Just received email from the mint that my orders are confirmed. I was on my lap top and phone trying to get through and after much trial and tribulation, the orders went through. Because I kept trying to refresh and go back and start over, I ended up with two O's and one CC. I was about to give up at one point.

Instead of order limits, mintage limits, just put out that we are taking orders for one week, and will mint however many orders we have at the end of the period. Kills the flip, but collectors get theirs.

The Mint actually did that with the 1998 Kennedy 2-coin set. Two week window, about 62,000 sets ordered, no one shut out due to mintage limits.

Backorder is correct. This was a Pre-Order. Backorder should indicate that your order processed and the items are reserved for you. Mine says that too, with only the postage indicated so far, as they cannot fulfill the order until the allocation is minted and prepared for delivery. The email indicates the total though - all $1,704.95 in my case.

They must have made some backend changes.

This is the first I’ve heard of a number of people with more in the cart than planned.

Once clicked, it would nearly immediately indicate the bag addition but this time you don’t see it until after a long wait … on a day like today.

I need to suggest an easier way to update quantities in the cart. It is currently extremely clunky.

So far the Dutch tulip auction is showing me wrong with stronger flip prices than I would have imagined.

I also would not have guessed the number of pre-sales this far out.

I would not want to buy and commit immediate funds for a months later product delivery.

What is the policy on eBay refunds and eBay returns? Will a problem with a seller even be resolvable in oct or nov?

It's sad how other sites can figure this out... I also am collecting the Music Legends series from the Royal Mint, their latest dropped this morning at 2am mountain time, I set an alarm, when I went to their site, it put me in a queue with a number showing where I was in queue. The number counted down from 1900 to 0 in about 10 minutes, then I got on, ordered the coin and went back to bed. Because the excess traffic sat in queue, once in the site there were no issues at all. I had >20 gateway errors at the US Mint site along with a handful of other frustrating errors.

WHO'd you get this time? :)

IMO, doing pre sales for this product on ebay is just asking for trouble.

I managed to get my order for both through but it wasn't easy.

That was incredibly frustrating today. I got 2 of the O and lost the 2 CCs I had in my cart. Thankful I got the 2 I did. Too may gateway errors. I was scared at one point I would strike out completely. Hopefully I can get the others and find someone to trade me a CC.

My guess is that the one in backorder has been confirmed while the one in pending haven't. If both have been confirmed, I would just wait another couple hours for the system to update.

I would never buy these on eBay. Certainly the dealers will be offering these very soon. Those in the advanced release program already have their initial allocation. I may wait until after June 7 and buy a full set if it’s offered and at a decent price.

This happened to me as well. I think I clicked "add to bag", no response, then I clicked again. That's how I got more.
Then I wasted lot of time to try to correct the quantity, then CC was gone, I only got O.

For those of you who got the gateway errors and subsequently were able to successfully complete your purchase, how did you proceed after the error, back button, refresh or just wait patiently on the error screen? Wondering how to approach next week for the s show as no success for me today.

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yes I had TWO browser windows open and tried to correct the number to “one” on first browser window, went to the second window and somehow it completed the order for “four” (multiple mistaken additions) when I was trying to bring the number down the “one” on the big O.
    O Well.
Very weird experience. I anticipate the peace dollar is going to be much more difficult.

Wow!, thanks everyone for a great read and eventful day. I didn’t even try because
I knew if I did my blood pressure would go through the roof.

I wonder if we are going to have any hick ups from the mint and produce some nice collectible errors.

I must of got that stupid message about 15 times. I simply close the screen and started all over. I had one xtra in my cart so I had to delete one. I put the wrong credit card number in. But I kept closing the screen opening in another window till I finally got 1 of each.
I tried to go back for 2 of each got the first set in the cart. Figured might as well finalize the deal but then got the dreaded post not available so I emptied my cart. Went to the other one got 2 in my cart tried to finalize the deal and got the not available message. I left those 2 in my cart for tomorrow! 😲😎

I think I can answer that one. When I logged in to make a second order for my friend, I was on the page with all of the coins. I'd click on one of the dollars, but the bag wouldn't change. I'd click again, etc. At one point I had two CC's and THREE O's, when I only wanted two of each. The website performance was so bad that it was difficult to remove the extra one.

My buddy should be glad I wasn't going for the household limit. ;)

Refresh worked best for me. Good luck

I just checked my orders, one of them, in the PAYMENT METHODS section of the ORDER SUMMARY, is blank, no credit card info. That's why my credit card does not show pending transaction.

I know it's easy for me to say, I was able to get my orders through, but there are hundreds of these on ebay and people paying $2-300, that only reinforces the flippers to order for the next round and keeps the price high for those wanting them now. If people would hold off a couple of months they would likely pay less and the flippers holding on to these would be discouraged for ordering as many in the next rounds - especially if these actually start shipping in June and they have to put out the money. Hit them where it hurts make them outlay the money and be hung with them awhile, it will bring the prices down and may shy them from ordering as many of the next ones.

  • TequilaDaveTequilaDave Posts: 271 ✭✭✭

I keep reading about folks making 2 orders, one order for the CC and the other for the O. I put 10 of ea into my cart and then bought them all at the same time. Seems much easier than making two individual orders, IMO

  • TequilaDaveTequilaDave Posts: 271 ✭✭✭

Also, my orders say "confirmed", both on the mint site and in the email

they need to make the limit 1 per household to spread these out over more collectors. and releasing two on the same day is a bad idea.

I agree, but the Mint wanted to unload these quickly apparently, hence the 10 per household. Should have started out as 5 or 2 then bump it up as the day went on.

I'm sorry for those who experienced the failure but I don't deal with the US Mint; I don't like the US Mint and I agree with the one who posted "all collectors should have a chance at getting one". Obviously that's not the way it is and a Government Agency that has a website like that one. For shame.

There is a difference in “all collectors should have a chance at getting one” and “all collectors get one”. We all had a chance.

I would rarely disagree with you but this I do. "We all had a chance." No, we did not. I don't know when the Mint Site started crashing and burning but it was very early in the sale. 25 minutes or less and the product is 'Unavailable". If I ran my business like this I'd be bankrupt in a day. So how did the US Mint make it's money off this if the common collector could NOT buy one?

Nothing. Wow. Extremely surprised. Wonder if it will be random times like the V75 Gold Eagle was after the first 07:30 ones. That was worth all the hassle. This is not.

I only had my phone yesterday. Was SOOOO frustrated. Got to order conf spinning several times with each only to get bad gateway. I got 10 Os at 12:20. Then the CCs time out. Hoping to get them. Ugh.
