The presale prices seem crazy. With so many coins I can't imagine these premiums holding once they all ship. Where do you all think they'll settle out.
I wouldn't count on them going down much, if at all, and I wouldn't expect them to come anywhere near $85 each again. A lot more than 175,000 collectors are going to want these coins.
You know, if the mint's website worked absolutely perfectly and nobody got error messages, what would have happened is the very first response from the mint for many (most?) people would have been "Sold Out".

Any predictions on when the first "graded" Morgan Dollars appear on Ebay, and if so what kind of price would you expect to see for MS70?
Well...if people are willing to pay $300 for raw I would guess around $500 and by the end of the month... oh and a premium for limited edition first strike mine only core with shavings from an actual 1921 Morgan lol.

I can hear the coinvault pitch now. "The lowest mintage of any Morgan Dollar was 100,000 for the 1893-S and has a price guide value of $1.2 Million in 67. These 2021's have a similar mintage and, by all rights, should be a million dollar coin in 70. You can yours here tonight for 2 payments of $ 4,999.98"

For those of us who are toying with the idea of picking up an O and CC on eBay via presale (once prices hopefully die down a little) before the supposed October-shipment, upon payment will the seller receive our payment only after they have shipped? Or because it might be months after payment before it ships, will there be an issue with eBay detecting fraud/cancelling my order/returning my payment etc?
@Raufus said:
Does anyone recall exactly which time the O and CC went dark yesterday?
I randomly went for the O first. Sounds like the CC went dark earlier. Ugh.
I figured CC would be hotter, so went for 10 O's first. Got through fairly early, so then went for 10 CC's, and got those too. I figure the rush for CC would slow down by the time I went for them. I got max each, so think it worked.

I know it's easy for me to say as I was able to get my orders through, but please hold off. The flippers are counting on quick sales to get the money before they have to pay for them. It creates the frenzy raising the price for you and making them more likely to continue in the next rounds. If they actually have to pay for the ones they have ordered it ties up their money and if there isn't a quick turn around it may discourage them for the next ones making them more available for everyone without the crazy price for those who missed these. There are lots of these out there if people can hold off it will benefit all of us.

Well done. I was at work. Only had my phone. I randomly did the O first. I was SO frustrated. Got close so many times. Had I been home on my computer I'm sure I would have gotten 10 of each instead of just the Os. I should have gone for the Os first. The CCs had just gone dark when I went for them.

Agree, presales this early make no sense on either end. If the prices drop by the time they ship the buyers back out. If they go up most of the sellers back out - plus it drives the frenzy.

I figured CC would be hotter so I went for the CC first. The bottleneck is the payment gateway. It kind of doesn't matter what's in your cart. You could have bought a 2021 proof set yesterday and you still wouldn't have been able to check out without all the gateway crashes etc.
I got limit of CC first and then got limit of O next. I thought that CC would be the Hottest and "getting" wasn't the hard part. Checking out was the hard part...
If a flipper wants a quick sale, they can wholesale them for $140 now.
I don't know why people think that flippers are all a bunch of paupers who need to sell them immediately. They bought them on a credit card. The charge is already on their credit card. Even if their credit card charges 2% per month in interest, what is my incentive to cut my price 10% to save 2% in interest?
I don't think flippers are a bunch of paupers - quite the opposite and these aren't already charged to your credit card until shipping which I hope is the June 13 date. What I doubt is that many of the flippers want to tie up $1700 from this week and $1700 from each of the next 2 weeks even at 0% interest if people sit back and wait months to buy these. The best thing that could happen for people who want these coins and future limited coins for themselves is that the flippers are left sitting on a bunch of them with their money tied earning nothing.

None of the dealers have the CC and O privy Morgans on sale yet. I'm a bit surprised. Either they are waiting to see how many they can get or are waiting for the entire series (plus Peace dollar) to be completed so they can offer them all at once.

Completely agree. If I get all 6 coins, my first choice is from a dealer I trust. If their prices are too high, I will get them on eBay, assuming the prices are lower. If I go the eBay route, I will hold off as long as possible.
A friend got an email at 2:43 today...the dreaded "Cancellation Summary"
"One or more items in your order USM0959XXXX has been cancelled. I you did not request a cancellation, it was cancelled because the item(s) are no longer in our inventory and are not available for backorder. We apologize for the inconvenience."

That's sad. And yet people continue to support the Mint and kiss their rear ends. I won't do it because I do not like the taste!
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being pure hatred and 1 being "that's OK" what would your feelings towards me be if I said I had 60 coins? This is a purely hypothetical poll.

Not hatred but the desire to get them into individual’s hands heightened
Comments
The release at 12:03 was so the big boys could get what they needed once the Household Limit was removed.
Yawn...
The "big boys" [bulk buyers] have a different gateway and different restrictions. They may not have even been allowed to buy today.
The really "big boys" could pre-order them and pick them up in Memphis before they even went on sale yesterday.
The Mint could have just sold them to the bulk buyers directly without removing the HHL or making them available to the public at all.
I don't know why people make stuff up.
I wouldn't count on them going down much, if at all, and I wouldn't expect them to come anywhere near $85 each again. A lot more than 175,000 collectors are going to want these coins.
My Adolph A. Weinman signature
@jmlanzaf boy are you asking for trouble lol
@djm...and what effect does removing the hhl have for a basically sold out item.
You know, if the mint's website worked absolutely perfectly and nobody got error messages, what would have happened is the very first response from the mint for many (most?) people would have been "Sold Out".
And there would still be complaints.
Just sayin'.

NGC MS70 x 2 sold for $1000 each earlier in the above link.

Unfortunately you are probably spot on
it kills me (in the sense of ridiculousness) they'd take off a HHL on a nearly sold out item.
For the unavailable ASE there were about 300 presales on eBay
For these there are over 600

Payment is sent immediately
Wow. So it will be like the V75s with variable times each day.
How long were they up for?
Did you get any?
Got one CC
They weren’t up for long maybe a few minutes. O was up longer than cc
Does anyone recall exactly which time the O and CC went dark yesterday?
I randomly went for the O first. Sounds like the CC went dark earlier. Ugh.
Man, so bummed that I was not paying attention. A few minutes when the web site is not swamped is more than enough time.

You will get one Raufus

It was around 11:15 cst for the CC and 11:24 for the O. I had 4 separate orders and the last one was at 11:23 for an O.
I got limit of CC first and then got limit of O next. I thought that CC would be the Hottest and "getting" wasn't the hard part. Checking out was the hard part...

Totally detached from reality
My order for two CC and one O was around 12:20 EST.
Thanks guys. I missed the CC by like 2 minutes. Ugh.
Will you still go for the whole set of six?
Will you buy off eBay?
We really need that HHL down to 5

If I can’t get all six I’m going to sell them
There is no HHL at this time. I got exactly 0 of each issue.
Which is why we need:
A start 5 HHL
No removal of the HHL
