I bought one of those NFL Prime Packs at Walgreens that contains 2 random packs for $9. I could see through the plastic that one pack was a 2009 SP Authentic football. The 2 big rookies are Matthew Stafford & Julian Edelman, and as a Pats fan I hoped for an Edelman despite the long odds. As I was going through the pack, I saw that I had scored a rookie auto, and then I saw that it was a Patriot. Unfortunately it wasn't Edelman, but Chung is a decent auto to get.
Every few months, my collecting buddy from childhood plans out a roadtrip, sometimes several hundred miles from home, often in the most out of the way places, and we head out to see what we can find. Just got back from a several day excursion.
Picked up this stuff from a flea market/antique store.
A faux vintage metal sign advertising 1955 Topps baseball cards. It is likely only really 5 or 10 years old. I seem to remember seeing these previously at Hobby Lobby or similar store.

An MLB licensed Lou Gehrig print. The frame has seen better days, so will be upgrading that.

For all you wrestling fans, a Hulk Hogan party bag/lunch sack with a 1991 trademark. There was also a Jake The Snake Roberts and a Big Boss Man sack there too that I passed on. They also made an Ultimate Warrior version too that was not there, or I would have probably bought all of them for a set. I'm not a big collector of wrestling normally, but do enjoy looking at all of the wrestling items that get posted.

By chance, we stopped in a business not associated with sports cards because he'd happened to see stacks of monster boxes in the background of their business's online photos. They indeed had cards for sale, a whole back room just full of unlabeled monster boxes with random cards inside, priced 10 cents each or 12 for $1. We just each started randomly grabbing our own boxes and going through them, spending 4 hours there one day and 2 hours there the next, and maybe only looked at roughly half of the cards. Here's a little taste of the roughly 600 cards that I pulled out. I intentionally targeted the older stuff, looking for boxes with the gray cardboard stock showing. He mostly targeted the boxes with the white stock, and pulled out probably double what I did, as his boxes had more of the modern stuff with multiples of rookies that were no big deal a few years ago when those cards were opened and stashed away, but they are big deals now. We'll going back there again soon, I'd think...
.
Forgot about this purchase. While I'm certain that at least one Cal Ripken autograph is hiding inside these packs, they'll stay sealed for now. I believe someone posted a rack box purchase awhile back, otherwise, I was unaware of their existence. These are the first 92 Donruss racks I recall ever seeing in person.
Man, modern hockey cards are always a reminder for me that I’ve dropped the ball (or puck). I used to follow the NHL so closely. Now there are stars I’ve never heard of.
I picked up this pack last night...happy to add it to my 1975 mini cello pack w/Brett RC on top and a 1964 red cello pack series #2 (Pete Rose All-Star Rookie series)!

I just got back into it about a year ago, and it brought me back, discovering new players, the chase for rookies, autos, patches.

Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Some 71’s came in this week, going into the grading pile! I have just shy of 200 now that I’m hoping to send in sometime this year!
I’m a bad picture-taker. A lot of the specs on the cards are on the outside of the card savers 😄
Finally got THE SHAT BACK today in the mail!! My sub to PSA! These are not easy to find not being beat up in rough condition. Most are junk condition. So happy to find a solid 8 for card and auto.
