolute steal. With the paper loss, I probably slightly overpaid from a pure numerical grade standpoint, but I still think this one is a keeper.
